Solution To Nigeria Problem by PGON(m): 6:11pm On Jul 28, 2012
BACKGROUND: Nigeria is made up of 36 states and 1 FCT; Nigeria is a federal republic with 36 independent states and central capital. Nigeria is big and blessed, every other country on the surface of the earth envy this country, Nigeria.
Citizens: Nigerians are well equipped, well talented, they stand tall where ever the find themselves. They turn extreme cold weather to warm weather. They thrive in all condition.

1. The idea of zones should be abolished
; There should be nothing like South-South, South-East , North Central or North-North. Nothing like Eastern Governors Forum, Southern Governor forum or Western Governors forum etc
Reason: These groups tend to draw a lot of focus on the ethnic diversity of Nigeria. Political interests are zoned; governors within these states focus more on the interest of the zone and not the interest of the country or their state. Nigeria has many nations in one country but creating groups that will put the interest of a particular nation above the interest of the whole country will not help the country move forward.
All regional heads should be abolished.
(Disagree; Say it out)

2. Religion: if 1. Above is observed then religious issues will become a thing of the past. Reasons: Islam is seen as religion of northerners, Christianity, religion of Easterners, but if Nigeria is seen as a country of 36 states, Islam or Christianity will only be seen as one of the religions in the country. It will not belong to a particular people. In every state of the federation, Muslims and Christians will live together peacefully.

3. Orientation: The three main languages in Nigeria, Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo should be taught in all Nigerian primary and secondary schools. Language is not just a means of communicating thoughts and ideas, but friendships, cultural ties and economic relationship. Good communication and knowledge of cultures and norms of the various groups will help establish a good relationship with other country men from different ethnic background. The question will be how do will unite our customs and focus on one goal instead of current search for disintegration.

4. Corruption: Nigeria is not corrupt; there are corrupt people in Nigeria. We can only fight these people when we begin to see this country as our own. We have corrupt leaders; no we have very corrupt leaders. Now corruption is like an unavoidable spoilt road. Every office, every home, work places etc. The youths are lured into it, if you can’t beat them……..

5. NYSC: NYSC is not just grease for national integration; it is also a good strategy for developing young graduates. We need to restructure NYSC so that its focus will not be just national integration because Nigeria is not disintegrated. Reason: when NYSC is restructured to focus on developing young graduates and equipping them with entrepreneur skills they will be glad to serve their fatherland.

6. The Government: Worldwide democracy is the best system of government so far, because it puts more power, more freedom on the governed. Democracy cannot be pure when it has military background. Military dictatorship is direct opposite of democracy. There is no way it can lay a good foundation for democracy. This is case we have in Nigeria, democratic dictators at the head of affairs in the country. We need pure civilized civilians without military association heading the affairs reasons: above.

7. Government arms:
All government arms and establishment should be constitutionally framed. Reason: This will prevent boundary-less activities of government staff and government officials. “Do you know who I am?” government officials. If the judiciary is well organized and cannot be influenced by the executive, no execute will parade him/her self with” Do you know who I am?” phrase.

8. Journalism, the press: Giving total freedom to the press will help transform this country. Do you know that every little thing go to the press in Ghana. Anybody can say anything about the president’s mistakes without fear or favour. Funny, you can’t see policemen drinking openly, or collecting bribe from motorist, street people will just make video and pictures available to the press immediately and they will be seen on national TV. Nigerians have smart people that can do more than taking pictures and videos. We need the press to be empowered, the people to be empowered. If the press is empowered, the fear for public disgrace can motivate political office holders to do the right thing at the right time.
