BBC IGBO, organized electoral debate for gubernatorial contenders, unfortunately only Uche showed up.

Nonetheless, the venue Ridge center looks splendid.

Bumped on these works from rytegate,
Though not sure if the project is in owerri,

It is known as the phrenic estates.

Seems the erstwhile Douglas city centre mall have been converted to Imo specialist hospital.

Credit rytegate.

Well done, nwanne
U see, this change of plan depicts the stupidity of Rochas
A man who builds without a crystal-clear strategy
Suddenly, this mall has been converted to a hospital
That man is very annoying

Most of those decisions are made through consultation with the people not by Okorocha alone. Even the change of plans involve the demand of the people themselves but propaganda is a business in Imo and the less intelligent ones can be deceived by it.

Yeah transparency is needed,

Are you aware of the completion of Diaspora village.

Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Nobody: 10:21am On Jan 19, 2019
Seems owerri got quite a handful of uncompleted structures like Dee abagworo stated earlier,

While the government launched 100 cars to support the police, couple of weeks ago, There is equally this sort of twin multi - storey building in the background, that have remained uncompleted for over a decade.

Look closely at the first pic.

The drainages are covered afterwards. Be observant and you will notice. Only Okorocha is building covered drainages while others cut out part of the road as walkways leaving the drainages open. Also notice that trees have already been planted though dry as a result of harmattan.

Mr. Abagworo, the problem I'm having with the infrastructural development in our cities and towns are the habit of not paying attention to details. Just look at the picture you uploaded to support he is constructing covered drainages, some potions are covered and some are open this is a street, not a highway the manholes are all open to me whatever that is worth doing is worth doing well.

There is a silent revolution going on in Owerri, and this is from someone who has lived in different parts of Nigeria. The only place that is more liveable than Owerri in Nigeria today is Abuja. By the time other cities wake up, Owerri will be running neck and neck with Abuja. Owerri will soon leave Enugu and Calabar behind.

While Owerri now approaches Abuja standard, the other local government areas of Imo state recede to 18th century standard. Even the once developing urban centres of Imo state - Orlu, Okigwe are rotten. Only a clown or a most malicious leader would develop a state in this manner.

Yes you're right but it's being done and cannot be completed overnight. The manholes will be the last thing to be covered after the entire drainages are fully covered with sidewalks. The difference between Okorocha and others is that he is not doing to impress but to effect permanent and futuristic change. If he is like others he would have just built one road and easily finish the drainages, coverings and beautification for propaganda but he is rather building all the roads at the same time and equally completing them gradually before he leaves May. Combined length of these roads if reduced to 2 lanes is up to 1000 km and most of them were started between May 2017 and May 2018 with demolition, clearing and excavation before, drainage, filling, leveling, treatment and asphalting followed by the ornamental aspect he's facing now.

WHO ACCOUNTS FOR THE 8 YEARS FEDERAL ALLOCATIONS MEANT FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THE OTHER 24 OUT OF THE 27 LGAS OF IMO STATE OUTSIDE OWERRI?

Federal govt doles out monthly allocations to the 27 local government areas in Imo state for their development.
A governor who hardly knows what governance is all about collects the money, uses a fraction of the money and builds what fancies him in the state capital WITHOUT APPROVAL OF THE STATE LEGISLATURE;

once in a while, the governor builds a thing outside the state capital for diversionary purposes.
Governor and his praise singers think that Imo people, except them, are stupid.

APC has shown Okorocha and his son-in-law RED CARD. Imo people have shown Okorocha and his son-in-law RED CARD.

That's exactly why I am rooting for Uche Nwosu to succeed Okorocha after my earlier objections. None of the others jostling for that governorship position will be ready to sacrifice like Okorocha for the future of the State except Nwosu. They will go back to the typical Nigerian system of impressionism and abandon the obvious direction Imo as a State is heading.

You cannot deceive everybody. Remember the Okigwe Stadium and hospital were posted earlier. There's no local government area in Imo State without roads tarred by Imsg, schools built by Imsg, ICT center built by Imsg and hospital structure built by Imsg.

Okigwe deserves many times more development projects than Stadium and Hospital in 8 years. Three months of Okigwe's federal allocation is enough to build the Okigwe stadium and hospital.
Okorocha's projects focused on Owerri, and his last days focus on Okigwe, can't account for 1/4 of the federal allocations to the 27 local government areas of Imo state in 8 years.
What significant development did Okorocha do in the other rural local govt areas not in cities of Okigwe and Owerri?

Let's say Okigwe got only Stadium and Hospital from Okorocha, what then did all the Governors from 1914 till 2011 do in Okigwe? The only major dual carriage road with streetlights was built by Okorocha and a new dual carriageway passing through the Stadium is also under construction by Okorocha as well as numerous small streets like Ihube road also built by Okorocha. What Okorocha did in Okigwe is more than what existed from 1914 to 2011 and it is same with basically every part of Imo State with exception of Oguta which was built by communal effort from time.

