Good morning everyone, pls I need help my 11 months old Boy started pooping solid on Monday and he cried so badly before he could get it out,so I instructed my wife to always give him water with the hope that it will help soften the poop next time but to our surprise last night the episode repeated itself and I almost join him in crying cos I cud not bear to see him cry that much pls wat can we do to help him?

This is reassuring cause people here are making me feel like it's cause of ebf.
Think she might like adult food more but I'm scared of trying cause she hasn't been taking enough water.
For now it's still plain pap she prefers. Tried nutribom cereal this morning she didn't like it.

Don’t let anyone make you feel bad as babies differ and it’s not an EBF thing at all. I also exclusively breastfed my DS and Friday made him 6 months and two weeks. All you need is patience and more patience. A child who lived on breastmilk for six months of his/her life wouldn’t just open his/her mouth to accept something different immediately. The first three days was war for us as he wasn’t willing to take anything puréed, formula or water. I guess my neighbors would be wondering what I did to him those days that made him cry so loud and long.

I continued breastfeeding and by the fourth day, I tried again with water and he finished it (I used a spoon and cup). Presently, I am still shocked at how much he loves water in such a short time.

So far, we have tried little quantities of FrisoGold rice, Oats (old fashioned), puréed banana, puréed Avocado + formula, steamed sweet potatoes + egg yolk porridge and puréed pears and I noticed pears are his best; the only meal we don’t spend 2 hours or more eating, dancing, singing, making funny faces etc. As for Oats? Don’t even bring it close to him as he will hit your hand continually to mess the whole place up , and nothing still comes in between him and his breastmilk. I am still looking at other options for his Oats (say teething cookies) so that he can still benefit from it.

- Try infusing puréed pear into her plain pap. I bet she may like it and it also helps with constipation. Sadly, my DS doesn’t like pap. Twice we tried it, he poured it all back at me .

- Try to sweeten her water with strained puréed pear or apple.

Be rest assured she will come along. Just take it easy with her.
