Scholars have been battling over Shakespeare's sonnets for centuries, based on their own unease. There are 154 of those sonnets, if I remember, and the first 126 are addressed to a man,Mr WH and 28 to a woman, the Dark Lady. Many of them are passionate declarations of love. They are available for you to read. Louis Crompton didn't write Shakespeare's sonnets. They were published centuries before Louis Crompton was born!
