Family / The Husband Is The Head Of The Family? by Seun(m): 3:40pm On Apr 20 |
"The husband is the head of his family. He should strive to be wiser, smarter, & wealthier than his wife. But in any case, a wife must defer to her husband's authority as her leader. He should listen to her, but after he listens, she must accept his decisions. He's in charge." This is the traditional and religious view of marriage. Do you agree with it? I subscribe to the modern view but I worry about its practicality. My view is that every couple has a different dynamic and their families should be ruled by consensus, but the partner who is more competent in a particular area should be deferred to more often when dealing with issues in that area. If the wife is an accountant, she'll control finances. 6 Likes |

Politics / "Who Will Tell The President?" By Laolu Akande by Seun(m): 12:21am On Apr 18 |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnB33y6mZLQ And here is my take for the week entitled: "Who Will Tell the President?" - Mr Laolu Akande. There are things that the public are interested in but seem not to be getting the due attention of the president. At least, there is no communication about these things. For instance, the restoration of the social investment programme. Over a month ago, it was announced that it will resume urgently, even as an emergency. It is now April, and this has not been restored. 17 Likes 1 Share |

Some of you haven't spoken in tongues yet. Even though everybody is speaking in tongues around you, you still don't speak in tongues. Why because you are saying to yourself "I don't want to force anything. If God is going to give me his special tongues he will give me." (laughter) |

Elzazzi:This woman was "healed" by Pastor Chris. She was among the people who rose up Update: She wasn't among the people in wheelchairs. After the healing of the people in stretchers, they brought people in wheelchairs and many people standing up to the stage. Pastor Chris declared that they are all healed and they started celebrating on the stage. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ 6 Likes 2 Shares

So what gave Pastor Chris the assurance that they would rise when he commanded them to rise? That he would not be embarrassed? It's the fact that they had been pre-screened by Pastor Amenkhienan and his other close helpers. He knew that they could all walk. 34 Likes 3 Shares |

papyjaypaul:I listened to her. Her view is that if she is given a task and refuses to carry it out, or fails to carry it out as expected, then her reason or explanation for not doing it must be accepted. Which means the task will not get done. I don't see how that kind of management could possibly be productive. 9 Likes 1 Share |
Nairaland / General / Mukina2, Nairaland's First Supermod, Has Resigned by Seun(m): 8:49pm On Mar 03 |
When I started Nairaland, I operated it all by myself, but by 2007 I was overwhelmed. Mukina2 swooped in and volunteered to be a super-moderator. She also helped me to recruit section moderators. This enabled us to move forward. Initially, she worked for free, but over time she became a paid supermod. One of the best. Last month, I gave her a particular instruction which is the most basic instruction you can give a moderator. Clean up ALL the sections you've been assigned to and report to me after EACH one. She steadfastly refused until the month end. She felt that she was doing her job and there was therefore no need for me to tell her what to do. I insisted that she must choose between resigning and following this particular instruction. She eventually chose to resign, saying "let's go our separate ways". We will miss her a lot. I will miss her a lot. I wish her the best in all her future endeavours. She will do great. She may return if she changes her mind, but the show must go on. 33 Likes 6 Shares |

Politics / Wale Edun's Plans To Improve The Nigerian Economy by Seun(m): 10:31am On Feb 24 |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNf97-hy7Gw Our Finance Minister, Mr. Wale Edun, who is responsible for fiscal policy, appeared on ChannelsTV to share his plans to improve the Nigerian economy: 1) Giveaways. He spent half of his time talking about giveaways. He feels most of the excess naira in circulation has gone to the rich, so he wants to share more excess naira with the poor as well. ๐ค 2) To plug revenue leakages by channelling all revenue directly to the FG and disbursing expenditures directly to intended recipients without intermediaries who might embezzle the money. โ๏ธ 3) To increase tax collection by 70% this year without increasing tax rates and eliminating some types of tax that are unnecessary. โ๏ธ 4) He want to pay back Ways & Means by looking for new sources of revenue. I felt that his explanation of how that would be achieved was vague. It's unlikely to happen after CBN's data showed an increase in W&M. โ 5) Collaborating with CBN by increasing interest rates to attract FPI. I find this to be short-sighted if attracting hot money is the perceived benefit of raising interest rates and not the reduction of inflation, & FDI. Also, our real interest rates are still negative, so how will this work? โ Overall, Mr Edun has some decent ideas but his overall plan is inadequate to solve our problems. I recommend inviting the economists who spoke at Proshare's Economist Conference to Abuja for a retreat where they can help him to develop a comprehensive plan that might actually work. 30 Likes 2 Shares |
