You want to marry her because she is a citizen. That's the main motivation for you ...

So just know it won't be a marriage because this is purely transactional so don't go in their with warped expectations.

Don't go there looking for love because she is just desperate to have a family while you want documents

So don't call this what it is not. This is an arrangement

Thanks.

I know it looks transactional however, I have dated women outside my race here that I could have gotten papers from however we just seem not to get along. I am also starting my nursing program soon which guarantees me papers.

I appreciate your input. Woman matter Dey Taya me sometimes.

Family / Should I Be Concerned About Marrying A 39yrs Old Woman? by Smile4mee01: 12:23pm On Jan 24
I'm a single 39yr old Nigeria guy in diaspora trying to settle down and going to Nigeria to marry is not an option.

I'm an introvert who has been through some childhood trauma in my family and really fear marriage because of what I have seen and how bad it can be sometimes.

However, an old female friend and colleague of mine who we worked together in Nigeria and now in canada recently contacted me and she is also single and not had children. She is doing well for herself and now a citizen there while I'm not. A part of me is concerned about

1. Fertility : I desire children. However, can she have me healthy children @ 39. How many can she have? I discussed us trying for a child , she appears to want a.marriage first. But what gurantees do I have to have children.

Should I be concerned? I dont want to enter one chance.

Please I use God beg you, no insults just advice. Abeg. God bless you.

Family / Single Nigerian Ladies In Diaspora, Any Reason Why You Turn Down Our Guys? by Smile4mee01: 12:57pm On Nov 25, 2023
I have been abroad for a while now and i am curious to know why some of our ladies decline dating or marrying fellow Nigerians in the diaspora. I have tried to date a few any they are often quick to assume i am after them for their papers while i just prefer my own, someone who understands my culture and where i have come from. Even when i try to date the ones that don't have paper, regular work visa holders like me. They seem to want to be with the guys that have papers.

Also, when i am old, i would like to return to Nigeria. Marrying outside would make that transition very difficult.

I study other races, Immigrant groups from India and Asia. they work together well, and don't have these difficulty.

Should i give up on being with a Nigerian or keep trying ?

Regards.

Romance / Are Relationship Experts And Pastors Selling Singles False Hope ? by Smile4mee01: 4:27pm On Sep 13, 2023
It's common to find relationship experts and pastors online telling/advising singles on what to do marry and thrive. While some of them make sense, sometimes I think they are preying on singles especially women by selling thier books and content i.e

7 things to say before I do.
22 things every single should know about marriage.
101 things to make your wife happy. Etc

Just like steve Harvey. Many of these people profit from the desire/fear women wanting to get married.
What went wrong ? Why is the quality of our relationships on the decline?

Our parents and ancestors never required several books and seminars on marriage ? Infact many of them never prayed endlessly about marriage. They saw a good gurl and the family inquired about marrying her.

Infact Abraham sent his servant in the bible to go get his son a wife without courtship, and all these things being preached today as necessary.

I'm sure we all saw the recent video of ladies in wedding gowns praying to be married. All the advice singles and women need are already in the bible.

Are singles especially our women being sold a false hope about marriage?
Webmasters / Have You Ever Considered Quitting Social Media? by Smile4mee01: 3:42pm On Sep 13, 2023
If you are a youth, you are probabaly on one or two social media platforms.i.e Instagram , Facebook, Tik tok, twitter etc I rarely watch TV these days.

I recently saw the hours I spent on each social media app last week and was concerned. Just like dopamine, it's becoming irresistible to surf the internet doing nothing.

It does appear to me SM especially IG, tik tok is saturated with scantily Dressed women seeking attention, some just dancing away. Low budget bloggers pasting thier opinion on every matter, some giving advice to people not seeking it. Not so funny skits, after which you watch it you regret wasting your data. The desire to trend at all cost. As in it's kinda endless

If you spend 24hrs/day with free wifi it's not enough to view the content being pushed out daily. Are we losing focus on what's important and helping these influencers and skit makers to relevance.

I even heard of a student who quit university to join Onlyfans.

Before you come at me, I know there has been some good from social media but the opportunity cost with respect to time on those app is alarming.

Please for those who have quit social media, Has your life been better for it?

There are many marriages that seemingly looks great in Nigeria, but the desire to move abroad is the beginning of the end of the marriage because the cultural foundation upon which many marriages are built in Nigeria is so different from abroad.

