Politics / Buhari To Run For President In 2015 by sammyzacks(m): 10:01pm On Jan 09, 2013
Buhari To Run For President in 2015 - CPC.

**party elders have succeeded in convincing Buhari to run as president in 2015.
**we will achieve our political desire in the next general election.
**on the crisis in the party: "no court in this country can impose a member on the CPC". - Katsina CPC chairman.
**any party member not comfortable with political ideologies of Buhari should kindly form his own party.

An elder of the opposition Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Senator Hadi Abubakar Sirika has disclosed that elders of the party have succeeded in convincing General Muhammadu Buhari to run as president in 2015.
Senator Sirika, who made the disclosure in Daura on Sunday while donating vehicles to his constituents from the response they have received from so far, the General will run.

“Nigerians should get prepared to vote for the General in 2015. Buhari is our hope for 2015 and God’s wiling we will achieve our political desire in the next general election. Nigerians should be rest assured that General Buhari will join the race come 2015.”

Collaborating Sirika’s declaration, the interim chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in Katsina state, Alhaji Farouq Adamu Aliyu called for unity among members of the party, saying without it CPC will not achieve its objectives.

On the CPC’s internal crisis in Katsina state, Farouq said “no court in this country can impose a member on the CPC and therefore whoever is not comfortable with political ideologies of General Buhari should kindly form his own party or join one out of the over 50 political parties we have in the country. No one forces anybody to come to CPC and no one will stop you when you intend to leave,” he said.
He also called on Nigerians to continue to rally round General Buhari at all time, as according to him he is the only politician that is determined to salvage Nigeria.

Politics / Dana Air Resumes Lagos To Abuja Flight At N11,799 by sammyzacks(m): 10:35pm On Jan 04, 2013
Dana Air; banned from flying after one of its flights crashed and killed 153 people last year, resumed flights on Friday, selling its ticket for the Lagos-Abuja flight at almost half the price of other airlines.

The renewed flight; Dana Air Flight 9J353 left the Murtala Muhammed Airport II in Lagos, a few minutes after 10am and landed in Abuja at 11.05am with celebrities, journalists amongst its passengers.

The passengers gave a loud cheer and applause as the flight landed Abuja safely on Friday.

Tickets for the resumed flights were sold at half the price of normal flights charged by other airlines.

A one-way ticket to Abuja from Lagos was sold at N11,799 when other airlines charge about N25,000.

The resumption of the flight comes amidst criticisms and the call by the House of Representatives for a revocation of the airline’s licence, a few months after aviation authorities restored the licence.

Meanwhile the spokesperson of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Mr Sam Adurogboye, has stated that the airline is now fit to fly following a rigorous five step re-certification process.

Dana Air’s McDonnell Douglas MD-83 crashed into an apartment block in a densely populated suburb of Iju Ishaga in Lagos on June 3, killing everyone on board and 10 people on the ground.

The airline which was banned from flying after the crash resumed operations with its five remaining MD-83s, starting with a flight from Lagos to Abuja on Friday.

The Federal Government lifted the ban on the airline in September while investigation was on-going on the crash.

What kind of govt will allow an airline like Dana to resume flight. Investigations are not yet concluded and it is obvious that the airline compromised safety to profit.
Politics / Re: Lets Be Honest With Ourselves About The North. by sammyzacks(m): 7:44am On Jan 03, 2013
I have some remarks to make:
The true problem of Nigeria particularly the north, is not ethnic. It is religious.Nigeria can not split based on ethnic differences, but the easiest way to polarise Nigeria especially in the north, is by bringing in the religious factor. Islam as it is being practises by the northern Muslims poses a threat to the unity of Nigeria.
The average northerner, or hausaman is peace loving, accommodation and like the writer said, it is much safer to live in the north that in any part of Nigeria. but as peaceful as northerners are, the whole issue changes when politicians bring in the religious factor. And that is easier to have a Muslim from kaduna unite with another Muslim from Kano or jos that to have them unite with christains from their own states.
The south can live in harmony because regarless of their different ethnicities, they are majority Christians and the way Islam is practises in the south is different from the way it is practises in the north.Yakowa was resisted not on ethnic grounds but n religious grounds. Boko haram is propelled by it mission to islamise the north.Buhari, sambo, atiku, Ibb, elrufai, sanusi, although all come from different states from the north, are never divided because they have a common denominator: religion.
I can tell you guys more, but let me stop here so that you can assimilate.
Politics / Re: Why Are Important Northern Christians Targeted For Assasination? by sammyzacks(m): 7:22am On Dec 29, 2012
Stop being naïve and connect the dots.
AIG Haruna John, Yakowa, and Suntai were victims of similar incidences.they were both northerner and christains.haruna died for abubakar, yakowa died for his deputy to take over, suntai's deputy is a miuslim too.
Most of the boko haram attacks were directed at christians in the north.federal legislators were killed in jos.suswan raised alarm over his life; jonah jang is kept by God's grace. I pray for david mark. Its only God that can protect the northern christian from being wiped off by islamists. it is no longer a hidden agenda, it is now glaring for all to see.the issue that can truly divide nigeria is not ethnicity, it is religion as it is being practised in the north.

