Hi Tehn, my name is Eze chinonso, i am 26yrs old lady. I need ur help financially. It all started in the year 2015 when i noticed my heart beat was irregular, easy fatigability and difficult in breathing that what made to see a doctor at Gold Cross hospital Ikoyi Lagos the same year. After series of test and scan it was cleared that i had mitral valve heart disease which i was on medication since then before i was referred to LUTH for more medical attention.it was in LUTH that i was told the final solution is surgery which was done this year on May 15th with the help of my former employer.they paid #3.5m for the open heart surgery. But the problem now is that the surgery had fail which made me to go back to my doctor and he refered me to Tristate in BABCOC university Ogun state.i have done all the neccessary assessments and the new surgery was estimated at #4million. I have my old and new medical report for verification. Dr Nwaosu is my doctor in Tristate. I stay at no 4 Alake lane Ojota Lagos.
This is my pic after the first surgery

Dear Adaeze91,

Thanks for your mention and we are sorry to hear about your ongoing medical challenges. However, TeHN has stopped accepting medical cases as we have no expertise needed to coordinate cases with such degree of varying complexity.

We apologise for our inability to help at this time but we shall continue to pray with you for your speedy recovery

Nairaland / General / Tehn’s Proactive Measures For 2017 Christmas by TeHN: 2:34pm On Dec 04, 2017
It’s that time of the year again…whoopieee dooooo…. Countdown to festivity is now in full gear and with that comes the need to spread love even though we walk in love every day of the year and this month is simply no exception.

We plan to make this December special with our two pronged approach to address and aware a wide range of audience on the dangers of slave trade be it in our homes, workplace and most especially our youths embarking on crazy journeys in search of greener pastures.

Firstly, there are so many individuals still not aware of the hassles and the dangers of this slave trade and if they are aware, we need to make them understand the inherent risks hence our intention to employ the media using jingles precisely to sensitize and pry into the subconscious of youths having thoughts of engaging in this dangerous act. This jingle will help address the form of slavery which Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King fought for, restoring our freedom and enabling our youths to do what is right. This absurdity should not be tolerated in the 21st century, not in 2017. We kick against this barbaric act.

We understand that in a country as Nigeria, times are hard which propels many to engage in this demeaning act.

Secondly, we plan to provide some sort of financial relief to people (struggling students, job seekers and families) who might be struggling this Christmas period and don't have anywhere to turn to.

We will publish a guideline of who can apply for the financial relief and the selection criteria in due course

Finally, we continue to thank you our supporters for your relentless acts in helping us impact lives positively. We couldn't have done this without you. We now call on you as we’ve always done to help us achieve this two laudable project in a timely manner

Dear VickyRotex,

The verification has to be done by a verifiable Nairalander in order for us to ascertain the authenticity of the case and verification process.

VickyRotex:
Hello TEHN,
So I just did a quick Facebook search, and I found the details to contact the family of the boy.

According to the poster: "You can meet Victor and his Relations here. 11 B Owok Ekong Street, off Sampson Akpan Street,Uyo or call 08029426481."

I don't know how the verification process with TEHN works, but please note that I am willing to speak to my friend in Uyo (if required) to visit the family to verify for all.

Thank you!

Re: Further Update on Tomiwa

Sequel to our last communication regarding the above matter, we listened to the feedback received both on this thread and behind the scene to find a suitable worst case approach that satisfies all parties involved.

We’ve since reported the challenges we faced in finding an acceptable resolution on the case even though our intention from inception was to help find the best solution either through corrective surgery or provision of care that would have enabled him manage the condition and live as normally as possible.

Since our last update, some members (non TeHN) behind the scene have helped Tomiwa open a dedicated account to be operated by his parents and we are now in the position to transfer all donated funds (N97,860 made up of N20K and £170) directly into Tomiwa's nominated account.

We sincerely hope the parents will feel empowered with the money and in turn use it judiciously for Tomiwa’s development and/or well-being

Thanks once again to each and every one of you that partnered us on this case. May the good Lord continue to meet you at the time of your needs

Re: Final Update on Tomiwa

TeHN has decided to formally close this case and as such implore that you consider our final position below.
We explored and focused on two options (corrective surgery & enrollment at a charity run school for blind people) available to us in helping him get better at the time

Both options proved abortive for one reason or the other at the time and we were left with the question of what to do with donated funds. We decided at the time to explore empowering the parents with the funds so they can be self-sufficient and in turn capable of managing his disability going forward.

Sadly, they haven’t been responsive to our subsequent overtures as they categorically stated they aren’t interested with the funds due to their religious beliefs.

To enable us close this case, we are proposing to roll the remaining funds (N20k & £170) over for future TeHN cases or offer full refund to those that donated on this thread.

Kindly send us an email at ehelpersnetwork@gmail.com if you are interested in the refund. We will conclude no one is interested in the refund if we don’t receive any request by the end of June

We thank you all for your continued support.

Family / Please Help Mrs Sola by TeHN: 10:13am On Apr 05, 2017
Mrs Sola is a single mother of four currently experiencing extreme financial difficulties having been abandoned by her husband. She is/was a hard-working woman who accepted her fate and has since unfortunately lost her job/business. Her current situation is making it extremely hard for the family to even get by with basic needs.

She was homeless for about eight months until she gathered enough money with the help of compassionate people like you guys to rent a room in an uncompleted building in the slums of Illupeju, Lagos, December 2016.

Our field worker at TeHN visited her to confirm the story after initially receiving the cry for help via our dedicated channel. The TeHN Execs have subsequently deliberated on the case and concluded that she is worthy of our help after considering all available options.

