Na u give am injury wey make am unfit? Shut up if u no get wetin to talk. Na Balogun wey pass let fitness test. Ebuehi was never injured at any point. He only had a simple nose bleeding about 4 days ago
Ebuehi played was poor against Serbia because of injury, why do u want Rohr to repeat the same Mistake?

We can manage Shehu in Ebuehi's position but we can't manage anyone in Balogun's position.

A half-fit Balogun will always start ahead of Both Omeruo and Awaziem.

Watching Switzerland press Brazil makes me regret watching our match yesterday. We gave up so easily. No passion at all. Kai!

2 days ago they were deciding on their goal celebration, yet they can't score a goal. Too much Insta and SHAKU SHAKU. Domestic boys would've had more fight. Rohr's incompetence just makes things 10x worst.
me,I don't have an issue with how they want to celebrate, heck I will dance with them too..
But this boys should fight, if we loose fighting, we accept our fate, but our eagles were limp, and played like cowards, we gave in too easily, at the 50th min i knew we would loose...

Even if they are 3 goals down in the 90min, they should fight, that's how you become champions, you show character and zest, real hunger then even elements will favor you at some point..

That's why I don't get the pessimistic lot that complain and whine here all day about our chances before we even started the competition..
Should have just told fifa, we are not going to play, because we are scared of Croatia, Iceland and Argentina?...

Manuel Akanji doing a good job.

I don't know how a veteran like Murphy Akanji would allow his son to play for Switzerland.

OMGoodness! i done nearly piss for cloth! grin grin

Barcelona played 4-3-3

Iniesta, plays on the left side of the midfield as a CAM. Rakitic has NEVER played in that position, even when he was in Sevila.
What are you talking about?
Rakitic was bought to replace Xavi.
Sergi Roberto was actually suppose to replace iniesta as he is a natural CAM, but he is considered not good enough, and thus has to settle for the RB position in place of Semedo.

Rakitic was an AMF in Seville

This is where man management comes in. If there was friction between Leno and Ter Stegen, the Manger should have stepped up and resolved it. Those 2 guys played at the confed cup last year. Kevin Trapp was binned by Unai Emery last season, reduced him to just making appearances in French cup games.
Think the Confederations Cup was a battle for who would be Neuer's understudy. Ter Stegen won and Leno got dropped.

Truly he has been good. He even won a challenge in a race with Gabriel Jesus easily beating him off the ball. Akanji is another loss but I hope we don't miss out on Noah Okafor playing in same club that breeded Akanji... Basel FC.

Akanji is now a Dortmund player by the way. His rise continues.

My point still stands that favoritism is not a Nigerian thing. I have listed as much as 4 players at the drop of the hat who made the German team on very questionable grounds.
You cannot keep saying Germans are not sentimental when there's no clear definition why some of those guys made the team. I'm sure there's a German word for "sentiment"
They didn't pick those players and automatically it's sentiments that caused it. I proved to you that fitness was an issue in 2014 and still they won.

I read somewhere why Loew didn't pick Sane and it had nothing to do with sentiments. Mexico came to play and they played.

Defeats and failures have reasons but I find your reasons not grounded in fact. It's just your opinion.

Calm down my sister.

You are not as disappointed as I am.

I recall you saying we like to concede. The thing now is we don't concede from open play it is always through set pieces. I believe we were also unlucky with the own goal. That really influences the course of the game.

Ekong did almost what Eguovoen did against Italy at USA 94 WC. Meaning we didn't learn from that.

I will not give up on the boys yet. The minimum I expected was a decent performance even if we don't qualify from the group.

I have always rated every Nigerian team high going into every WC. Let's see how they will respond against Iceland.

the swiss are playing 3-5-2 and have been able to wrestle the mid field from Brazil. I just kept thinking what might have been if we had played 3-5-2.

Bros Xhaka IS our DM. At Arsenal, he has more defensive responsibility than he did at Mochengladbach.
I can't say he played him as a Regista - look who he paired him up with - RAMSEY!!
It is easier to say. But if you ask Xhaka or Wenger they will tell you he is not.
Reason why Emery wants a DM like Torreira.

