Politics / Re: Osun Boosts Cattle Production With 10,000 Capacity Ranch by Ufeolorun(m): 6:48pm On Oct 22, 2012
This discussion is about a far reaching policy, don't be goaded into the same funny, long winded arguments which we've heard times without number on this platform. Tinubu still has an image problem,it worked against ACN in Ondo but one thing is becoming clearer;he's the new poster boy - His strongest critics have been none-SW guys(some for valid reasons though)

redsun:The big pictures starts from my neck of the woods, Nigeria needs a clear path to progress and I believe 'local patriotism' is a readily available platform to achieve it.fluffy Nigerian nationalism will not get us anywhere;it's been proven, the building blocks on which the country stands must take ownership of the country.
By the way,I don't think you r the most or one of the liberal/open minds on this platform so no need to grandstand;check it out, you have been one of the cheer-leaders vouching for a learned professor with a heavily divisive perception.

This takes us a tinsy little step closer to integration,Ondo would have been a cake walk if there were solid(ier) reasons.A wake up call, yesterday was.
Nice one, the state of Osun.

Politics / Re: Why Do People Hate Bola Tinubu? by Ufeolorun(m): 10:29pm On Oct 15, 2012
Probably because he's slightly over rated,he obviously talks the talk but they don't measure up with some of his actions.
He's got mastery of the strategic term: positioning.
I,sometimes wonder why a better, articulate and coherent man isn't in his position.
SW would have been better off with someone like Olu falae.

I hope those governors especially Amosun,do not wait for free-wheeling jonathan or any of his anarchist mates before taking action.
I have made up my mind to never talk about Jonathan again but its seems the shock from his mind boggling incapacity is permeating all aspect of our lives.
The message of incompetence coming from above is sad-- everyone is just flipping messing about.
Oh!OBJ- we once had a commander in chief ,despite....
God save us from a casual presidency.

Politics / Re: An Intelectual Responce To Chinue Achebe by Ufeolorun(m): 9:49pm On Oct 09, 2012
so far the revisionists have carefully constructed their argument/anger in a way which underplays the Northern angle while upping any Western link. I think it makes a lot of sense because the whole issue is bound to rage on,how many northerners are on-line or have time or resource to respond.
Mention Awolowo in your story and you r sure of the tribune, punch, vanguard, thenation picking your story up -if you go after Gowon or muritala, there are not enough people or platform to fight and defend them but Awolowo is a flipping lightening rod.
Remove Awo from it and this frenzy is bound to plunge.it's more driven by hate for the man rather than concern for the innocent souls caught up and the need to look into the allegation.
Politics / Re: Does Achebe Blame The British In His Book? by Ufeolorun(m): 11:52pm On Oct 08, 2012
The bottom line is after all these prancing around like spongebob squarepants: Awo remains a hate figure in the East as usual, get more streets and monument named after him in the West.He remains the biggest election winning name in the West and I don't see that changing.

Politics / Re: Is It Too Late For Nigeria? by Ufeolorun(m): 11:29pm On Oct 08, 2012
Vogue50: nice one. Tribalism is a factor but not strong enough to disintegrate us.We over hype it as if its a new thing. Jonathan is been president for 3years now,has anything changed in beyelsa?
do we ascribe tribalism to this.
Its pure greed ojare .
Politics / Re: Is It Too Late For Nigeria? by Ufeolorun(m): 9:14pm On Oct 08, 2012
Now Nigeria is in trouble just because people are venting on an ordinary book.
Tribalism isn't Nigerias problem and won't be the solution. Americas ascendancy was at its peak when it was most racist.
I think its utter laziness to keep going on about this tribalism issue as if its that strong enough to keep a country down.

Politics / Re: Auto Crash Claims Nine In Ogun by Ufeolorun(m): 4:42pm On Oct 07, 2012
Yes its getting too much if tankers aren't exploding, trucks will lose control and ram into anything. We need to get angry here, If you drive unlicensed ,unworthy machines you should be charged for 'an attempt at mass murder'.
The occupants of the truck are likely to be alive but look at unsuspecting road users
Politics / Re: Auto Crash Claims Nine In Ogun by Ufeolorun(m): 2:29pm On Oct 07, 2012
I don't want truck pushers to go on strike ojare
Seriously these deaths are unnecessary.
Politics / Re: Auto Crash Claims Nine In Ogun by Ufeolorun(m): 2:22pm On Oct 07, 2012
We need to have a stricter regulatory environment for those driving heavy duty machines in fact it should be criminal to drive any of those huge machines if you don't have a special license,we can't leave it to an individual who's supposedly catering to his own business need.

Someone needs to get seriously tough on lorry owners and/or drivers. Huge machines should not be left in the hands of miscreants, and irresponsible drivers.
Politics / Re: Awolowo Was Driven By An Overriding Ambition For Power-chinua Achebe by Ufeolorun(m): 9:20pm On Oct 03, 2012
Nope!it maybe a shared fault but the major part should go to him.the singular problem of the union is greed and nothing will change(not even the apology) if we don't work on it.
We can mark the death of millions of innocent people,it wont harm/cost anyone but 'we are right, they are wrong' approach wont work.
Politics / Re: Awolowo Was Driven By An Overriding Ambition For Power-chinua Achebe by Ufeolorun(m): 9:07pm On Oct 03, 2012
nku5: I tell you what with benefit of hindsight we know things could have been done a bit differently. That does not take away the reality of things that happened in the prosecution of the war. Whether we realise it or not, war has rules. If two men are fighting it doesn't give the other the right to look for the other ones chiildren to murder. Okay the war had ended, what about the post-war policies, banning of commodities that would have helped igbo people get back on their feet. As for revisionism you haven't pointed out ONE lie in the article of which only an excerpt was posted. Anybody with the full article should please post so we can read it in fullI am not justifying actions taken during the war PER SE but we need to realise war is war, there's no other way to define it.
i grew up hearing the name Achebe but i have been disappointed- Anytime achebe talks or writes about the ills of Nigeria it comes with perceivable sectional slant.THE REAL ISSUE HERE FOR ME IS NOT THE WAR BUT THE PROFESSOR HIMSELF. HE'S TOO EDUCATED TO BE THIS BITTER.HE SHOULD CHANNEL THE BITTERNESS AND HIS STAR POWER INTO SOMETHING MORE CONCRETE FOR EASTERN NIGERIA.
Politics / Re: Awolowo Was Driven By An Overriding Ambition For Power-chinua Achebe by Ufeolorun(m): 11:47am On Oct 03, 2012
I find it difficult at times to understand why people blatantly refuse to take responsibility for their own actions. Ojukwu(rip) declared war and should be held responsible for all that happened.
I hope am not blind, one striking thing here is;the professor didn't even mention Ojukwu's name, not even once in this article.Achebe need to let-go his constant penchant for sectional revisionism. Kilode!
Politics / Re: Akeredolu Will Transform Ondo, Says Fashola by Ufeolorun(m): 6:28pm On Oct 02, 2012
He has a right to campaign for his party,by the way, as more people continue to emphasise Ondo state finances and the resources available,Mimikos failure becomes glaring.
I can't vouch for Akeredolu o but Mimiko
Is a failure.
Akere should use Fashola more for his campaigns, nobody could make Mimko's incompetence more obvious
