New Mercedes Ener-G-Force concept revealed

I saw these images on worldcarfans yesterday, this concept's styling previews the design of the replacement for the iconic
G-wagen ( which has used the same boxy design for almost 40yrs). I hope the key styling cues make it to the production version.

this utility concept of the future also incorporates technology not available on vehicles today. This is only a full-scale model without a functioning powertrain, but Mercedes imagines the Ener-G-Force would be powered by four independently controlled motors, one mounted at each wheel. A topography scanner mounted on the roof would enable the suspension to continuously adjust to changing terrain for maximum traction.

In case that’'s not futuristic enough for you, Mercedes says this concept would be powered by hydrogen fuel cells that some of their energy from recycled water captured in the tanks mounted to the roof. The water would be used in a “"hydro-tech" converter” that turns “natural and renewable resources” into hydrogen. Water also would be this concept's only emission.

No word yet on whether George Jetson has put down a deposit on one.

Mark my words, the production version will use conventional powertrains and probably a hybrid variant to please to 'green' folks. This is basically a design study- just like the f700 concept. Styling cues from it will make it to upcoming model(s).
