London is not too developed more than Manchester, Sheffield, or Birmingham.

Washington DC is not better developed than New York City, Chicago or Las Vegas.

States? Tallahassee is the small capital city of Florida state, nowhere compared in development to mega city of Miami in Florida state.
Europeans and Americans don’t have block heads like you clowning here with belief that because a place (Owerri) was named capital city, therefore governments must use nearly all the funds of the state to develop the state capital (Owerri)to the exclusion of other urban towns ( Orlu and Okigwe) and rest of the state.

New Owerri is gradually beginning to look like Abuja. I like how developers are now building hige rises, it will greatly boost the skyline of the city. Real estate is booming in Owerri but the biggest setback is poor governance. Each new governor will be busy looking for what to destroy instead of what to build.

As for those primitive village men spamming this thread with nonsense narrative about why they should remove higher institutions from Owerri and bring it to Orlu, then you should also be rational enough to know that Orlu is not the only town in Imo State. We Okigwe, Mbaise, Nkwerre, Oguta etc. So, when you are busy making noise, remember that even if the higher institutions are removed from Owerri, there is no mandate that it must be taken to Orlu.

If you can't take pride in Owerri as your capital city because you're so clannish and primitive minded, then you can build private university yourself or invite investors to do so in Orlu. Coming here to rant joblessly everyday won't change a thing.

This one is comparing apples with oranges. There is no city in England that is anywhere close to London in terms of development. The same with Portugal, Spain, the entire Europe, Japan etc. United States is like a continent with countries inside it. You like to make ridiculous comparisons, but you forgot that Nnewi people are investing in their town without waiting for their state government.

Owerri is developing on the strength of private investors and not even the mediocre government.

Continue crying like a baby on this thread, your mates are bringing investments into the State while all you do is to lament like someone who is handicapped.

The only higher institution Imo State government built in Owerri is IMSU yet you want it to be taken away. Imo Poly is in Orlu zone. Imo State University teaching hospital is in Orlu. The private university Rochas built with state funds is in Orlu. When Achike Udenwa was governor, he took almost everything to Orlu and no one complained yet out of greed some clannish and primitive people have continued to lament here without sense.

Orlu this, Orlu that. What about Okigwe, Mbaise, Oguta etc, don't they deserve such establishments too? On what ground is all these noise being made about Orlu?

Crap from same old person with different handles here.

They did not tell you that Okigwe, Orlu and Owerri were nearly on the same level of urban development in 1976 when Imo state was created, and these three were the official urban centers of IMSG since then.

But the abnormal development policy of some governors, coupled with restricting government institutions of development to Owerri in Imo state made Orlu and Okigwe far behind Owerri.

How many people from Owerri built modern development institutions in Owerri to make Owerri develop so far? Close to 1%.

Do Nnewi investors build Nnewi’s urban roads and drainage systems the way most of you from Owerri tell Orlu people to develop their Orlu, while IMSG develops Owerri, yearly builds new urban roads and drainage systems in expanding city of Owerri?

Your logic is like the logic of the crooks whose policies have made Imo to become a state with only one area - Owerri - embracing modern devt. The ugly situation sweets you like sugar. You take pride in describing Orlu as a backwater place.

Lies from the pit of hell. Orlu and Okigwe has never been in the same level of development with Owerri. Even before state creation, Owerri has always been a provincial capital, was once the headquarters of the oil industry, and is centrally located between major cities like P.H, Aba and Onitsha yet you claim it was in the same level with Orlu. In bold: what relationship has being provincial capital got with level of urban development? Are you not a nit wit? Calabar was once the capital of Nigeria before Lagos and Abuja.

Get the aerial maps of Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe before 1976 when Owerri was made state capital, the maps shall show you that there were little differences in the levels of urban development between Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe then.

Owerri used locating all tertiary education institutions in Imo in Owerri to ride far ahead of Orlu in modern development

As for location, Orlu is closer to Onitsha and Nnewi than Owerri. Owerri and Orlu trade with Onitsha.
Despite the evil wishes of people like you in Imo state, the Imo International market in Orlu has thrived, and even draws customers from Owerri due to cheaper prices in Orlu deriving from closeness to Onitsha.

The problem with you and your likes is ignorance, lack of exposure, unnecessary envy and primitive clannishness. Owerri has always been ahead of Orlu and Okigwe even before states were created.

For those that have been saying nonsense on how higher institutions is causing prostitution in Owerri, A BIG LIE THAT HAS BEEN STATED OVER AND OVER. Now, look at the number of higher institutions in Enugu l compiled below:

1. Enugu State college of education.
2. Caritas University.
3. Institute of Management Technology IMT.
4. University of Nigeria Enugu Campus UNEC.
5. Osisatech Polytechnic.
6. Madonna University Enugu Campus.
7. Godfrey Okoye University.
8. ESUT College of Medicine.
9. ATCOI College of Education.
10. Renaissance University.
11. ESUT Business School.
12. Enugu State University of Science and Technology.

Enugu has up to 12 higher institutions while Owerri has just 4 namely FUTO, IMSU, Alvan and Imo Poly. Now, the question is, if higher institutions makes prostitution to thrive, why hasn't Enugu become the prostitution capital of Nigeria?

I'm not from Owerri, but I don't understand all these hate and envy on Owerri. Owerri is clearly carving a niche as a relaxation and entertainment city, and not because it has lots of higher institutions rather it is because of its central location in between two commercial cities Aba and Onitsha as well as P.H has helped it to thrive as a hub in relaxation and entertainment.

