EFCC seizes 48 properties belonging to Timpre Sylva

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), on Thursday seized 48 choice properties belonging to the former Bayelsa state governor, Mr Timpre Sylva.

The former governor is being prosecuted at a Federal High Court in Abuja for allegedly misappropriating N6.46 billion state funds during his tenure as governor of the oil rich state.

Confirming this to Channels Television, EFCC spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, said the commission’s action follows an order on December 28, 2012 by Justice A. R. Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Assets covered by the forfeiture order include: a mansion at 3 River Niger street, Plot 3192 Cadastral Zone AO, Maitama district Abuja and nine units (comprising six one bedroom and 3 two bedroom apartments) at 8 Sefadu street Wuse Zone 2, Plot 262 Cadastral Zone AO2, Wuse Abuja.

Others are 2 units’ duplexes at 5 Oguta Street, Plot 906 cadastral zone Wuse 11 Abuja.

Trial of the substantive suit comes up on 10th January, 2013.

@GARRI (X7); That DSP Alamesegha was convicted of corruption doesn't stop him from bringing President GEJ from obscurity to limelight.
If you understand the wide spread criticisms and condemnations that greeted President GEJ nomination as deputy governor of Bayelsa State in 1999 when DSP Alamesegha single handedly picked him from the public service and insisted that he has made his choice of a deputy governor against the prevailing odds at the time which ofcourse provided President GEJ the platform to where he is today.

Being grateful to his benefactor before the whole world is the RIGHT thing to do as a man who doesn't appreciate people that made him is not a grateful man. President GEJ actions shows that he hasn't forgotten where he started off.

Akanbi_edu: These ND guys are busy using funds meant to develop their region to buy up properties in Abuja.

When they get out of federal power, they will start disturbing us again about underdevelopment in their region.

all4naija: If the properties were gotten from a dubious means they should be seized and the person jailed for long time. These leaders should be careful with the way they are stealing the nation's wealth, it doesn't tell good of them and the country.
