AS IGBO BUSINESS ARE GROWING AND EXPANDING IN IGBOLAND AND ACROSS NIGERIA AND WEST AFRICA, ACCORDING TO LONDON ECONOMIST MAGAZINE http://www.economist.com/node/21541015 AND NEW YORK TIMES http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/26/magazine/nollywood-movies.html?hpw wrote that about 30 years ago, According to legend, the first Nollywood movie was made by a small-time electronics trader named Kenneth Nnebue.Other merchants, overwhelmingly members of Nnebue’s ethnic group, the Igbo, followed him into business and controls the movie and film Nollywood in Africa. THE CHINESE AND ASIANS ALSO KNOW THAT THE IGBO TRIBE ARE VIBRANT AND INNOVATIVE BUSINESS PEOPLE.

African Traders in Guangzhou, China: Routes, Profits, and Reasons

Yang Yang

The traders today mainly come from Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, Cameroon, Senegal, Kenya, and Tanzania. The majority are identified as Nigerian Igbo, who are mainly Christians from Nigeria・s eastern regions. Compared to their other African counterparts, these Igbo usually stay for longer periods in China and sometimes manage to open multiple shops in China, earning a reputation of being ―very good at business.‖My Igbo friends said that they had to be good at business to survive, ―If you want to know about Igbo, you need to know the history of the Biafran War‖ a Nigerian ethnic war in the late 1960s which resulted in the mass expropriations of Igbo wealth and property. ―We became the poorest ethnic group and we could not enter good entry-level jobs because we were discriminated against. So Igbo had to stand on their own feet and make profits from whatever possible means,‖one trader in Guangzhou said. Here is the story of another trader:

IGBOS SHOULD WAKE UP AND STOP LISTENING TO DOOM SAYERS AND BAD NEWS FOCASTER ABOUT IGBOLAND. BUSINESS IS GROWING AND BOOMING IN IGBOLAND. REASONABLE PEOPLE SHOULD NOT LISTEN TO IGBO DOOM SAYERS AND NIGERIA DOOM SAYERS ABOUT BUSINESS IN IGBOLAND FROM SOME FEW UNINFORMED PEOPLE. GENUINE BUSINESS PEOPLE IN IGBOLAND, NIGERIA AND INTERNATIONALLY SEE IGBOLAND AS A EMERGING FRONTIER FOR INNOVATION AND LOCAL CONTENT STARTUP PLACE. TAKE A LOOK AT THE TYPES OF EMERGING BRANDS, PRODUCTS AND SUSTAINED BUSINESSES IGBO ARE USING TO PUT IGBOLAND AND NIGERIA ON THE MAP BY ENGAGING INTO BUSINESS IN TRANSPORTATION, COMPUTER, ELECTRONICS. ELELCTRICAL, AGRICULTURE, MACHINE TOOL, MOTOR PARTS, PHARMACEUTICALS, OIL AND GAS DISCOVERY ETC. IGBOLAND AND EASTERN REGION IS OPENING UP FOR GRASS ROOT AND GENUINE GROUND UP BUSINESS.

IGBOS SHOULD GO DOWN TO IGBOLAND AND START INVESTING THEIR MONEY ESPECIALLY IGBOS FROM DIASPORA AND ABROAD BECAUSE IF YOU LOOK AT THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS SECTORS CONTROLLED AND LEAD BY IGBOS. THESE ARE HOME GROWN BUSINESSES AND MARKET. ALL THESE BUSINESSES WERE CONCIEVED AND DEVELOPED IN IGBOLAND AND IN NIGERIA. IGBO LAND SHOULD BE THE NEW FRONTIER FOR IGBOS FOR BUSINESS EXPANSIO AND BUSINESS STARTUP. IGBO SHOULD LEARN TO BUILD COMPANIES AND BUSINESS FROM GROUND UP AND NOT FROM UP TO DOWN. GOVERNMENT CONTROL AND GOVERNMENT ASSISTED BUSINESS (LEGAL OR ILLEGAL) ARE ALWAYS FULL OF CORRUPTION AND UNSUSTAINABLE, AND IT DAMAGES IGBO BUSINESS LIKE ALL THESE SUBSIDY AND CORRUPT GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS THAT DESTROYS BUSINES BUT ENRICH ONLY AND FEW AND THE RICH.
IGBO BUSINESS POINTS ACROSS NIGERIA LIKE ALABA INTERNATIONAL MARKET LAGOS, IKEJA COMPUTER MARKET, ASPANDA MARKET, LADIPO MOTOR CAR PARTS, TRADEFAIR MARKET LAGOS, BENIN MARKET, PORTHARCOURT MARKETS, KANO, MAKUDI, JOS, BENIN CITY, KADUNA ETC. SHOULD HAVE EASY LINKS TO IGBOLAND IN A MORE PROFOUND WAY TO HELP THIS LINKAGE EXPAND BUSINESS AND OPPORTUNITY IN IGBOLAND.