We intend to commit the sum of N100K to this worthy cause and encourage those that are able to partner us to help sow seeds into this family’s lives to please support us with whatever they can afford to spare.

We intend to utilise all donated funds including the 100K committed by TeHN by focusing on the following key themes:

Education - Payment of WAEC and outstanding school fees for her children

Empowerment – Working with her to establish a profitable business

She is available for any job that requires someone with certificate in secretarial studies

As always, we understand and appreciate our country’s economic situation isn’t at its best but we implore that you draw from your historical strength of giving back to the needy to help us alleviate this family from abject poverty.

Everything looks perfect on the outside.

Graduate, good relationship, good family, Going abroad for Masters, Good financial and health situation etc but psychologically, I'm dying and suffering from depression.

I suddenly have become so timid, lacking confidence and slipping away from friends, family, everyone except my gf. These days, I just lock myself inside the house, don't pick calls and then the cycle of depression starts. When it's night, I'm already scared of tomorrow because I know it's gonna be the same cycle.

I don't even know what I'm depressed about but I am very sure something is wrong with me.

I need a psychologist, Counselor or just anybody who is willing to help before I do something stupid.

Family / Are You Burnt Out With No Where To Turn To Or Just Simply Depressed? by TeHN: 6:02pm On May 03, 2016
TeHN is giving you the chance to download free copies of an e-book from this wonderful author who decided to share her experiences for the sole purpose of lending a voice to those that may be suffering in silence.

The book is available to download for the next 3 days only!

Dr Vivian Nkem's words:

As I continue to lend my voice to the cause to create public awareness of depression and help people, I am this period putting my money where my heart is, and giving my book “Shadows in the mirror - the many faces of depression” for FREE DOWNLOAD on KINDLE for 3 days, starting today. I will also be giving away 5 free paperback copies in the coming weeks, but need to work out the logistics of how to choose winners - If you have any ideas please let me know.

Recent events in the news remind me of why I wrote the book in the first place - and it is my greatest desire to eradicate ignorance around the issue, give hope to people, and save lives.

At the time I experienced it personally, I was clueless.. But little did i know how so many people are suffering, and some don’t have a name for their predicament, or even know where to turn for help………

*Depression is one of those things some people think happens only to white people…. But no! Black, or white, Yellow or orange, all races are affected

*It is one of those things people belittle saying “ oh smile, and snap out it”…. But actually depression is that serious, it has been forecasted by WHO to be the 2nd leading cause of death and disability by 2020 only after coronary heart disease (Not HIV, Cancer, diabetes etc…)… now thats less than 4 years away!

*It is one of those things some people assume happens to only a class of people, “the weak”... But actually, depression can happen to anyone, and infact it is the strong that are most prone to depression

*It is one of those things people think can be avoided if you have $1 million dollars maybe… But truth is, depression does not resect your bank account. Rich or poor, different factors can cause depression, and man, woman, boy or girl, depression does not respect who you are.

*It is one of those things than can lead to suicide, but some people will call the person "selfish for killing themselves” and say black people don’t commit suicide…. But truth is of the 800,000 suicides annually, 75% occur in the developing world like Nigeria (WHO statistics), and people that attempt suicide are actually looking for a means of escape from the depressive feelings they experience. Many of them don’t really want to die.

I could go on and on….

We can all do well to take mental health more seriously and look after our mental wellbeing (which most of us ignore) so as to help prevent depression… But truth is ..

If you are suffering, please don’t suffer in silence. SEEK HELP.

Depression respects no one. It kills. It is painful, but it is also treatable - earlier rather than later for the sake of “life”.

It is time we all get educated, and I am doing my bit to do something about it. What about you?

Please CLICK on the link and DOWNLOAD YOUR FREE COPY TODAY … And please don’t keep it to yourself. SHARE THIS and join me in raising awareness - Free book offer ends on 5 May 2016.

Depression is not weakness...seeking help is a sign of strength

Field worker's report:

I visited Mrs Akinlana today as planned at her shop/residence..

She has 4 children –
Oldest 12 years is in Jss 2,
2 Kids in primary school,
A baby of about 14 months who I met with her.

She narrated her ordeal with her hubby, how he left home unannounced leaving her to cater for 4 children and with 9months rent in debt. She mentioned that she has been the one paying for the children's school fees for 4 years now - about N53k per term‎. This has affected her business a great deal. They also had some extra budgetary expenses last Dec that made her collect money from Corporative hoping that her husband will refund her as promised. She has recently finished paying the loan. She is not owing anyone except for the Landlady and school fees.

She is looking at assistance with the rent, present schools‎ fees and some funds to restock her business.

She appears to be very hard working. She makes hair, sells soft drinks (bottles & can), hair products and extensions, sugar, exercise books and so on. She also makes and sell washing soap.

Her rent is N2000 per month for a room. They occupy 2 rooms and are owing for 9months.

We have advised her to release the husband's room to the landlord so that the rent doesn’t keep accumulating‎ as it isn’t sustainable going forward. A new rent is due by June.

School fees : N71, 500 for the 3 children. School bill attached.

As a result of this decision, 7 applicants out of 413 valid entries shall progress through to the second/final stage.

We are now in the process of sending out your individual outcomes so please ensure you check the email address you used in sending the entries.

How we arrived at the final 7:
• 8 markers independent of the committee were recruited to help mark the essays
• Each essay was assigned a pseudonymised ID then forwarded to the markers
• The markers were instructed to strictly use the published marking guide (as shown below) as reference when marking the essays
• We decided to use percentile ranking so as to embed consistency and fairness into our scoring methodology
