Stammering is the result of fear. Many people who stammer had a harsh parent. Once a person begins to stammer, the fear of stammering gets worse.

Here is the key to breaking this demon;

When you are alone, find the words you can say without stammering. These will be your key words to start a sentence.

Find the words that lock your mouth shout, or stick your tongue to the roof of your mouth. Do not start a sentence with these words. When you must use them, say them with a light whisper.

Please believe this; When you use your key words, you will stammer less. Your number of key words will grow. Within time your fear will go away. You may at times trip over a word…but this will not be stammering.”

Do not be upset with yourself at this point. Stammering is not your fault, nor something you need to be ashamed of.

It is not your fault. Someone gave you the fear. You will overcome the fear, and this problem someone gave you will blow away like the wind.

I saw a programme on CNN bout a boy whose stammering is so bad d words won't even come out,but d irony is dat this boy Raps and when he does he raps as fast as Eminem clean n clear.

He can't make sentences but raps like a genius, tests carried out showed that d speech is on d right side of d brain while rapping and singing is on d left side which is easier

Specialist remarks: write some sentences/poems/songs u think u can recite very fast witout thinkin and try make d words flow. GOD will do it

my guy when i was very young i was a very terrible stamarer.if they send me to buy something i'll be worried because i know there was no how i'd do without stammering.bt i learned to control it by predicting the outcome of my conversation.and most importantly learn hw to talk slowly and take it easy.nw my speeches is 99.5 percent free of stammering.urs will be better by d grace of God.

To those who have fear of speaking that results in a stammer.
There are three types of stammers: Lip, tongue, and both lip, and tongue.

Try this simple cure. Hold your teeth together, and say a sentence that starts with the hardest letter of words you can not speak. W (was) T (this) C (cat) etc. Keep your teeth together when speaking.

If you can speak without stammering by holding your teeth together, do this for one month. Within that time the fear will blow away like the wind. On occasion you may stammer, but that is only normal. Revert back to holding the teeth together until you again over come the fear.

After thirty days, part your teeth. Do not move the teeth, or lips, and speak. Do this for one month. After the first, and second month, try speaking normal with key words you have no problem with. You are now almost home free. The fear is almost gone. You are winning. You are now master of free speach.
If for some reason the fear returns, start again at step one, holding your teeth together.

Many of you have prayed to God for help...here it is, thank him.

Please take the advice on this thread seriously. You can control this through practice and patience.

Your amygdala has stored all your negative experiences and thoughts hence the brain easily produces your stutter over and over again(this is automatic and not under your control because you relive your stutter daily). The key to gaining control is consciously revolving your thoughts around that hidden part of you that does not stutter.Once you handle this mental aspect,the physical aspect will fall in place.There is so much to tell you but do not have time on my hands.Sent you a mail.

The fact is you can produce every word without stuttering.

I don't Know if this happens to other stammerers. THE STAMMERING GET WORST WHENEVER IAM WHERE THERE IS NOISE. ESPECIALLY ON THE ROAD..OR ANYWHERE THERE IS NOISE.
