You made a good point but so too did Ijebabe. Obama enunciated his plan more clearly than Romney which helped in swinging independent voters (at least in my opinion). In times of recession, not spending will save money but will record negligible growth while spending MAY spur growth. Obama just has to put in enough incentives to get businesses to stay in the U.S and get those in places like China to relocate back home as well. My concern actually is what are we in Nigeria doing. The fact is this; US job numbers have to go up; now to do that, dead, comatose or new industries will have to spring up (e.g the automotive corporations like G.M, Ford). Then comes the issue of who to buy these products: The BRICS and other nations have serious protectionist laws which will help their own industries so that leaves Africa (NIGERIA), parts of Asia and the Americas as the only viable markets. And given our foreign goods consumption-driven psyche, how will we react?

To bring back buoyancy in america economy will all tdepend on the profits the industrialists or the CEOs themselves are ready to sacrifice. If they are ready to spread out, richout and keep afloat the footsoldiers that are doing the hardwork, they can keep up and maintain level balance with emerging economies like china,in terms of cost and disposable incomes. But if it is the same footpath of maximizing profits,of winner takes all, then american economy will have rely on space/alien colonization, something out of this world,to stay afloat.

Baby mama: let me educate those of you who don't live in the USA about how the elections work here so you don't celebrate Romney's win of Mississippi and South Carolina

The country is somewhat divided into red state i.e. Republican states and blue states i.e. democratic states
These are areas that traditionally vote along those lines so the candidates are expected to win in those states, nothing to celebrate there.

However there are 9 states that can swing either way
They are called swing states or battleground or purple states
These are the only states to watch

The states are

Florida
Ohio
Virginia
North Carolina
new Hampshire
Colorado
Nevada
Wisconsin
Iowa

Every state according to it's population and number of representatives is assigned a certain number of electoral votes
The total number of electoral votes for all 50 states and Washinton DC is 538 and to win the presidency the candidate must have at least 270 electoral votes
OBama winning all the traditional blue states and Romney winning all the traditional red states will not earn either candidate up to 270 electoral votes,so the swing states come into play.
So far if Obama wins Florida from that list,he is likely to win the residency since Romney will have to win all the other battleground states to win.
Romney must win florida to stay viable in the race
.

So celebrating Romney's win in West Virginia is like celebrating ACN winning in Lagos State

Good explanation. Only that you did not expatiate how the swing states' votes count up to know winner. Like when you said winning Florida determines going forward, you did not state the reason why Florida is important amongst the nine swing states.

Overall, I can see that it means individual citizen's vote in the States is not weighing same thing but rather electoral vote is what counts. When you talked about blue and red states, are you saying the residents of those states are usually populated by partisan people or it is still electoral votes that makes a blue or red party to win at all times there?

I do not necessarily have anything against putting money into the economy like the auto bailouts. What I do have something against is the overall economic ideology that liberalism preaches. It will never work in real life. If you study history you will notice an interesting pattern right from the very first Egyptian empire till date. That pattern is this. Great empires and economies were built by oligarchys and at their peak, they were destroyed by democracy. Please do a study of history and you will notice this pattern. Now that may sound elitist a bit, but if you open your mind to understand, you will appreciate the findings. Democracy is great but it poses one big problem. Selfish men can exploit the poor masses by appealing to their sentiments and getting their votes. The poor masses will have a false sense of fufilment that they are actually calling the shots but they are always eventually the biggest victims of any crash. As much as many shout about bush wars, the biggest economic danger America faces, is a faling social security.

My fear for Nigeria is that we are imbibing the western culture too fast without the structure to sustain that kind of culture. We missed the industrial age. We haven't got the structural and socio-economic foundation to sustain it. What will result is a huge imbalance in the economics of scale. Economics 101, when consumption is more than production, there will be a crash

You are making a lot of sense. Sociology, history and economics and even psychology work interdependently.

Profound economists like Adam Smith and Karl Max were versed in these subjects.

We need to develop and expand within our context.

And you are not spamming any thread. Its all part of the discussion. If more people knew how to comprehend theories and policies, politicians won't be playing mind games with us.
