If faced with that situation, which would you choose. The contract job is for a period of one year renewable based on perfomance. State reasons for your choice pls.

Calculate the present value of an N80,000 annuity for 12 months using the prevailing deposit rate. Using the result, calculate the number of months it'll take to achieve the same on a N40,000 annuity. Your answer will be obvious after.

Simply put, there isn't any such thing like a "permanent" job. Your azz can get fired at anytime. So get the best you can from any job you take.

With 80k a month in a yr u will make 960k with 40k a month in a yr u make 480k. Thats a 480thousand naira difference. It will take u an extra year to make what you make with the 80k job. Are u willing to forfeit a years worth of money for job safety? Your answer to that question will answer ur initial question.

80k contract I beg, if you know your way, it will be renewed at expiry. 40k is just rubbish and know you can be sacked or retrenched for whatever reason.

In as much it is tempting to go for the contract job, but if am in that situation, I will go for permanent 40k. Reasons being, I bellieve the permanent one will give you a career path, the pay are bound to increase with time, you are in better position to make a long term plan. Working as a young person is not just about earning but learning.

80k job in actual sense is paying you for two years, but if you are not sure of yoursef take the 40k job since the contract renewal is performance driven. Hustling things no join at all.

To a typical Nigerian, its all about the money but I believe what should go first is to find out which of the job will give you satisfaction and a strong career path. From the least salary you can comb a beta paying job due to the career life. I might be tempted to go 4 the 80k job but the best should be the career defining job.