Oritsejafor was right:
I am of very strong opinion that there’s a grand plot to Islamise Nigeria. If there was any time that grand design was true, it’s now. Look at it. Open your eyes and see it. It’s there. It’s on ground. It’s happening before our very eyes.

But we are not going to keep quiet. We are going to be having some meetings to discuss and decide on the way forward for Nigeria and what next for Christianity in Nigeria. Because, if we do not talk to ourselves, and decide on what to do, they would wipe us out. It’s a gradual process. When it happens today, we console ourselves. We say to ourselves, it’s not going to happen tomorrow. It’s not going to stop. Who is benefiting from all these things? Go to Maiduguri. Go to Yobe State. Christians are been slaughtered like animals. And many are running away. Who’s benefiting? Who’s taking over everything? Who? Answer it for yourself.

There’s no unity in Nigeria. We’re pretenders. We’re hypocrites. There’s no unity in Nigeria. There’s none.
Some people have called for a forum such as a sovereign national conference to discuss Nigeria …
I support it. Call it anything. Some don’t like the word, “sovereign.” Some like the word “national.” Some don’t like the word “national,” they don’t like “sovereign.” Call it anything you want, but I think it’s important for all the nationalities in this country to sit down and discuss the project, Nigeria. Let’s talk about it. Let’s talk honestly. Let’s face fact. Let’s agree or disagree.

Let’s agree to stay together or disagree and go apart, peacefully. We don’t have to kill each other. Must we be together? I love for us to be together. Honestly, I believe that Nigeria has more to gain by being together, because part of the greatness of a nation is its diversity. I believe that. I believe we can negotiate ourselves into a very good union. But we’re not there yet. We must do that because we see this thing coming. A group of people cannot gradually take over a place.

You see, when some of us talk, they label us. But let’s face the fact; Tunisia was totally Christian at one time. Don’t you know that? Go and read your history. Turkey that we’re talking about now was completely Christian. There are lots of cities in the New Testament (Bible) that are still there in Turkey. Go through the whole of North Africa; Libya that you’re looking at today was all Christian. This was how it started. Gradually. Gradually, they swept Christianity out.

The ones they couldn’t conquer by force, they conquered by economics. Nigerians should open their eyes wide, because there’s not only a violent jihad going on, there is also an economic, religious and political jihad. All these are happening in this country. I think it’s time for us to start speaking. And that’s why I am talking now, because what happened yesterday (Christmas Day bombing of a church in Niger State) is unacceptable. Totally unacceptable.

People like Elrufai are enemies of Nigeria's progressive. He claims to be opposition but his opposition has no direction at all. Sometimes I wonder, what does he really stand for? I think now I know: he hates the fact that Goodluck , a christian is president, he hates Christians and everything that represents Christianity, he defends boko haram , he supports Buhari, and now Buhari is Boko harams confidant or negotiator. I think Elrufai is boko haram too. Its high time Nigerians ignored the guy, because obviously he is no longer relevant and has nothing to offer as far as nation building is concerned.

If there was no secession, there would not have been a civil war. If aburi agreement was honored there wouldn't have been secession. If there was no coup by the Igbo majors the wouldn't have been a reason for an aburi accord. Bottom line the problem preceded both Gowon and Ojukwu. Gowon had a challenge as the then president of Nigeria and he handled it the best possible way he could. He still remains the best, most honest and most selfless leader nigeria has ever had.The way Gowon gave out forgiveness to his defeated foe can only be described as christianly.I have listened to him before and I am convinced that he is sincere. Ojukwu had personal selfish ambition of ruling Nigeria but never had the opportunity. He founded APGA with the selfish aim of becoming president but failed. Achebe is sponsored by the western world to help fulfil their 2015 doom prophecy on Nigeria. But we know that it won't happen. Let's move forward and leave the past behind us!

A suicide bomber has hit St. Rita's Catholic Church in  Ungwar Yero  area of Kaduna metropolis. The attack which seriously injured the Reverend father in the church occurred around 8:45 AM during the morning mass.

Eyewitnesses told SaharaReporters that a lone car bomber approached the church gate hoping to quietly drive into the church before exploding the bomb but the security men at the gate refused him entry.

The bomber then reversed his car and rammed it forcefully against the gate of the church, the gate caved in as the bomb exploded injuring several churchgoers.

Nigerian troops have cordoned off the area while the police and Kaduna state government officials are calming down  christian residents in the area to avoid religious confrontations that typically follows such attack in the state
Politics / Boko Haram – House-to-house Search In Kano by sammyzacks(m): 8:43pm On Oct 24, 2012
The Joint Task Force (JTF) comprising soldiers, mobile policemen and members of the state police command yesterday morning carried out a massive house-to-house search in three flashpoints in Kano in search of members of the Boko Haram.

The areas – Tishama, Tsamiyar Boka and Hotoro quarters all in Kano metropolis – were cordoned off during the search. Members of households were prevented from moving in or out of their homes shortly after the 5:30 morning prayers.

