Write A Description: Describe Her Beauty. by Emyo(m): 8:56pm On Oct 07, 2012
It's not for a book or for my
homework... I'm just interested to see
what writers on nairaland can come up with in describing different
kind of beauty, or beauty in different perspective.

Beauty Is in the Eye of the Beholder.

Here is what i got....the beauty must be a supernatural endowment. Like this.

Her hair was the colour of raven's
wings and cascaded like a waterfall
down her back, reaching almost to
her waist, but this was no more
striking than her eyes which were
like sapphires set symmetrically into her almost colourless face,
brimming, to the point of
overflowing, with peace, wisdom
and compassion. Her figure,
slender and pale like a porcelain
ornament and seemingly as fragile, also looked to be light as a feather.
Indeed she appeared to glide as
she moved swiftly across the
meadow, the hem of her grey robe
sweeping the grass wet with dew
as though she were floating an inch or so above the ground. Her
eyes held a distant, dreamy look
within them, yet seemed to scan
her surroundings with purpose.
Whenever her eyes met those of
another they held within them an eerily knowing look as though she
could see right into their mind and
knew exactly what they were
thinking

Got this perfect description...drop your creativity.

Her hair was a rich shade of
mahagony. It flowed in waves to
adorn her glowing, porcelain-like
skin. Her eyes, framed by long lashes,
were a bright, emerald-green and
seemed to brighten the world. A straight nose, full lips - she seemed the
picture of perfection. Had she smiled,
the world would sigh with
contentment. Had she laughed, the
world would laugh with her. And had
she wept, the whole world would want to comfort her.

Nice thread, Emyo.

Here's my [original] contribution:

The following excerpt is from the diary of an English merchant sailor who describes his experiences in West Africa. This particular entry was written circa 1715.

"We were as filthy as pigs as we sat there idly on that God-forsaken seacraft. The heavens were abuzz with the sounds of squawking seabirds as they danced along the shore, pecking at whatever caught their attention.

From the sandy coast, I squinted as I saw the troop of negroes emerge along with their captors. What intrigued me most was the sheer pulchritude of their women. Like coals shining in the brilliance of the unforgiving fireplace flame, their skin bloomed with luster. As they marched out exhausted and weary, I felt a tinge of sympathy for these creatures, these native queens. I damned my soul for ever having a hand in the suffering of such damsels, but what could I do?

As they moved across the sun-bleached shore, their breasts danced like the clanking iron pots of mother's old kitchen. As if reading my thoughts, one of them flashed a sorrowful look at me and I caught sight of her enchanting caramel eyes. Oh how lucky was I that such an innocent creature would shed a look at filthy beast such as I!

My thoughts faded as I heard the crackle of a whip and saw the wicked black rope race through the air and kiss the back of one of them. She uttered a shout of despair and within myself I did the same. But coming to my senses, I looked away and sought to distract myself but to no avail. I thought to myself, 'how could jewels such as these be exiled to America?' I thought to keep one do myself"

- Nathaniel Winters, Bight of Biafra, 1715.

Odumchi that West African description is superb...you have described not only HER but african queens in general.

Thanks for your contributions.

Who else can give beauty a finish perfection by describing 't with mind blowing words.
