The elephant is asleep.
Flies and ants are crawling all over your eyes.
Your precious skin is covered in sores.
Gnats are all over you.
The giant is in deep slumber.
Oh! Colossal, your fringes are eaten up.
Strangers are at your door step.

Your treasures are in ruin.
For you have forsaken your first
love: offspring.
How painful to know, oh, Giant
Your children within your walls,
in desperation to live.
Your offspring are dispersed ashore,
For the milk from your bosom dries up.

Tears rolling down my cheeks,
Who will console me?
For the mammoth lay undignified.
Your jewels are debased.
Because your leaders are in quandary
The elephant is trampled upon,
Devoid of direction, wandering in trackless field,
Chaos, anarchy, famine and wars,
Defining the land of plenty.
My eyes have seen your shame,
Your mountains are in fullness,
Yet your children are hungry.

The boundaries of the great,
Your Sea are a cesspit
ravaging your fish and sea riches.
The abundance of rain, the profusion of sunshine
All, you perceive as curses.
Your priceless land lay in desolation,
Because your affection lay not in your people .
Your forest lay dissipate,
because you squander your wealth.

The elephant is sleeping;
her children are prey for devourers.
Their lives are cut short,
overwhelmed by infirmities.
How devoid of understanding,your leaders,
Glorifying oil and gold than the
one in charge of treasures,
How debasing your thoughts:
Your men and women are seen
lower than your jewels.
The beautiful ones are dispersed
onto dry land

For you killed the blessed amongst you.
O giant, when wilst thou wake up.,....
The giant is asleep

Oh giant thou wast once called
Dwarf thou art indeed
Corruption hast ruined thee
And hope hast thou not

Rejoice for thy redemption comest
The original divine master plan for thee has been found
Sooner than later, this fake marriage shalt be divorced
For God loveth justice

Rejoice oh ye visitors to this strange and inclement land
For freedom is guaranteed in the new Jerusalem
Indeed the sun riseth again
To set no more!

I Love Nigeria Because. There Police Loves Twenty Naira Than Any Amount even More preferable Than There Salary. And I also Love Nigeria Because All Hausa Fulanis are Boko Haram's And I Also Love Nigeria because all Norther Leaders Are A Member Of Boko Haram Sect. And I Also Love Nigeria Because They Hate Igbos And They Love Killing the Igbos Using The Blood Of the Igbos for A sacrifice. IS THIS NOT A ENOUGH REASON WHY I SHOULD LOVE THE COUNTRY THAT DISLIKED AND HATE TO HEAR THE VOICE OF THE IGBOS BEING SPOKEN @ ANYWHERE IN NIGERIA. cool cool cool this is the right poem for it...

Nigeria @ 52 what do we have to show for it? Does it worth celebrating? Honestly it was proven beyond measure rome was not built in a day but if @ 52 a baby is still crawling when will he rise to his feet and walk?. This is mental pabulom for the erudite! @ 52 there is still political arsenals, @52 draconial policies are made to favour the rich at the mercy of the masses.@52 religious bigotry,@ 52 youth restiveness ,@ 52 mass unemployment ,@ 52 jungle justice,@ 52 embezzlement on the high side, @52 avalanche of insecurity, @ 52 unfulfilled electioneering promises ,@ 52 our president is the world most traveled president yet the positive impact of that is not seen nor felt,@ 52 we still import every thing including food and toothpick that we can produce in our land ,@ 52 we can not still get good leaders that will lead us right . It is only the evil geniuses that will pack our hard earned money abroad and still order us to keep quite. @ 52 our leader are still not bold enough to invest in our country except all those country where they will be given strict conditions ,@ 52 no good hospital where our leaders can be treated , the colonial once available is for the masses. @52 no credible electoral body, @ 52 we cannot celebrate four hours of uninterrupted power supply,@ 52 we cannot book our place in committee of nations in term of development .@ 52 we are on the pursuit of how we have a currency with a very large figure so that it will be easier to embezzle. @ 52 a subsidy thing .....we were just been fooled by those in power,@ 52 the Efcc and icpc are still subject to political tool .no truth in nigeria people who steal billions of dollars will be celebrated and those that steal pencil will imprisoned. We chase the shadow and leave the object. May God have mercy on we the youth whose future is been consumed by our leaders. cool BUT THE SUN SHALL RISE AGAIN cool

Hear is a little poem for our Dear Country Nigeria

Crested hills of the arid savannah
Dusty wind of a misplaced forest
Senile and tender breeze cresting my temple
Hands of nature rocking me gently
The clouds shielding me from the rain
The heat of the sun putting sunlight off

It is a gentle lullaby
Sang in front of open fires
A recitation of magical words
Learned in the coven of the mountain god
It is from the ancient stones
Polished with tears of blood
A wishy washy dream of war
When valiancy prevails and cowardice abhors

Rested on the hills of time
The blood of the saints cries
Heroes and villians alike
Whose blood could not quench
The fiery taste of mother earth
United by death they watch
Their eyes covered in shame
For the war they fought was vained
And strife still prevails

Mama Africa, Mama Nigeria
My beloveth most cherished goddess
My sacrifice of chants your ear do tingle
My thanks for fertility do sail
Born out of curiosity
Nestled under watchful eyes
A product of experiments
Could a world of diversity stand firm
You proved beyond reasonable doubt
Unity is in the blood not in skin and races
I cherish you, O.. mama Nigeria

HAPPY 52ND BIRTHDAY

A nicely constructed poem. However, the heroes of the war are not regretting; they fought a just war. It wasn't in vain.
With the present state of this empire, is there any thing the people of nigeria should be happy about? Well, happy independence to nigerians.
