China seems to be taking the entire world by surprise and there is no sign of slowing down anytime soon. I earlier reported that the world's fastest supercomuter now has its destination in China. Today's story looks incredibly amazing as well. Huawei has just launched the Ascend P6 and it is the slimmest smartphone in the world, sitting comfortably at 6.2mm. The Ascend P6 has its own chipset known as K3V2; it is a quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex A9 chipset with 2GB RAM. It comes with a superb 8.0MP camera and a front camera which gives shots at 5.0MP. Internal memory sits comfortably at 8GB and is further expandable via mircoSD card. Above all, it is powered by Android 4.2.2 and has dual sim support. View Image |

A Chinese supercomputer, Tianhe-2 which was released 2-years ahead of schedule has become the world’s fastest supercomputer. Tianhe-2 otherwise known as Milky Way-2 in English will be distributed to the National Supercomputer Center in uangzho, China in the 4th quarter of 2013. Tianhe-2 has a performance of 33.86 petaflops per second against the Linpack benchmark, which consists of solving a complex system of linear equations. In addition, Tianthe-2 has 16,000 nodes; each of these nodes uses two Intel Xeon Ivy Bridge processors and three Xeon Phi processors for a total of 3.12 million computing cores. "Most of the features of the system were developed in China, and they are only using Intel for the main compute part," Jack Dongarra, Top500 editor, revealed at the press release announcing the rankings. "That is, the interconnect, operating system, front-end processors and software are mainly Chinese. - See more at: http://www.thatnaijablog.com/2013/06/china-boasts-worlds-fastest-supercomputer.html#sthash.9Z29SKa1.dpuf |

Apple is always known for being associated with great quality, yet over-priced gadgets. The company's philosophy of never downgrading any of it's products has never be debated. Now that Steve Jobs is no more, it appears Apple might flex its muscles a little under the new CEO Tim Cook. Reuters reports that Apple is considering iPhones with 4.7-inch, 5.7-inch screens including a cheaper product which will be priced at $99. This idea of Apple actually releasing a lower end iPhone will certainly raise an eye brow or two. But if the company needs to grow it's market in China, India and Africa, cheaper gadgets has to be pushed to ensure it becomes a reality. Google and Apple seems to have got the future very much on their palms, while other mega tech companies like Yahoo play catch up. Yahoo's relevance hit a sudden decline a couple of years ago until the emergence of Marissa Mayer who looks set to turn the company's hard-times to good fortune. Now, in the last decade, Microsoft has been been dying a slow death and it is unlikely if only one Marissa Mayer can save a company whose future doesn't seem to align with the task ahead. In 2000, Microsoft powered 93% of consumer computing devices, fast-forward to 2013 and the figure has been reduced drastically to as low as 20%, seattletimes reports. This decline is shocking, and even more worrisome for an innovative company like Microsoft. Let us examine 6 of the numerous Microsoft dying products which may have had some kind of effects in shaping the company's steady decline. 6. Outlook Hotmail and Yahoomail were once the leading email service giant, but once Google launched it's email service; Gmail. The whole scenario changed. Microsoft has officially killed Hotmail and migrated all users to the Outlook email platform. From an ignored email service in 2004, Gmail has now positioned itself as world's largest email service. 5. Windows Phones The Windows Mobile OS has never gotten the kind of love Microsoft would have hoped for, considering the fact that Windows OS for PC dominated the market since it was first released to the public. Microsoft has struggled with this platform as many phone vendors do not seem to be interested in what ever it brings to the industry. Lately, Nokia decided to back Windows Mobile OS and made it their primary platform for development of their smartphones. Thanks to the death of Symbian and the failure of Intel to release a new Mobile OS on schedule. In 2013, Windows Mobile OS is still miles behind Apple's iOS and Google's Android with an approximate market share of 4%. 4. - http://www.thatnaijablog.com/2013/06/is-microsoft-dead.html |

So it's official, Symbian is dead! Financial Times reported on Wednesday that the last batch of Symbian phones built by Nokia has been shipped. The shipment marked the last batch of Symbian smartphones that would ever be produced and shipped. Image Credit: wakpaper “It took 22 months to get a Symbian phone out of the door,” a Nokia spokesperson told FT. “With Windows Phone, it is less than a year. We spend less time having to tinker with deep-lying code and more time on crafting elements of the experience that make a big difference, such as around photography, maps, music and apps in general.” Brief History of Symbian OS. |
Bawss1: Even if Xbox Live becomes available in Nigeria owners will not be able to enjoy the TV shows/services that owners in USA do. Microsoft is indirectly telling the whole world that they have given up entirely in gaming. Sony has literally destroyed Xbox and the brand.. Lovers of Microsoft gaming device in Africa and Asia will have to wait longer to get a taste of what Xbox One brings to the industry. In a new disclaimer for the hotly anticipated Xbox One console, only a hand-full of countries can use the Xbox One game at Launch, considering the fact that games have to be activated over the internet at least once a day. The disclaimer states: “Xbox One games are for activation and distribution only in specified geographic regions,” Not even a single African or Asian country is represented on the list, which means that even if you could get your hands on one of the imported Xbox One at launch in Q3 of 2013, you wouldn't be able to taste the action. Thanks to Microsoft's new policies for next-gen gaming. The list of countries that can immediately use Microsoft's Xbox One is given below. http://www.thatnaijablog.com/2013/06/xbox-one-wont-work-in-all-countries.html |