Please stop basing your assertions on one offs.
he played there occasionally.
Same way Villa played as a false 9 for FCB
Same way Messi played as a false 9 under Guardiola .
Same way Mikel is playing as a CAM now..

After watching Mexico, I have a question.
What is exactly wrong with our team
Why are we playing like this??
What can be done post World cup to prevent this same issue from happening over and over again.

It seems the old coach still havent learn from his mistakes...always looking for an excuse to give for his incompetence

Rohr Explains Why He Didn't Employ 3-5-2 Formation Vs Croatia

Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr has explained why he played four at the back for the entirety of the Super Eagles 2-0 loss to Croatia, discarding the 3-5-2 formation that worked well for him, especially in the second half, during the pre-World Cup friendlies.

The former Bayern Munich defender has pointed out that the loss to the Balkans was not as a result of the formation but due to the inability of the team to defend set-pieces.

''I think the organization was okay, we didn't concede the goal in normal play, we conceded the two goals from set-pieces and it is not a question of tactics or system,'' Rohr said at the post-match press conference.
''Our system was okay, we cannot play with three (defenders) when there is only one center forward, so we played with four because they were three strikers and the Croatian strikers are very strong and I was satisfied about the organization of the team.
''What we are missing today is to be more professional with set-pieces to avoid the two goals coming from these situations.
''Each game is different, we know we can play with three center-backs but it was not a good day to do that today.''
Rohr added that the young players in the team, thought to be Oghenekaro Etebo and William Troost-Ekong, made mistakes which led to the two goals conceded by the Super Eagles.

''We are disappointed, when you lose a match it is not a good thing for us but we must recognize Croatia had the better team tonight.
''My young players made some mistakes especially from the corners we worked so much. The first goal came from a corner, the second one also from a corner, a penalty.

''There were also so many fouls in the other box that could have been a penalty for us. but we have to accept this defeat and now we have to win against Iceland.
''All is possible still because we have only one point to win to win against the two other teams. If we win the next game, all is possible for the qualification.''

its disappointing that you are saying this. if the boy has a bad game let us say he had a bad game. if he was injured and not match fit let us say so. you know he was injured.you always claim to be a footballer yet look at what you are saying just to take cheap pot shots at the young boy.i like ebuehi but recently after the england friendly i became indifferent as to who starts between him and shehu. it was i and bengine who also said he plays football that defended ebuehi here when many came for his head after the serbia match telling them how long a groin injury takes to heal and he was proven right when ebuehi's club came out to say that they were afraid that he would not make the WC squad because he was just recovering from the groin injury he sustained two weeks before the match against serbia. yes, he underperformed but you cannot say that the injury is a nice excuse.

you are obviously denying the facts and deliberately suppressing the truth just to make your points and its not cool yet you claim to be a footballer or one who played the game beyond our normal backyard monkey post.not good bo, not good at all

After our first match seem Rohr was overwhelmed as to what tactic to adopt and who to execute the tactic. Even his subs were like reverting to the tactic he should have used earlier
I hope he throws caution into the air and come out to play

I was among the first to say long long ago that we surely won't get all but we must try to get the quality ones/potentials we can get our hands on.

We must not fail in this regard.... It must be part of our Post-Russia project alongside the gradual blooding in of Other Naija young super talents (the non-foreign borns) and good fringe players.

I have said it few times and I am saying this again.

somehow:

Apart from the rating you gave Ighalo, i agree with everything else, was discussing this with the guys we watched the match together as soon as i saw the line up. This would have saved Iwobi from tiring out too early, the few times he came to this position, he had attempts at goal which got blocked.

Insisting on playing 4:2:3:1 would have worked much more better if he deployed the right legs on the right positions.

It was a tactical game from both end but as you rightly said, Rohr didn’t use the right legs in the position.

Ighalo tried, I no go lie.

You do realize Sevilla played Unai Emery's typical 4-2-3-1? Meaning a double pivoted midfield consisting a CAM and 2 wingers..
As myself and edi287 have been discussing, in a 4-3-3 team with a more fluid CAM (Iniesta) he automatically becomes a CM not a CAM. Same applies to and is visible with him and Modric in Croatia.
