A Nigerian man identified as Anthony Esikalam Ndidi and an Australian female nurse, Emma Louise L’Aiguille are currently facing death by hanging in Malaysia.

They were both charged with methamphetamine trafficking, an offence which carries death sentence.

The 2 were arrested in Kuala Lumpur 14 days ago after they were caught with 1kg of methamphetamine.

Drug trafficking offence is unpardonable in Malaysia as it carries mandatory death sentence by hanging.

Their next court date has been scheduled for Oct 1st, 2012

Since 1960, more than 440 people have been executed in Malaysia, including two Australians put to death in 1986 for heroin trafficking that made headlines as they were the first Westerners to be executed under tough new anti-drug laws.

Wow soo sad. On my last trip to that country, i noticed they make sure everyone is familiar with their law. It was CLEARLY EMBOSSED ON MY VISA- THE PENALTY FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING IS DEAD. I remember the lady checking me in from Schipol airport jokingly commented after reading the embossed"what in the hell are you going there for" and we both laugh it off. some people get mind sha.

Love for extreeme materialism and to come back come "opress men".

The Australian will likely go scot-free. But the Nigerian, just pray to your God.

This is very sad... but unfortunately, he won't be the last. Some dudes like sticking their fingers inside fire hoping they won't get burnt. Quite a number of interceptions are made at Murtala Mohammed airport, all destined to places like Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand even China. Honestly, i don't feel sad for him but some sort of rage.

Anti drug campaign should be taken serious at grassroot level: from primary schools and secondary schools, children should be properly informed about the consequence of drug racketing.

cryIts common sense, it has been clearly stated on the Malaysia Visa that drug trafficking carries a Death Penalty, why then would a reasonable person indulge? Had it been he got away with it, you woulda seen him popping countless bottles of moet in malaysian clubs! Nt happy about this but truth has to be told. RIP bro

Poor Nigerian, one again out of thousands Nigerians dying daily all over the globe.it's a pity to realise how our deplorable economic situations hv force our teeming youths to all kind of social vice even when they clearly see d writing on the wall 'Caught nd get hanged' yet the undying Nigerian spirit of 'Emeka has done it before' wud lure him.Only God knws d benefit he wud hv been to our nation only if given d ryt opportunity.make God grant him mercy nd forgive all his sins as he heads 4 d gallows!,nd bet u his family r stil jolificating somewhere nt aware of his predicament boosting 'My Son is in obodoyibò!'.

Why not US or UK? apparently you don't have any qualms with "drug trafficking" rather you're worried about the "destination". You need your head examined!

He is hiding his face in shame. He knew quite well what he did. Let the law take its cause.

And for other "Get Rich or die trying" types, take heed.

Na only bad quotes our people know how to act on.

It is laws like this that a nation as ours needs to cleanse it of the evil of corruption that has eaten so deep n affecting good governance and development. Not when the Facrooks n d likes have d guts to be trying to justify their heineous crimes.just hope this will b another lesson to Nigerians who think becos of d system here, they can also thrive in their illegal businesses elsewhere.God bless Nigeria

Anϑ †ђat is part of the reasons why Malysia, China, Taiwan & co. have become regional powers anϑ global players in the world today.

No room fσr external pollution esp from this "naija boys" who dnt wanna work hard ϯo make their money.

i will αve ϯo say, this is more with the ibo boys in this country, from importing fake drugs from India anϑ Pakistan ϯo Substandard/Inferior goods (esp. Auto-spare parts) from China ϯo Electronics etc.

They specifically ask these foreign 'shady' pharmaceutical co.'s n autopart firms ϯo make these inferior quality goods specifically fσr them at the cheapest prices, just ϯo import them into Nigeria ϯo sell them in disguise as the real thing just fσr a quick buck undecided

Anϑ this is ϯo the detriment of our Nation anϑ our people.

Any human being †ђat can deal in Hard Drugs n fake pharmaceutical drugs especially needs ϯo die a famous death.

Anϑ so, i support this policy a 100% by the Malaysians.

Both. Nigeria is not doomed and the Australian will not go scout free. You have to understand that some laws cannot be arbitrarily overruled because of diplomatic intervention. She may get life but will not go scout free..
