When I read The Guardian of Nigeria making bogus claims of having over 19 million hits monthly, I want to laugh. Because, if The Guardian of Nigeria is recording 19 million hits monthly, then Nairaland should be having 100 million hits monthly. Why? From my online investigations, I have discovered that Nairaland has more regular visitors than The Guardian of Nigeria. And this is a fact.

The Sun is more popular than NigeriaWorld and Nairaland is more popular than The Guardian.

If you doubt me, sample popularity ratings online.

www.naijabrains.com is a webportal to watch out for.

I have seen the imitation of Nairaland.

The more the merrier.

God bless Nigeria.
Re: The Most Popular Nigerian Community Websites by IAH(f): 7:01pm On Apr 20, 2006
Yes, I was surprised to discover that too. Nairaland has more traffic than The Guardian, The Punch and Tribune Newspapers. Haha! It still has Thisday, The Sun and Nigeriaworld to beat though. cool

Nigeria will soon be making more money from IT than oil and gas.

There is going to be an IT Revolution in Nigeria between now and 2010.
Nigeria is going to be proud to boast of someone that will challenge Bill Gates.
The man will soon be known.
Only few people know him now.

The sooner more Nigerians launch more websites the better.

Orikinla, that is a terrific I.T. prophecy, am so excited by your positivity. I am so confidently hopeful that the forces of good would overwhelm the evil, Yahoo-Yahoo boys and girls would soon be disgraced by the genuine forces of creativity and industry on the net in Nigeria.

love you

We have Nigerians who are among the best brains in IT and one of them is about to launch an operating system. He is a God sent genius to Nigeria.
He is a wealthy IT Specialist from a wealthy family.

He was head of the IT department of Citi Group in Nigeria before he left to concentrate on his project. And he is about to make it public.
Re: The Most Popular Nigerian Community Websites by aderaskeey(m): 7:09am On Apr 23, 2006
@Orikinla,

Please keep us updated on this is great news. So somebody is about to make us stand proud with chest out in the comity of nations!!!
Re: The Most Popular Nigerian Community Websites by Orikinla(m): 3:21pm On Apr 23, 2006
That is it.

I can only give out his contact details in private. But for security reasons, not online.

He told me that he will not welcome any press or public inquiries until he launches it soon. He is Yoruba. And lives in his own house in Ikoyi. And we can talk and meet anytime.

Back to the discussion on the Most Popular Nigerian Community Websites.
The forums of This Day and the Sun are not as popular as Nairaland.
Others have very boring forums.

Some Nigerian forums look like ghost town. Deserted.

I wonder what is the midas touch of the brains behind Nairaland?

Let's wait and see.

The best is yet to come.

Re: The Most Popular Nigerian Community Websites by Orikinla(m): 10:46am On May 11, 2006
The most resourceful Nigerian site is http://conscienceofdemocracy..com.
Conscience of Democracy offers global opportunities in grants, fellowships and scholarships for students and leaders.
It was created by a member of the Institute of Humane Studies(IHS) to promote democracy and governance.

Most newspaper sites are also larger than Nairaland. Considering the quality of their content, I don't think it's possible to beat them unless one attracts a large following by people who have no interest in Nigeria.
Re: The Most Popular Nigerian Community Websites by LoverBwoy(m): 4:12pm On May 11, 2006
what/Where is offa and Esie

Nice joke though

He is a wealthy IT Specialist from a wealthy family

still dont understand why that was included
He's a genius -agreed but , family blah blah undecided

Naira land is the best

guess why

It is easily accesible

I never used to like any forums

But when I finally came on NL

I liked it cos you can access it easily

All others have too much stuffs , too much designs or whateva to put you off

But NL is different

abeg,

let dem know

Nairaland is the most popular

cool
Re: The Most Popular Nigerian Community Websites by Orikinla(m): 7:25pm On May 11, 2006
How many people are reading Nigerian newspapers online?
Why not monitor and evaluate their forums.
How popular are their forums?
How many of their readers are discussing issues on their sites?

How many pages of The Guardian are seen online?

Count the number of pages on Nairaland and compare them with the numbers of pages of the websites of the Nigerian newspapers and count the number of hits on their pages.

Most of their pages are often never visited in a day.
Most visitors simply look at their homepages and move on to more engaging sites.

What I have made online in eleven months is more than what one particular Nigerian newspaper has made online in one year.

I am looking forward to a Nigerian site making over $1 million online every year.

An American blogger is making over $10,000 monthly. And a whole Nigerian newspaper site cannot boast of making $5,000 monthly? grin

Nairaland is a goldmine!

Will Seun sell it? grin
Re: The Most Popular Nigerian Community Websites by bolex(m): 11:54pm On May 11, 2006
The best advice I can give Seun is never to give out Nairaland

This is one of the best achievements a man can have

for real

This alone deserves a Life Time Achievement Award

It beats all other Nigerian sites hands down

He is the only 1 I believe can control this site the way it's been done so far

1 love bro
Re: The Most Popular Nigerian Community Websites by aderaskeey(m): 1:00am On May 12, 2006
Seun is a young lad who has by the grace of God performed a 13-month miracle with his nairaland.com site. he has not arrived at this position today by an accident of history. The secrets of men are in their stories. You go and read his story on www.seunosewa.com/technology.times and you will understand that he has had his fair share of trial and errors. I doff my hat for his achievements, but there are many more trophies in the web-traffic industry for us as Nigerians to conquer. We are still far from the peak. I implore all of us to cooperate as a team for the attainment of this collective honour which seun and others are marching to attain. Join us too on Nigerian Affairs http://groups.google.com/group/nigerianaffairs on google towards contributing your quota to this goal.

Another forum to look out for is the Lagos to Jozi forum, although new. The www.lagostojozi.com/community forum is the digital platform for the Nigerian community in South Africa. It is user friendly and strives to be resource-rich for Nigerians living in South Africa and Nigerians planning to travel to South Africa.
