Seun: Yes, please,

It's wrong to ask about the price of garri on a thread that has nothing to do with garri. Doing so will earn you a ban.

Thanks for your kind cooperation.

So how does the price of garri affect pump price of petrol. Last time I checked (2day), it's still #97. Smh

Seun,

I think you are going about this the wrong way. As the resident Eze Mmuo of Nairaland, I really do not see how enquiring about the relationship between a thread (which more often than none are absolutely useless threads that even hit the frontpage) and the price of Garri can be misconstrued to be 'wrong'..

'How does this affect the price of Garri" is simply a figure of speech particularly an Idiomatic expression that simply means "How does this affect anything'. I really think that you should reconsider your stand on this subject matter and treat it as just another one of those things. Otherwise, anyone who posts any message that is remotely divergent from the topic of a thread should be banned.

I would say thanks for your cooperation, but seeing as you have not once cooperated on any of my requests in the past from 'Creating a Photography thread, to making an Igbo man a super Mod to even stopping the ethinically charge Tribalism against the Igbo Nairaland community', I would end this message with;

Thanks and Hope you surprise me for once in over 5 years on nairaland.

We dont need people to keep asking how does a thread affect anything and keep doing it on almost every thread. If a thread does not "affect anything" or important or relevant to you, simply ignore it and let those who find it important post on it. It is that simple.

I also noticed there are groups trading semantics for this site.
Their job is basically to keep prolonging a thread unecessarily. Talk about being desparate to increase ads revenue. How about that?

What now happens to all the bigoted, evil, racist statements on Nairaland?

All the abuse spilling over 5 pages?

And all the stupid posts about celebritiies and their mothers?

Are you gonna hide them too?

Stop trying to impose your personal opinions on a public forum...even if it is yours!

You may ban me now.

Tyranny. . . . people should be able to say what they feel about a thread. If I don't feel a thread is affecting the price of garri, why shouldn't I be able to say so?

If you think it's trolling, don't respond to those who don't think it affects the price of garri.

What else will you prohibit? If I say 'Na wa oh' on every thread, will that also be an offence?

If you expect people to ignore threads that they don't think affect the price of garri, I think it's only fair for people to also ignore those who ask about the price of garri.

Okija Juju has said it succinctly:

. . .treat it as just another one of those things. Otherwise, anyone who posts any message that is remotely divergent from the topic of a thread should be banned.

I was about to say same.In as much as I detest the use of such cliche when serious matters are being discussed,I think it would be wrong to unilaterally ban people from using such word, its a known cliche in Nigeria which construes indifference, though of late we have seen the Garri association of nairaland derailing topics with their rather boring garri related comments.

Seun, lets put it to a vote,in that way you can give majority their say,and minority their way.

@ Okija juju,I also agree with your post.

You know, Its funny how someone writing 'How does this affect the price of garri' or 'copying and posting the list of people viewing a thread' is an offence on Nairaland, Yet when a Moderator constantly puts IGBO-Hate threads on the frontpage and the moderators stand by and watch as Yoruba tribalists degrade and insult and entire ethinicity with reckless abandon with no consequence, SEUN turns a blind eye.. Yet when someone asks how a stupid thread like the one about 'WHAT MAKES YOU WANT TO COMMENT ON A THREAD' https://www.nairaland.com/1030238/what-makes-want-comment-topic remotely affects the price of Garri, he gets banned?!

I wonder where Seun and the rest of his poosie of Moderators priority lie. So the Price of Garri is now worth more than an entire ethinic groups integrity on Nairaland..

INTERESTING!

I'm with Seun on this, the OP is a pest specialising on derailing thread with the same stupeed question; 'how does that affect the price of gaari?'
It's not by force to reply to a thread so if he has nothing intelligent or something related to the post he should pls shut up!

When this garri thingy started, it was funny, but as soon as it turned a national anthem, it started forming nuisance... The garri thingy has beclouded the reasoning of our once upon a time reasonable and matured nairalanders. Now nobody wants to think, they just want to mention the garri thingy whenever a thread is opened! Imagine someone replying how "how does is affect the price of garri" even when a thread about people losing their life is opened, imagine someone's father, or someone old enough to be a father asking for the price, of garri when serious issues are been discussed. Indeed, u guys need to get a life! ! Nairaland used to be a site where people of sound reasoning converge, but now it has been infiltrated, infiltrated by children, or matured individuals, wiv the mind of children! @ poster, go and get yourself something handy to do, like selling garri, then and only then would u get first hand information when the price of garri is affected! angry