Welcome to Melbourne.

I’ll recommend you contact your uni for a short stay, I stayed in uni accommodation for 8days before I moved out. This allows you to inspect a few houses before you rent them.

Most ppl share accommodation initially as it’s cheaper www.flatmates.com.au

My iphone 7 started restarting by itself yesterday, it will work for like a minute and restart again so I thought probably it's the battery misbehaving.

I allowed the battery to run down with the hope that it'll reset itself if I charge it from 0 but the hope was dashed when the battery failed to charge more than 3% for hours.

Note that the battery health is 100%.

This Sad.

As an exbanker,
The bank should do more to help protect naive customers, rather the bank would mandate all accounts to be subscribed to e-channels such as SMS banking, ATM, mobile banking etc..

And these are the channels fraudstars use to steal funds from illiterate customers.

Many of our population is yet to be internet savvy, for those ppl, let them stick to the traditional way of banking by using their withdrawal booklets, but the greed of banks earning Non interest income would. Kt let them do what's right.

Also,
The woman should check within her family and friends, these things rarely just happen. In my experience in banking I have seen sons dupe thier parents, seen wives steal for husband to transfer to boyfriend, daughters transfer funds to boyfriend ,houseboy & sales boy steal from oga etc.

Even When I opened an account for my mother, I did not give her ATM, she only gets SMS alert.

Let he bank investigate.

Do you mind explaining the bolded? I didn't get it.

I believe there are 2 schools of Japa.

1st school : haven experienced the good life here , want to remain here and do everything to stay here legally.

2nd school: These ones don’t like it here, they would rather sacrifice 3-5yrs of hardwork life and live financially free in their home country if done right. Which is also good.

So to your question, after studying here and getting post study visa which is maybe 3yrs or so. You can choose to spend that time making money, living frugally and returning home a multimillionaire.

Thanks for your email.

I would recommend you find an agent to work with as most universities prefer you to deal with one. and the universities pay agents a commission for every successful applicant. A good agent will answer all of your questions, in fact a good agent will weigh your chances before you apply and advice accordingly.

Also most universities , have approved agents they use on the school website.

I used BCIE in Ikeja Lagos then.

But away from that, I will like to encourage you and all those in your situation to take time to read nairaland threads. Many of your concerns has been answered in the past by someone else.

I remember it took me weeks to read through all relevant threads on nairaland which then allowed me ask my agent specific questions.

Good luck.

However there are many other alternatives. You could go to flatshare, it’s a common site for those who want to share. Or Facebook marketplace. Or realestate.com.au

My discipline: Financial Analysis ( Investment )

Studying and working is tough, but very doable. The challenge brings out the best in you as you grind a little harder. Balance is key. When you start making money you are tempted to work and forget studying , when you only study the financial burden weighs on you.

What most students do is to work like crazy during vacation, the money made during vacation is often enough to pay your fees in part and live comfortably.

Australia is a good country guys. No Nigerian I have met here has regretted coming, the few who left left as multi millionaires of done right.

I think your answer is in the bible.

A Virtuous-woman who can find?

A good woman is irreplaceable, I believe any man who gets one as a wife ,got a gift from God.

As men, we don’t realise it early. We only know if a woman has been truly good towards the end of life. When we are at our weakest , when we can be discarded easily. Na old age we set really know better wife.

Please my IELTs result just came out with a score of 7.5,please can I apply now and get enrolled in May? Proposed school is torrens University for master's in accounting and finance
Please I'll need your advice and comment on this.
Thank you.

Well done. Your score is great. Just check with the school as long as each band is not less than 6.

Visa grants and indeed lots of visa are attended to very fast as the govt is fast tracking most visa especially those outside Australia. They want you to bring you money, work and help build something.

Don’t know much about Torrens but a few Nigerians go there especially because of its affordability.

Accounting and finance is good with lots of prospects. A few months ago it was kinda bleak getting PR with this course but recently with stiff global competition for skills PR prospects is slightly better.

Health courses ie nurse, doctor remains the skill to beat and maybe teaching.

But don’t worry, just enter first. Things will be clearer as you go by.

Good luck.

Congratulations to the family.
At all at all na him bad.

But I dont personally subscribe to this cheap gesture. What about all the other baby's born in the state, are they not deserving of some gift.

Rather than do this, why not fight for a better healthcare for women and children, why not have goals like 2023- no woman will lose her life or her babys due to pregnancy. Why not create a structure where all nursing mothers are given Pampers, clothes something to ease the burden of having a child for the 1st 3 months.

