As a calabar boy, we always pray for december to come, because from every 1st to the 31st of december the cross river state government always sponsor free shows every night at the stadium or milleninum park complex, but some criminals have taken advantage of this benevolence to rob with impunity.
As a guy who is street wise i will advice any body coming to the festival to do the following

1)avoid taking your phones to shows

2)avoid holding a large sum of money to this shows

3) If you are taking your girlfriend to shows please after the show take the nearest taxi to your abode to prevent your girlfriend from being raped by this hoodlums

4)After the shows please avoid taking the following roads because phone snatchers always lay ambush for their next victim
a)mary slessor b) bogobiri street c) queen duke street d) barracks road

5)beware be warned dont fall a victim.

I have seen all this things happen to people, please if you are visiting calabar for the festival please be safety conscious, calabar is not as safe as the government potrays it.

In as much as one needs to be security conscious anywhere you go. Calabar is safe. All these things happen to people who find themselves at the wrong place at the wrong time. If you move with a car, you're 100% safe.. Morever, taxis are everywhere.. Go to the xmas villa and have fun, jump into your car and head out safely. OP stop been pessimistic. You too de fear. Seasons greetings.

Cali is d safest place in dis country jare. But J̶̲̥̅̊u̶̲̥̅̊S̤̥̈̊τ̲̣̣̥ like in all places in dis world, some places are r a bit less secure than others.
@op, I think ur exaggerating a bit. avent bin 2 stadium dat late, but once walk back home from jasper club @ 2am along marian nd was like I was on an evening stroll.

Ofçourse we all need to be security conscious and careful when in dark and lonely roads, also when in a Large gathering of people anywhere in the world.
I can testify that calabar is very safe compared to other states in Nigeria. Some of the hoodlums the op is reffering to are not from Cross River State, because an average Cross Riverian(Ogoja,Calabar)is peaceful and hospitable.
