The unauthorised use of fireworks has been illegal in Nigeria since 1984 (decree by the Buhari Regime). Almost everybody ignores the law, except in some exceptional cases (Boko Haram, coups, etc).

Reasons for the law.

1) Security agencies and members of the public can't differentiate between the sounds made by fireworks and the sounds made by firearms.

2) Indiscriminate use of fireworks could lead to fire outbreak.

3) Indiscriminate use of fireworks (particularly "banger" ) could lead to injuries (loss of fingers, etc).

Impossible,although i dont buy it,they can't ban It,since year 2000 they have been banning it,no Action

What is the relationship between banger and criminality? Xmas is less celebrated than 24th night and 31st is more celebrated than new day in nigeria. As for me let the fun continue