Our first lady's need to do better if they are to be valued. But they are all 1st beneficires of looted funds hence they look away.

Congratulations to the family, happy.new year.

The irony of the issue is that, it is the women that have suffered most in this dispensation of monogamy.
Go to churches, you see ladies in their 40s unmarried, and without a hope of where a husband will come from.
Single mothers littering everywhere, if polygamy was not frowned at, these women will be settled and have some direction.

Some people like to delude themselves by saying marriage is not everything, very misleading thing to say.
Even abroad, oyinbos take marriage very seriously talkless of Africa, if marriage was not important, why do women keep singing the carry me dey go song.

The summary of it is, westernization has made the life of an average woman worse , but we are not ready yet for this discussion.

Hmnnn…well said.
Sometimes I think polygamy was in place initially to allow every woman an opportunity to be a wife and a mother to children.

But women see it different, they think the other woman is taking from what she ought to have to herself.

someone needs to research if women in the Middle East predisposed to polygamy at happier than western women?

Better question is

Will women rather be 50, no husband and no child than be 50, married as a second wife with kids?

Business / Re: CBN Cashless Policy Is Good For POS Business by Smile4mee01: 10:29pm On Dec 07, 2022
thebosstrevor1:
Most POS operators are concerned about the new CBN cashless policy, I personally think they shouldn't stress themselves and I think the new CBN policy is a good one for them.

Since a cashless policy is the primary goal of the CBN, if you are a pos operator, you can use this to your advantage, now that the government is encouraging a cashless system that means more business will come your way.

for instance, if someone wants to pay his children's school fees, that person can walk to any POS operator and do that, and you will be able to charge your usual transaction fee

if someone wants to pay for goods and they are far away from an atm or bank, they can now use your POS services to do that transaction

if someone wants to transfer money from their atm to their family member in another location, then it is easy for them to use your POS

people that want to receive cash can also use your POS service, they will transfer the money they need to your account and you give them cash while you take your commission

The CBN cashless policy will bring more customers to your POS Business, now people will be able to pay for anything through POS and you will cashout, you will get more customers than ever before.

Anyway, just see the big picture, fantasize, dream and think of how much money you will make from CBN cashless policy.

Tell me why a customer needs to use a POS for a non cash transaction when his Mobile app or online banking can do the same from the comfort of his phone?

Ensure all communication (back&forth) is via email so you can attach it to your email to explain why you are using a fellow colleague. This will give credence to the reference letter you design yourself and you should also notarise it.

Guys please I need advice.

I'm in Australia trying do my assessment with VATESSE.

I used to work in a bank in Nigeria for over 6yrs. The statement of service given to me by HR is not in line with the format VATESSE will use to access me.
Questions

1. Can a letter from anyone in the bank signed on the letter head do?

Though ppl i have spoken to are scared as HR frowns at ppl signing such letter.

2. How far do they do in verifying these documents?
3. Is it advisable to attach the 1 page document of statement of service from HR with whatever I can get from a staff who I worked under?
Kindly advice please.

Thanks for this bro.

Next year election is not going to fix anything in Nigeria. That's the truth. Nigeria's system need to be overhauled or everyone should go their separate ways. The only people benefiting from the system we have are the politicians.

My wife is actually way younger. Is it possible for her to start her own study after i might finish my PhD? Or studying at the same time as me? I am just thinking that if she is working while i am studying, she will be saving up during the course of my study.

Sir, abeg reply me. Thanks.

Though i am trying to explore USA route also.

Your wife may be in a better position to study since she is younger and that will earn her more points. But alot of things come into getting PR here. Where you study ? what course you study ? is the course in demand or in the SOL ( Skilled occupation list ) ? Your Phd is also good as it earns you lots of points but if you will be close to 45 around when they are considering your application, its may not work.

I would not recommend you and your wife studying simultaneously because its expensive, who takes care of the kids. of would you pay child care cost ?

USA too is very good. infact some people migrate from here to USA. USA remains the hub of economics opportunities . Also the immigration there may not be straight forward.

Personally, i encourge anyone to go where they can thrive. once you enter. You will get to know things as you go by. For example I have met Master holders who could not get PR with thier Msc, but later got PR by studying carpentry, or being a chef. Its only when you are on ground that you can see or hear these things.