Microsoft and Sony have given gamers a thirst of what next-gen would bring. After a fantastic conference, and tons of exclusives announced for the two hotly anticipated gaming devices, it wouldn't be out of place to know how both consoles will operate once they hit the store-shelves in the 4th quarter of 2013. This year's E3 was a bombshell, the most exciting event for a very long time with loads of surprises and jaw-breaking announcements. Sony officially unveils the PlayStation 4 with a price tag of $399. This is a direct blow to Microsoft whose game console; the Xbox One retails at $499. The PlayStation 4 will not need any form on on-line connection to function and ofcourse, it has no DRM restriction. These are direct opposite to the philosophy of Xbox One and what the it stands for. http://www.thatnaijablog.com/2013/06/PS4-console-revealed-399-price-tag.html |
As reported earlier, the Xbox One will come packed with alot of features including Blu-ray, so we were not expecting a cheap price tag. Microsoft has now confirmed that Xbox One would be available in 21 countries this November and has been slammed with a price tag of $499(72000NGN). This revelation was on the eve of Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Sony is expected to reveal the PlayStation 4 console including a price tag in the same event. bigiyaro: Tecno is winning n will win the war, because their phones are able to satisfy majority of the Nigerian consumers. Majority will buy the 33k f7 which meets basic modern day mobile phone standard i. e chatting, sms, calls, browsing, both HD n 3d gamin emails etc. Why should i buy a 100k iphone or Samsung wen tecno can give me what i want n at the cheapest rate Exactly the point I was talking about.. No body is saying Tecno is better than Samsung and iPhone, but for the sweet price spot and having the same OS as others.. It is a steal for the Africa Market 1 Like |
Kamaye: don't mind them, not all iphones are produced in china there is the american and the chineese version, which is sold in most african markets including nigeria, but they do have the same quality as the american version. If one is produced in US and anoda in China, they can't obviously be of the same quality. They have drained the quality for the Africa market, yet they sell at the same price.. So much for the hypocrisy of Africans.. They give us washed-down products, we pay through our nose. American's get the highest quality and they have excellent deal from AT&T which reduced the price by $200. The telecom giants gets their money back from the exclusive usage of the iPhone in the US.. How has any Nigerian Telecom helped in reducing the price, rather they hike the price when they bundle a phone with ridiculous services and obsolete add-ons |

"We will make BBM available as the premiere multiplatform messaging solution all around the globe, and even better, it's free," CEO of Blackberry Thorsten Heins decalred at the conference held in Orlando, Florida. "This is such a great experience, it's just too good to keep it only to ourselves." Perhaps, Heins might have seen the reality but he has got a job to promote his company and give confidence to investors. BBM is too good to be only on Blackberry devices? That statement would have been entirely true if RIM made the decision to port BBM 3-years ago. This is 2013 and I am pretty sure all the enthusiasm that accompanied the service has declined significantly. BBM was a dominant factor that swayed smartphone users to BlackBerry's camp, the whole idea was fantastic, the platform entirely great, but BlackBerry only saw it as a way to sell more handsets. Indeed they have sold more handsets, but more and more people now think they are done with the OS, since making a better OS would be a larger task than achieving peace in the Middle East. Now that RIM realizes it has to take BBM to Android and iOS, what exciting features can they come up with to http://www.thatnaijablog.com/2013/06/bbm-available-on-ios-and-android.html |

Zeus has the capacity and ability to steal your internet banking password if it ever gains entrance to your computer. Zeus is also known as Zbot; it is a Trojan horse that stays dormant in your PC until the victim logs into a bank site. Immediately that happens, the Facebook Virus steals the victim's password and depletes the accounts. Image Credit: mashable Zbot is reported to have infected millions of PC in the US and invading other regions. The virus can replace a bank's web site with its own page to gather more information form its victim. Zeuns aka Zbot is a six-year-old virus that has risen again in 2013. It was first detected in 2007. The Facebook virus is gaining momentum in it's attack, Trend Micro can confirm. Dell SecureWorks reports that Zeus basic package starts at $3,000. The virus became an automatic first choice for cyber-criminals in 2006. The kit was bought and sold in black-markets. Facebook is aware of the problem but it isn't taking the matter nearly as seriously as it should be, says Eric Feinberg, founder of the advocacy group Fans Against Kounterfeit Enterprise (FAKE). Feinberg told The NYTimes, “[Facebook isn't] listening ... we need oversight on this.” Find out how to secure your PC and Facebook Account |
