The biggest ceramic factory in Africa, Goodwill Ceramic FZE, would be commencing full operation by December 10 in Agbara Igebesa area of Ogun State. The Chinese company, which would be producing ceramic of different sizes and colours, is to be producing 35,000 square metre ceramics on a daily basis with its high automated machines. The company's spokesman, Mr. Henry Liang, who conducted journalists round the factory weekend, said the company moved to Nigeria last December with the aim of investment, saying that the construction of company started in March while operation is set for December 10. Henry said Goodwill Ceramic is always on the principle of reliable services, saying that the entry of the company into the market would crash the prices of ceramic tiles. While justifying the crash of ceramic prices in the market, he said 90 per cent of the raw materials for production are gotten from Nigeria, disclosing that the company is also generating its independent power services. The $50 million company, according to him, is expected to employ about 10,000 Nigerians, disclosing that the Chinese who trained Nigerians on how to operate the automatic machines have been sent back to China. However, the Ogun State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Bimbo Ashiru, who led the team to the company, said "the governor Amosun came in with our five-point agenda which he christened mission to rebuild Ogun State.” According to him, “the Chinese expatriates they brought in have taught Nigerians on the capacity building. They brought about 400 containers for the equipment. This is going to create another job opportunities." He continued: "In fact, they generate 6 megawatt but what they need is 4 megawatt, you can see that they are well prepared to start and I am very impressed. Ogun is known for its many pre-eminence in so many key areas of socio-economic life of this country. Today's visit is partly the result of our trip to China." He added the recent foreign investment forum held in Abeokuta has started yielding results, noting that the state has been able to woo more investors with about 60 companies with 100 percent interest. He therefore, assured people of the state that their excavating would not lead to flooding as well as environmental hazard. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/ogun-mega-ceramic-factory-to-start-in-decby-sheriff-balogun/131662/ 1 Like |