Igbo comapnies are waxing strong ,those so called traders or petty traders as he called them its better to have them than to have almajiros running around or alayes and agberos doing nothing with their life. kudos to them for making onitsha the biggest market in the world and Aba the only place that manufactures every single thing we use from boxers, singlet ,sandals, shoes, suits etc call it aba made all we want but they are selling and will get there one day,at least they have started exporting their products to togo, ghana and benin plus cameroun thats a good start for now.

you obviously dont know what is going on in nigeria , igbos remain the major players in nigerian buisness setting both formal and informal economy , even in lagos ,name any non igbo you think have a succesful company and i will name 3 igbos that run a similar company and am talking about home grown companies spread accross nigeria and west africa and not mushroom companies stuck only in lagos or foreign companies setting up branches in nigeria.

RAPIDO COMPANIES ( own ABC transport and other consolidations now spread throughout west africa and currently central africa)
transcorp int ( am sure you know about it ,own major hotels in nigeria including transcorp hilton)
Â

anabel( the only home grown nigerian company manufactiuring mobile phones right here in nigeria)
Â

Emzor Pharmaceuticals

Ibeto Industries( we all know his story but he is waxing stronger now)

Capital Oil

chrome oil and ehc energy

mtn nigeria

slok group(shipping)
Â

visa phone
chi limited (chivita juice)

FAN (icecreams)

consolidated breweries

ANAMCO

ogbuawa(motorcycles)

Autostar

Coscharis Motors

Linkserve Ltd

Fidelity Bank

Diamond Bank

aba textiles(the only surviving nigerian textile industry left)

Sun Newspaper

Champion Newspapers

ThisDay news paper

Zinox computers

Eko Hospital

innoson

orange drugs

juhel pharmaceuticals

numerous private universities

ovium pc and tablets(recently won an arward for best african innorvation ,i don forget)

GENESIS popular in the east especially ph and enugu, own cinemas just like silver bird)
Global motors - Anumudu
lets not go into how many hotels accross nigeria owned by igbos basically all the hotels in the south east, majority in abuja, lagos ,ph, asaba, kano ,kaduna etc.

even with the death of ekenedilichukwu his company remains number one in the nigerian transport industry , even with trains coming it wont change anything just as it has not changed anything in us ,uk,china etc.
=====================================================
ABC transport,Orange drug,Delta soap,Diamönd bank,Zinox computers are Imo brands, Roban stores,Rainbownet are Enugu brands, UBA,Zenith bank are Delta igbo brands, Arik air,Wakanow are Rives igbo brands,Ovim tablet phones&Softwares are Abia brands.its like saying Nolly wood is dominated by Enugu&Imo igbos because most of our top superstars are from Enugu&Imo or say super eagles&falcons is dominate by Abia&Imo igbos finally, whatever they are, they represent Ndiigbo&Nigeria at large.

Anything "spare parts" both old and new are controlled by Igbos.

Anything "cloths & shoes" both forign and locally made are Igbos stock in trade.

