When I read the first part about that job not being in your state, the question that readily came to mind was, "did you serve in your state of residence?"- that's one reason Gowon's government gave us NYSC - to expand your cocoon. I woulda thought you'd have started from there - Abuja is the centre of the national cake and you'd surely have met someone or/and some people who could link you with where you wanna go back to. There are definitely a lot of people who due to the uncertainty of the labor market, stayed behind and went back to their state later.



Were you applying to the wrong jobs Whilst am not a supporter of a surveyor being a CRM at a bank, some schools of thought say "start from there", you'd probably get a chance to switch departments when the bank wants to evaluate investments or when someone leaves the bank - internal applicants get to the first choice list. That's just an example.



Now, what you want to do next depends on YOU. Do you really have the passion now for trading? Do you want to go to school because you have the interest or because you're 'frustrated'? Can't your dad help in seeking placement for you instead - someone who knows someone that knows somewhere for you? That's the very essence of networking; those people who are 'handy' when you need to draw.

I feel in your 'line of duty', it is better you go for the Msc degree later cos from your post, it appears your first degree had to do with CSC - there are quite a lot of IT related solutions coys are looking for; (current) skills you should be bothered about if you don't have or have not updated.




Some of those guys at CV don't have the edge you got but they are still making a living outta it. Let me scold you here, "be a man, stop being pampered". Your parent's support are not outta place but there comes a time when you take the responsibility (nothing personal bro).

thanks for the respond, i didnt take tha abuja job because i couldnt secure for myself an apartment, my parents were not cool with me taking the offer because they felt i will just go and suffer, so they were not even ready to help me out in getting a shelter unlike in my service year where they got a place for me.

NB: i didnt study Computer Science Agricultural Economics
and about updating....i have never for once stop learning....i am currently learning PHP

i just need advice jobs/career.

i just completed my National service almost a year now, afterward i got a job whose pay is not that cool though, so i didnt take up the offer.
i wouldnt have mind taking the offer but the job location differs from the state im residing, so if i am to take up the job,i will have to rent an apartment and all that.(Abuja).

Alot of times i have been called for test and interviews though i dont attend most because i have a choice of jobs i want (IT related).

i have never been scare of not getting a job....dont even really know why (may be my faith and confidence in my skills), whilst at service people
were so concern about Post-NYSC.I just acted cool like i gat a job waiting for me.

My problems now are:

* The pity people have on me.....my mum/dad's friend asking them....how is your son? has he gotten a job? (even when they come around and find me at home )
* Me still staying with my parents....no matter how caring they are to me, sometimes they do stuff to me that i find annoying but what can i do
i am still staying under there roof.

I am loosing faith as day goes by which i dont like (mind you i havent lost my faith in God totally, i know he is watching me from above).
No steady income, some months i get alot of work at hand, some times i can hardly subscribe my blackberry. (though i must confess my dad is really trying).
Did i mention he bought me a very clean golf3 car few months back?

You might start thinking....Didnt this guy had any concrete plan at hand while in school/service? yea....i did/do....just didnt work out as planned both my plan and the back-up plan(s).
My plan was to

1.first get a job, work a little to be able to sponsor myself for my Msc in Nigeria (didnt really want my parents to do that).

The backup plans were.....okay! if i dont get a job, whats next?

2.May be apply for my Msc abroad in some moderately cheap schools, got my mind on Canada, so my dad can sponsor that (not the cheap ones though).

3.register a company and start importing gadgets, computer parts and open up a repair/sales and maintenance store for ICT gadgets (computers, blackberry, HTC, Apple stuffs etc.)
yea! congratulations to me, i did registered the company...with the help of my dad....spent almost 100k. (thats how far that plan went FOR NOW)

Now i am very much confuse on what next to do....im even kinda regretting not taking up an Msc form from a Nigerian University which is my dads plan for me next year (2013).
