Why not try exchanging it in Nigeria, before departing?

Thanks. Apparently I found out that this is a better option. Did it for a better cross rate than directly exchanging dollars to pounds in London.

Hi guys. Please can someone direct me to where in London I can exchange dollars for pounds? For a reasonable exchange rate. I'm not sure if I can do that at Heathrow airport when I arrive.

Your input will be well appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Congratulations, all of them are basically the same, though halifax is good because of future mortgage and all.

I will suggest HSBC because they have a current account for new start that gives you 1k overdraft and CC with 1500limit and I believe with your employers influence you should get this.

This will help you build your credit history easily and early.

Thanks a lot for the info.

Hi Guys, I would be moving to the UK on a tier 2 work visa by next week. I have been given bank options by my employer but not sure about which bank would be better for a salary account? The options are below

HSBC
Natwest
Lloyds Bank
Barclays
HBOS

Please can someone help with which would be best to bank with? especially when it comes to charges and interest on savings/invetsments.

Thank you

Congrats on your visa! I know nothing about Tier 2 visas. Almost switched from a tier 4 visa 6 years ago but skipped because I moved to the US.

Can you tell me a bit more please? Thanks

Oh I got a permanent role with the UK office of my current place of work hence I was required to apply for a work visa before resuming there. I guess one's employer has to be one of the licensed sponsors before the visa can be granted. I sha didn't do anything extra so I'm not sure how you can independently apply for jobs with recognised sponsors.

Good luck.

Finally got my passport today with Tier 2 work visa issued.

Timeline:
2 August 2018 - Biometrics (paid for priority)
2 August 2018 - Passport transferred to UKVI
3 August 2018 - Got mail from UKVI confirming receipt and consideration by ECO
15 August 2018 - Passport collected

The above shows a 2week timeline (9 working days) instead of the 5 working days they said. In between the dates I've had to call UKVI twice and even visited TLS twice before finally getting it today. I'm not sure what's causing the current delay in returning visa as I met people with same delay issue. wahala dey o.

Off to book my flight. Goodluck everyone.

To call them again or what?

I guess it's to wait till Monday. Hopefully the courier guys would have brought them back.

Same here ooo, I applied last week wednesday and paid for priority as well, got received at sheffield email on friday....still waiting till now.
I'm also hoping it gets finalized this friday....
I can't stop checking email every now and then

Called the UK guys and they said a decision has been made, but then it's still not reflecting on my TLS page so I'm not sure whether the passport has been sent to Nigeria or not. May just visit there tomorrow since its close to my office sha.

Ok now I'm scared o. You applied since July 16th and paid for priority? I'd like to think it should be out by now. You should give them a call. I also applied and paid for priority but mine was Thursday last week and got a confirmation from UKVI on Friday. I'm hoping it'll be finalised this week.

Visa Type - Tier 2 (Work visa - 2 years)
Visa application center - TLS Ikeja

First Visa Timeline (Priority):
16th April: Submitted online
19th April: Went for biometrics (prime-time)
19th April: Application received in Sheffield Email
20th April: Application with ECO for a decision
28th April: Decision made
30th April: Passport ready for pickup (Refusal)

Reason for refusal : English language proof not accepted. I had put my degree certificate and transcripts but it was rejected. I needed to obtain UK NARIC statement of comparability and English language assessment for that degree certificate and a document from my university stating that my degree was taught in English. My degree was obtained in one of the federal universities here in Nigeria.

Second Visa Timeline (Super priority -24 hours) :

Obtained all the necessary documents to meet English language requirements as stated above.

13th May: Submitted Application Online
14th May: Went for bio-metrics (walk-in appointment)
15th May: Passport ready for pick up mail from TLS (I got the visa)

I noticed nobody has posted about super priority here before so I decided to share my experience. You could say it did take 24 hours even though I had been refused before.

Good luck to you all.

Hi. Please how much did the super priority cost you? and did you apply from outside the UK?

Thank you.

All these 21st century immature men.

On no account should you ask your wife to pack out of the house. If the marriage is over, find a way to dissolve it then everyone goes their separate ways

paulynpen:

I will love to know the section of the constitution you are quoting from. He can only decide on his money not on his wife's I keep cautioning my fellow men on egoist tendencies. Its very dangerous, whoever built the house provided its our own. What if the woman used her share the way the man used his? The man is a terrible man who is bent on manipulation and oppression, if he has no ulterior motives I don't see anything wrong with joint ownership and living together in peace. No he want it in his name so that he go out and shout at the top of his voice to everyone who care to listen about how he laboured for the house. I know he will never tell the world about his wife's. I got to know lately that many houses standing are actually the brain child of women but they were swindled off the ownership. My sister I am a man, never ever reneges your ownership. Put it in the name of your children at worse

Exactly. My parents currently have a house together nd my mum's money makes up for at least 90% of that structure. It's in both of them's name though. Anyway I sha know my dad can't try rubbish.

Health / Re: How Much Does Root Canal Procedure Cost In Nigeria? by zibe(m): 11:03pm On May 30, 2018
I did mine for free since I'm covered under insurance.

However when I inquired frkm the dentist he said it cost about 60k. His is without the crowning which I think is an additional 50k to it, although that's optional. I did mine without the crown (cos that wasn't covered under insurance and since it was optional I decided against it. Too expensive)

Two years plus now. Still feels perfectly normal.

So what would you term as "special" then? undecided you women and talking low of one another sha.

He finds her special. 'Nuff said!

Yes he did, sometimes read about countries before you say what you don’t know. Do you know how many Australians are living in Malaysia? I live in Malay and I have seen lots of Australians, life is boring over there, Malaysia is super dope. Malaysia is much more bigger and more beautiful than you think. They have the best malls in the world and rated one of the highest tourist countries. So next time, try to read before you open your ignorance to the world.

Lol. Yet Malaysians and nationals of other countries are queuing up for Australian PR. A simple google would have done you better knowledge of this discourse. There is even a wikipedia page for Malaysian Australians, depicting people that have migrated from Malaysia to Australia.

Stop seeing thing from just yout point of view.

You can apply with ur Bsc .

For Bsc Econs , I know u will b expemted from F1. You only have to take F2 and F3 .

What I'm not sure about is you being eligible for the Diploma after being exempted from any of the three courses . You need to do a lil research on that .

Thank you.

There's this diploma in IFRS (DipIFRS) course that ACCA also offers. I'm thinking of doing that too. Not sure yet if it can be assessed as an additional certificate. Mheen the struggle to get two certificates shaa.

People that need Two or more certificate may consider writing ACCA if they CAN .

The estimated cost is BTW 95k-115k

Reg - 8k

Paper F1, F2 and F3 - 30,500 each

Diploma certificate is free .

You can get Diploma in one month (it depends on ur previous knowledge tho or how serious you are . The exam is CBT and you get to see ur results before leaving
the exam hall .

Please can you expatiate on this? I have ICAN for example so I'm not sure if this would also apply to me. Can I just pay for the exemptions and obtain a diploma certificate? (hoping this would be possible).

Thanks.

Ok. After prayers and visitation, what next? undecided

That doesn't solve the issue of safety for those indigenes.

These sort of stuff thrive only cos we're unable to hold the government responsible for issues like this. Hence everyone is doing visitation and prayers.

I pay for my own safety as well as all sort of bill, yet government will wake up one day and say we should pay exorbitant fees to them as land use charge and other sorts.

@bold, then tell her to get a job and be independent! rather than putting unnecessary pressure on her. So he'd rather want her to fall into the hands of men that would only want to use her and dump her, cos obviously she would get desperate from all these marriage talks