I understand that his trolling is annoying but we shouldn't join in insulting either city. They're both great places. Proud sons of Orlu are developing the place at breakneck speed and the people who talk just to talk haven't been home in years and are not factors.

Some of us Igbos have terrible crab mentality. If anything good is not happening in our own kindred, village or community, we will look for a way to condemn it. We really need to do away with this disgusting attitude.

Instead of encouraging Owerri to continue growing in this niche all they do is to criticize and bad-mouth it.

Foolish people!!

You list mostly private tertiary education institutions in Enugu some of them can’t hold hard the population of students in Imsu, talk less AIfce and futo in Owerri.

There is the huge University of Nigeria in Nsukka helping to induce human and economic development in that part of Enugu state.

Owerri clothes tight to all six tertiary education institutions in Imo state for keep.

Until you agree that it’s absurd for Owerri to host all tertiary education institutions in Imo state while there is nothing in Orlu and Okigwe zones, you continue to be seen as a love-vendor benefiting from prostitution of under age students in Owerri through brothels and hotels springing up all over Owerri.

In bold.

Your desire to have Owerri to grow at the expense of Orlu and Okigwe and send Orlu and Okigwe to near extinction is the typical CRAB mentality in you.

You want your brothels and hotels prostitution business in Owerri to boom. That’s why you refuse to accept the abnormality in Imo state of futo, Imsu, aifce, polytechnicnekede, fercolat- Owerri- nothing in Orlu and Okigwe areas.

Abia state has Fed university in Capital district Umuahia.

Abia state university in Uturu

Abia state polytechnic in Aba.

Delta state has state university in Abraka,

A federal university in Effurun Warri.

A federal university in Okekenkoro.

Edo state has University of Benin in state capital.

Edo university in Uzairue.

2nd Edo state university - Ambrose Ali university in Ekpoma.

Akwa Ibom state has fed University of Uyo.

Federal Polytechnic, Ukana.

Akwa Ibom State University in Mkpat-Enin.

Akwa Ibom State College of Art and Science, Ning Ukim.

Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron.

Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Ekpene

Akwa Ibom State College of Education, Afahansit.

This pattern of distribution of tertiary education institutions goes on in all the 35 states of Nigeria - except Imo state where Owerri takes every thing.

If you in particular are not after your hotel and prostitution business in Owerri, who in his right senses shall continue to condone having all tertiary education institutions in Imo state in Owerri?

Edo state 2nd state university was built by Adams Oshiomwole when he was governor of Edo state, the same way Rochas Okorocha built Eastern Palm university when he was governor of Imo state.

The Successor of Oshiomwole converted the university he built to 2nd Edo state university.

But the one Rochas Okorocha built for Imo state university is still being resisted by profiteers in Owerri who want all universities in Imo state to remain in Owerri.

Something is seriously wrong with you. I gave you a list of the higher institutions in Enugu and it totalled 12 in number as against Owerri's 4, so going by your irrational logic, why hasn't Enugu become the prostitution capital of Nigeria since it houses so many higher institutions?

You have been blaming Imo State yet only IMSU and Imo Poly is owned by the State while the other two are Federal owned. Again, in your warped logic, you want Imo State government to remove the only two higher institutions it built in Owerri and take them to Orlu that already has Imo State teaching hospital as well as a private university built with state resources? Are you sure you have sense at all?

Orlu zone already has Imo state teaching hospital, Imo Poly and Eastern Palm university all established with state resources. If any zone has a case, then it is Okigwe and never Orlu zone.

You really must be a very greedy and clannish man. Tufiakwa gi.

Tho, I'm not from Imo state but please stop spewing rubbish here

Build hotels and lounges in orlu and okigwe too and see how it will thrive

Owerri is a capital, it deserves all the attention it's getting

After all, there's eastern palm university at orlu and Absu at okigwe/uturu, what keeps them from developing?

Government cannot do everything, what has Anambra state government built at Nnewi, yet is developing on its own

Stop complaining, start a manufacturing company at orlu, then others will follow, before you know it,everywhere will be developed

Is oguta crystal lake at Owerri? Are you people not visiting there?

I have been there like thrice, and we always come from portharcourt, each time I visit especially on weekends, everywhere will be full

Calabar was never a capital of Nigeria. Calabar can share the same rank with Lokoja and Zungeru as the administrative headquarters of Northern Protectorate. Calabar was to southern protectorate what Lokoja and Zungeru were to northern protectorate. Only goons in Nigeria cannot differentiate Nigeria and Protectorate. Only Owerri can be mentioned in the same sentence with Onicha when provincial topic is being discussed. There is no trunk A road that linked Onicha with Orlu. As a poster indicated in a previous post, Owerri had major linkage with three or four states.

In bold:

If an average civil servant from Owerri zone can train 4 of his kids in the tertiary education institutions littered in Owerri, a similar civil servant from Orlu zone may not afford to send and train up to 2 of his kids in Owerri.

Because the 4 kids of the Owerri man can be attending lectures from home, don’t pay rent, eat from the family hearth; the parents take control of their kids.

But the 2 students of the similar civil servant from Orlu zone must rent hostel or house in Owerri, cook different from their parents hearth in Orlu, out of touch with their family in Orlu.

Result: mass education in Owerri zone compared to Orlu zone. Disparity in education between the zones in one state is not good for a state.

The 300,000 or so students and visitors to them and the 5 tertiary education institutions in Owerri fetch about N3 billion monthly for development of Owerri. Nothing goes to Orlu and Okigwe areas.

It’s only a person from Orlu who has no good head that cannot see with my position.
