Thank God for nairalanders that helped me unlock my MTN modem. Now I'm enjoying fast browsing with my Airtel. If they wish they can stop internet service altogether for all I care.

Multilinks is Cdma technology so can only be substituted with d likes of starcomms, visafone etc. But for gsm networks when you unluck modem you can simply slot another sim card into it and browse. Google is your friend sha.

Never thought twice about having Glo on my smartphone, Airtel on my modem and Etisalat for those large downloads and long calls. As for MTN, dat one na accessory.

Is your modem the type that doesn't use a SIM CARD (CDMA)? If it is, there's nothing like UNLOCKING. If not, go through this thread from the first page you'll find that the solution has been proferred by a couple of people.

did you create a new profile for the new network whose sim you inserted? Go through the previous pages of this thread for settings of Etisalat & airtel

Subscribe ur monthly plan with etisalat for N1000 and get 275Mb,u can't beat it in Nigeria.MTN is not a netwk again.

looks like etisalat is the place to be as far as reliable internet connection is concerned.

@ all. Remember David Mark and what he said about Nigerians [s]abusing[\s] bashing their corrupt leaders and politicians on social networking sites and his proposal to reduce internet access to Nigerians? Well, the MTN upward tariff review is the result. MTN had conspired with david mark to help him achieve that by upping the tariff - at least the latter had looked the other way while the former defrauds Nigerians with fake promos, poor value added services, etc.

Unfortunately for MTN, they'll end up being the loser as they'll realise soon. People are migrating to other sane service providers and those still "addicted" to their products are already ha€king their(MTN} modems for use with other reasonable service providers. *Excited* Just as we all have access to phones these days (boooo David Mark), Common Nigerians will have the last last.