The Task Force members were said to have stormed the area in the late hours of Monday night and carried out a massive house-to-house search for over seven hours.

Thousands of the Muslim faithful, who went out to observe the morning prayers, were locked out in the mosques as the team entered into the various homes.

Tension was very high in the metropolis yesterday as residents of the affected areas were seen in groups, apparently discussing the incident.

Spokesman of the JTF in Kano Lieutenant Ikedechi Iweha told our correspondent in a telephone interview that the team had carried out the operation in search of suspected Boko Haram members, adding that the exercise would continue.

“Yes, we carried out operation this morning, and, as you are aware, these places are dangerous spots. We don’t want to be taken unawares; as I speak we are in full control,” he said.

Apparently acting on information that gunmen could be planning attacks ahead of the last Eid-el-fitr Sallah celebration, JTF had carried out pre-emptive raids on some hideouts of the sect members in Kano. In the process, JTF discovered a bomb-making factory.

The force had arrested at least three persons and also recovered 33 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) with over 739 rounds of ammunition.

A similar raid by the force in Maiduguri, Borno State, also led to the recovery of large arms and ammunition.

The Kano State director of SSS, Mr.Bassey Eteng, told journalists recently at the Third Brigade Headquarters, in Kano, that three suspects had been arrested in a raid.

Briefing newsmen at the JTF headquarters in Maiduguri recently, the field operations commander, Colonel Victor Ebheleme, recently thanked residents of the area for cooperating with the security agencies by providing information on the hideouts of the sect members.

Politics / Book Haram Infiltrates The SSS. by sammyzacks(m): 10:50pm On Aug 31, 2012
Personnel records of former and current operatives of the State Security Service, including home addresses and names of immediate family members, have leaked on the Internet along with a message threatening the service’s operatives, the Associated Press news agency reported yesterday.

Daily Trust located cached version of the records initially posted on a website that reproduces news from Nigeria, but the newspaper will not re-publish them so as not to endanger the lives of the affected personnel.
The leaked details contain home addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, bank account numbers, service personnel numbers and names of immediate family members of more than 60 serving and retired personnel, including the SSS director-general Ita Ekpeyong.

The security records appear to be originally posted on August 13 under ‘comments’ to a story about a shooting incident in Yobe State, and remained freely available on the Internet for days.

Even though the records have now been removed from that website, the Google cached version is still available on the web, and therefore Daily Trust will not name the website where the details first appeared.

Many SSS personnel have been killed by suspected Boko Haram gunmen in the past three years of the sect’s insurgency, including in Borno, Kano and Yobe states.

The leaked SSS details were followed by another post on the same website about four minutes later containing a message threatening personnel of the service.

When Daily Trust contacted spokesman for the SSS, Marilyn Ogar, last night she said the names said to be mentioned could not be those of the service’s personnel, apart from the name of the director general, because it was impossible to obtain and expose SSS staff records.

Excerpts from the AP story

The leak of personal data of more than 60 past and current employees of Nigeria’s State Security Service remained easily accessible on the Internet for days and had details about the agency’s director-general, including his mobile phone number, bank account particulars and contact information for his son.

Many of agents listed who could be reached by the AP said they received no official warning from the spy agency that their information had been posted online nor been otherwise alerted.

A senior Nigerian intelligence official said authorities were aware that the leak had happened and that many were embarrassed by it. He spoke on condition of anonymity as information about the leak was not to have been made public.

Marilyn Ogar, a spokeswoman for the State Security Service, declined to answer the AP’s questions Thursday about the posting of the information.

Many agents for the typically secretive agency are preoccupied with concealing their identities, as most try to blend unnoticed into society.

The information leak came in two postings earlier this month on a website that provides rewritten news on Nigeria.

Though the comments have been removed, the AP is not identifying the website involved as cached versions of the comments remain online and intelligence service agents have been killed by Boko Haram members in the past.

The list includes former and current agents across the country, including Director-General Ekpeyong Ita. Those reached by the AP who were willing to talk expressed disbelief that sensitive information like that could make its way to the Internet.

“I was shocked to see my details posted on the Internet,” said one former agent, who declined to be named out of safety concerns. “I’ve not heard anything from anybody. I was surprised that such information could be leaked.”

Another man on the list said he simply once served as a doctor to help the agency on an on-call basis only. The list appeared to include lower-ranking agents, as well as one-time state directors for the agency.

Some of those contacted suggested that the list appeared to come from the agency’s pension department, as it mostly included retirees and listed bank account information for nearly all those named. It was not immediately clear if the information had been hacked from the outside and obtained or taken out by an agency employee or someone with access to the material.

Most of those on the leaked list of agents reached by the AP said no one from the federal government or the spy agency warned them that their personnel information had appeared on the Internet. Instead, colleagues and other former agents called each other to spread the news and later contacted the State Security Service themselves to report the breach.

It is unclear if the person who posted the information online really does have ties to Boko Haram, which has targeted security officials in the past.