Nigeria is most destructive and dream killing of a nation.

i blv its better for igbos to look home ward when building a business.

but in a country like nigeria where gov see igbo's as their worst enemy and ready to destroy anything belonging to igbos.
the strategy of home investment is better but more vulnerable to destroy us when gov target us.

example: when OBJ was on seat, he make sure he destroy economy in eastern Nigeria.
why?
because core-north and southwest sees igbo's as their worst nightmare and arc-enemy.

how?
Obj closed down Onne-port where major goods imported by igbos comes from, and set up custom checking points from lagos down to onicha-asaba Niger bridge just to check mate igbo business men. this hatred was too bad that Obj(Yoruba man) cares less that most goods are coming into Nigeria via Benin-Togo another country.
Nigeria lost more than $10b to Benin-Togo cuz of that but do you know its better for these guys than to allow igbo man hard work bear fruit.

why did Nigerian government refuse to build international air-port in the east?
why did they refuse to build port's in eastern Nigeria?
why did they refuse federal presence in the east to develop it like other region?
we can go on and on

these are calculated actions not co-incidence.

setting up business outside igbo land has made it difficult for our enemies.
you can't burn down igbos business without hurting other tribes in the process.
unlike during IBB where they set up Onicha and Ariaria on fire and hit igbos alone.

this days when they set balogun mkt on fire 20% yorubas will be affected too which may not recover but 80% igbos involve will recover in less than a year.
when they set sabon gari mkt on fire do you know 35% hausa/fulani's will be affected which may not recover while 63% igbo affected will recover in short time.

my point is this "if we ended up bringing back all our business home, i tell you one strike alone will cripple us".
but i 9ja voice strictly stand on bringing back all manufacturing company own by igbos back home, small scale excluded.

Go ask people in USA, and Europe. It is the middle class that is the engine of the economy and not big corporation.

Government that go about killing the middle class and small businesses and denying them the competitive ability is evil.

^^^Igbo industrialists and business men don't invest in places like Abuja and Lagos out of self-hate or b'cos they love these places more than their homeland; it's b'cos (as i've stated many times b/4) the powers that be.....the owners of Nigeria have centred almost everything in Lagos and Abuja, with cities like Kaduna/Kano/Zaria/Port Harcourt coming a close second in preference (Port Harcourt only featuring b'cos of the oil industry, and not for any noble reason like trying to balance things); so Igbo owned businesses have to locate at these places to have close contact with the central gov't (which is the main patron of business in Nigeria), or to make contact with the outside world via seaports and int'l airports; it's been set up in a way that 'Nigeria' sells itself to the world as a destination to come and do business, and when investors arrive they are made to see Lagos and Abuja as 'Nigeria' and the base from which you can spread your tentacles if you so desire......this has given these cities an advantage in terms of real estate, hospitality industry, worldwide recognition, etc.

Things are only changing a bit now with Presidents Yar'adua and Jonathans efforts to open up other regions/zones (that have been criminally left to 'rot') with the approval of new int'l gateways like the deep sea port at Ibaka, dredging of the River Niger and Enugu int'l airport.

That's why i say as a people, we should be interested in who occupies Aso Rock Villa.....esp' if the country isn't restructured, and things remain as they are, with a powerful all controlling centre.

How many of the so called yoruba companies were actually stolen from foreign owners during awolowo indigenisation degree as d finance minister. Besides, listing companies owned by yoruba politicians like a abiola is quite lame, how many listed igbo companies are owned by politicians. We are talking about enterprenuership not looting of public funds.

Isn't Xerox Nigeria an arm of Xerox Corp.?

Xerox H.S (Nigeria) Limited came into being on 1st of January, 1996, as a result of the need for Xerox to maximize local market opportunities and become more responsive to customer requirement. Prior to this, Xerox business has been managed by Rank Xerox (Nigeria) Limited for over twenty- two (22) years.

Thank you. The bolded part had been my reason for advocating that we should always try as much as possible channel our industries back to east.Waiting for Nigeria Govt to develop our cities like they do to other regions then we have to wait till eternity.Nigeria Govt had been very unfair to igbos tribe God in heaven sees that hence he Bless igbos with special skills not to wait on Nigeria govt. This Nigeria is not truly our country until there is true senses of belonging or a set up for true restructuring and reconstructing of Nigeria.

The only Govt on earth that killed talent's on it citizens just because they are from certain ethnicity.

As long as you are still having those horrible tiger marks on your face you are subhuman. To prove to you that yorrobber people are subhuman beings, OBJ is the ugliest president Nigeria has ever produced, a gorrilla looks 10 times better than OBJ. Taye Taiwo is another example.