I agree with you, that it cannot be completed overnight but it can be done in a reasonable time frame and with standard quality and specifications, you will agree with me also that the contracts when they were awarded, included the sidewalks because I believe if it was not they will not construct it. I hate making excuses for mediocrity and I want you to call a spade a spade I don't see the reason why finishing touches needed to complete all these projects before handing it over should be done later. Why would a contractor handover projects without doing the needful? I give you an example, how many years now did the road in the picture below was constructed and handed over to the government? This manholes are dead traps why will it be so why build it at all if it cannot be done well?

propaganda on this thread is too much, let us call a spade, a spade. a lot of things are going bad in imo state. there's no roads, no jobs, no quality education, no industry etc, in imo state. rochas has failed to develop imo state. all he does is to play to the gallery. he started flyover and abandoned it, he started hospitals abandoned it. he built his own university with imo money but left imsu and imsuth to become a mess. Ihedioha will convert rochas university to state university when elected. confirm all these roads

Rubish. all i see is hotels. while Anambra is building factories Imo state capital is turned into a whoring den. Is Owerri the only place in Imo? how about orlu and Okikwe, the situation in Orluvis.not only pathetic but shameful. Rochas must have done well for owerri, but he faiked woefully by abandoning other parts of Imo. Orlu Zone will definately go for their own thats a fact, cos they have been short changed by Rochas. I cant say i blame them.
The way some of you talk sometimes is quite disgusting. Will you tell a private investor how to invest their money? If the investors choose to build hotels because it's more lucrative or convenient for them, will you stop them?? Come to think of it, how many industries have you built yourself in Imo state?? An industrialist will prefer to build a factory in Aba or Onitsha because of economies of scale. No good businessman will invest based on sentiment because they all want to maximize profits. Areas such as oil and gas, refinery, petrochemical plant, drugs, ICT etc are where investors can still in Owerri and get good ROI. However, instead of blaming those who are building hotels in Owerri, you should rather channel your anger towards those who choose to build outside Imo state. Someone like captain Iheanacho went to build his refinery in Lagos yet he wanted to rule Imo state. This is where Rochas is better than all of them, he invested heavily in Owerri and Imo state and it is only someone who loves his state will do that. You may say it is looted money but others all looted as well yet they either took their investment to Abuja and Lagos, took them abroad or simply stored them in hard currency. When you loot and take your investment outside the state (which his predecessors all did), Imo looses twice, but when you invest it back in Imo state, the state only loose once and gain back through IGR, bigger economy, employment provision and other multiplier effects.
Finally, how many industries are there in Abuja? Are they up to a quarter of industries in places like Aba and Onitsha but are the IGR of Aba and Onitsha in anyway comparable to that of Abuja?? My point is that it is not only mortar and brick factories that can make a city prosperous. Does Imo need factories? YES! Are the hotels being built good for the economy of the city? YES!!

I am resident in Owerri and saying that Rochas hasn't achieved anything is not true. The quality of his projects are substandard no doubt but widening of the city roads, street lighting, bringing back sanity on the roads by replacing bikes and Keke napep with taxis and buses, removing the markets from city centre to the outskirts etc are some of the good things he will be remembered for. Besides, Rochas is not contesting again and neither is he supporting the APC flag bearer, so why are you drawing parallels with Rochas while trying to promote PDP?
Mind you, I support Ihedioha and will definitely vote for him on election day while also campaigning for him because I believe he is better than the other men he is contesting against. Uzodinma and Ararume have got nothing to offer Imo state while Uche Nwosu is still a rookie, a real otondo who should learn how to crawl before trying to walk. However, my point is that these pictures you are posting here or saying Rochas didn't do a single thing in Imo state is not necessary at all.

My points exactly, some of our people lack tact and diplomacy. What is the motive in posting these pictures on a thread that is being used to promote Imo state?? This is the internet age and many would be investors globally may visit this thread to get information about Owerri only for them to start seeing these negative pictures?? Virtually every city in Nigeria has such roads and that's the hallmark of third world countries and as we develop, we will overcome them. Truth be told, even Ihedioha cannot be able to pave all the roads in Owerri within 8 years, and that's the fact!! I love Owerri and Imo state, and that's why I want the best for the state. I say things the way I see them without being partisan.

Please remove these ugly pictures you posted here and desist from posting more because they are not necessary! It is an open secret that Rochas projects are substandard but this thread is for the promotion of Owerri and Imo state, and investors may decide to go through it before making up their mind to invest in the city/state. You don't know the extent of damage you're doing to the same state you want your party to rule because a simple Google search on Imo state will simply lead one to this thread. I repeat that Rochas is not contesting again and neither is he supporting the APC gubernatorial candidate, so stop cutting your nose to spite your face!!
