I don't know whhy i just like hearinf people from Anambra speak. Their Igbo usually sounds like they're speaking English and the swag is another thing.

For example i prefer using Ife(Awka and other Anambra) or Ive(Onitsha) to Iye(Wawa) or Ihe(Central igbo, though i like this one too).

Which igbo dialects do u enjoy hearing or speaking.

The Igbo dialects found in Ebonyi State are something I enjoy hearing, because I do not understand many things that they say when they speak in their dialect.

Sometimes, their dialect does not even sound Igbo. I find the Afikpo dialect very strange.

The Ebonyi dialect i heard someone speaking sounded like the one spoken in my home town. I think the person is from the Abakaliki axis.

Maybe you meant to compare the Southern Central Igbo(SCI) with the Northern Central Igbo(NCI).Dialects are too numerous to determine which one is spoken. Both Onitsha and Awka say "Ive" .

Ihe,Ive,Ife,Iye,Ihne,he,ha,hwe,ho,hwo are all different dialects. The NCI is "Ife" while the SCI is "Ihe".

I think the commerce and romance language is the NCI while the written Igbo embraces more of SCI.

I prefere the commerce Igbo. That's the Igbo spoken by Onitsha traders.

Many Southern Igbos are unaware of various dialects in Anambra and hence believe that the Igbo spoken in Onitsha same in the entire Anambra.Another interesting observation is that many Southern Igbos give names using the NCI except in few exceptions.

Such names as Ifeanyi,Ifeoma,Ifeyinwa,Nwora,Ifediora,Ozoemena rarely have the SCI versions of Iheanyi,Iheoma,Iheyinwa,Nwoha,Ihedioha,Ozoemela. It is mainly in Ikwerre that other versions are more popular like Hanyi,Homa,Woha etc.

I prefer deep southern speech forms to everything else.

I noticed that too, and I've always wondered why. I guess the older generation SCI had gotten overly accustomed to NCI influence. Although, I do know a number of people with proper dialectal/variant names.

if you come to NKWERRE-NWANGELE-ISU-NJABA-ORLU-IDEATO AXES

these are where central igbo is MOSTLY used.

BUT IN NKWERRE U HAVE SLIGHT VARIENCE.

EXAMPLES

WE USE ODOEMENA INSTEAD OF OZOEMENA
OKWARA INSTEAD OF OKPARA, OKPARA OR OPARA
IBEWUIKE INSTEAD OF IBEBUIKE

ETC

Nkwerre speaks the same dialect with some parts of Amaigbo,Orlu,Mbano,Nwangele and Njaba. The variance is little and noticeable in all these groups.

Substitution of "grin" with "Z" is widespread across Igboland. In Ngwa O(d)oemela is used in place of O(z)oemena as well while in Ikwerre Chi(z)i replaces Chi(d)i.

My first preference would be Onitsha dialect. Sounds so sweet to the ears. I wish every Igbo I could speak like that in public.

Secondly, I think I'll do with Nnewi.

But generally most northern Igbos speak a more pleasant-sounding Igbo.

Funny enough I've been trying to change my way of speaking to the Onitsha dialect unsuccessfully for many years. lol. Maybe I need to get my arze down to Onitsha for a couple of months(I hope I find the time for that though)

All these people sef wey never travel round come dey yarn opata.

You are correct. "Ole otu ime" is SCI. I think "Ndi otu nnu" is SCI too because I notice mbaise people say "Ndi otu nnu" as well and also, "Ndi otu o wu". I think Imo and Abia greet pretty much the same though. Do ikwerres say any of these?

Ohafia says "Ndaa".Umuahia says "Ndaa",Ikwerre says "Ndaa".Owerri says "I mela kp'ole".Mbaise shares with Owerri,Etche,Omuma and Ngwa.Ndoki says "Olia" and Opobo says "Olia".

Interesting, I'm starting to see a bit of migration going on between towns. I like using some of these greetings to different Igbo groups to get their reaction. I said dalu to an Imo person one time I was there and they looked at me like "huh??". They also say "Olia" in Mbaise a lot and Ngwas also use it. Don't let me start with Delta Igbo dialects, lol.

Do Ikweres greet with Kedu also?

Cross River Igbos generally use "jookwa" or "Ka" as a general form of greeting. These include Item,Abiriba,Ohafia,Edda,Ehugbo,Ohaozara and more. The Ngwa say "mazi" while in Imo and Anambra you have variances of "Ajee","Deme","ooni","daalu","Ndewo" and more.
