Portharcourt City Roads ...... by sholasys: 8:36pm On Sep 22, 2012 |
Portharcourt city roads are in shamble, flood everywhere when it rains, pot-holes, over-head bridge collapse, and some are death traps. A whole oil city for that matter everywhere is dead locked with “go slow” because of bad roads. Go to GRA, even the old GRA you can’t drive freely without hold-ups, traffic jam. Although it’s everywhere but phc is the worst in this country. The traffic management TIMA RIV can’t help the matter because most of the traffic jams are caused due to bad roads, pot-holes everywhere. Go to Woji, Elelewon axis you will ever regret driving there; just book a whole day journey. It is as bad as your house may be just a stone thrown, less say 50m, you can spend as long as 1hr on traffic before you can maneuver yourself. Trans Amadi road where the state generates the highest revenue is nothing but in shamble. Please if you have the Governor’s ears kindly help out. We need is immediate attention in Trans Amadi, let him do some fast before the planned rehabilitations, Woji, Elelewon, people are crying out, we need your help, we voted for you. 1 Like |

The problem is that we experienced high rains this year. |

Abagworo: The problem is that we experienced high rains this year. is that really an excuse?i may be wrong though. |
Re: Portharcourt City Roads ...... by Abagworo(m): 10:18pm On Sep 22, 2012 |
asha 80:I believe it is. Even in advanced countries heavy rains and hurricanes destroy roads and infrastructure. Port Harcourt is on a table semi-swampy terrain. |

jamace: Show pix to buttress your point.Picture is optional and depends on the situation in question. I don't have much time to be taken the pic of the bad roads. if you are in doubt, take effort to investigate ok |

The problem is more about road works and not the "bad roads" of the OP. |
Re: Portharcourt City Roads ...... by Kobojunkie: 6:23am On Sep 23, 2012 |
asha 80: Abagworo:It is most definitely a grand excuse, and nothing more. In Advanced countries, the rains RARELY destroy the roads. The level of destruction witnessed on Lagos roads after mere rain storms, only happens, in the west, during hurricanes, earthquakes and tornadoes . . . many of this RARE in Nigeria, and in rivers state. I have lived in several coastal cities where when it rains, it pours hard and not even in one city have I seen the kind of "destruction" you find on roads in Nigeria after rains. the problem remains bad infrastructural development. Rather than build quality roads, what your government continues doing is shortchanging you and hoping that you will not notice. |

Abagworo: The problem is that we experienced high rains this year. We have had less rain this year so far than last year. Besides this excuse is not acceptable and just like what kobo said, it boils down to poor quality of job. NDDC projects are much more terrible for this but what else do we expect when nddc contracts are being sold even here on nairaland. Also amaechi should do something about eliozu to tank axis up to Eleme junction though is FG. |

common man, you are too big to be writing this BS! I left PH yesterday and won't be coming back anytime soon due to the poor state of roads, even the newly constructed ones are in no way better. Everywhere is looking so messed up. Why is it that people like making this shameless claims of rainfall and other lies like the topography is swampy? are you telling me that the rains only fell in PH alone? every jack and jill with a pea size brain will hurriedly spew " uno say this area na swampy area and rain dey fall plenty for here" bullshhit Is Aba road not in PH? why is that road standing the true test of time or was the road imported from US? Is mile one flyover not in PH or is romouola flyover not in PH? why are those flyovers still standing for decades only for the newly constructed ones to be falling like sacks of potatoe? Stop peddling these old defence lines of experiencing high rainfall, I normally get offended when people start saying things that was fed to them without thinking about it independently. Amaechi Rotimi( though I used to be his staunch supporter) and the other scalawag called Peter Odilli should be ashame for wasting billion of dollars of public funds without any major advancement in basic infrastructure like roads. smh! ubandire: Portharcourt is a massive shame. 1 Like |
