I'm looking to buy a new car finally, and can't decide between a new Audi S5, or the M3. The M3 has better performance, but the S5 has an incredible interior, and I think it looks better overall. M3 looks like an ordinary 3 series .

The 4.0 V8 E92 M3 earns my vote, Although it will soon be replaced by the M4(which will be powered by a twin-turbo Inline-Six,the nxt line of 3series coupes/cabriolets will have 4series badges on em). The S5 is one the most beautiful coupes Walter De Silva designed- the looks can kill! AWD gives it a performance advantage becuz of the extra grip. Both vehicles are awesome though...but i just have a thing for BMW coupes.

Siena: Both are great cars. I have no bias, I've owned BMW in the past - a 1990 E30 325 M-Tech Sport, as well as a 1990 E30 M3 Cabrio. I also currently run a 2008 BMW 120d M-Sport.

One thing I am keen on though, is AWD. Which is why I feel my Audi have the edge. RWD is great on a car with limited power, and if all your roads are good. AWD is best at putting the power down, even in wet, slippery (muddy) conditions. My Audi have traversed terrain where my BMW will not venture, unless I wish to be towed out.

I haven't driven the current M3, but I've definitely had an extended test drive of the Audi S5. It's an awesome car, loads of power and lateral grip. You find yourself braking quite late in corners, and accelerating out earlier than with a RWD BMW. I've driven the E46 M3, and it's no match for the AWD car, in similar conditions.

However, RWD cars have their fans. If drifting is your forte, then the BMW will make more sense. If being able to push your car round twisty roads, point your car and blast out of a corner, and end up where you wish to be, then the S5 Quattro is the car to go for.

I do feel the difference when I get out of my BMW and climb into any of my Audi. AWD is way superior to RWD in every way. lateral stability is better with AWD.

Either car you pick, you'll enjoy it.

really can u compare the 2013 m3 to the s5 audi, i think it should be the rs5 quattro gmbh. If u have that kind of money why not go for a bently continental gt?.

The Audi S5 is more beautiful than the BMW M3, AWD advantage better traction on wet surface...i haven't sat in both interiors to compare but looking up reviews, the Audi has it. But personally, i'm fascinated by numbers, the M3 performs better in terms of numbers...in the quarter mile et al, the 335i coupe vs the Audi S5, 13.6 vs 13.8 quarter mile, I6 vs V8 respectively. The 335i steals the show with its 300hp turbo engine (i prefer a N/A though), but the M3 is a naturally aspirated engine. The Audi is also weightier...they are some of the best cars around, but i'l pick the M3 cos of its 414bhp...
