You cannot say that within those 20yrs you've not seen any of these places. Even in Abeokuta where i stayed, and passing through any of the other states, there were lovely LOVELY places. From Ekiti to Jigawa. And for the 207th time, We all know about those negatives. The point is that it's not all negative!. Me, all my years in Nigeria, most of what i see is that beauty. That's wot my eyes want to see, and that's wot they mostly see.

yeah i bet you guys have some relatives suffering over there,  when ya travel abroad your life is better. nigeria is better,  nigeria is so good why is everyone hanging on the boat travling illegally just to escape the suffering? grow up,
right now i am out of that country for good, the only thing i miss is my family over there, other than that, i dont miss the nepa take light for how many months having to turn on generator when watching a movie, , dont miss the fear of travling from one end to the other for armed robers, dont miss the armys and police force taking bribe and beating up people to death on thier bike because they dont get the bribe they need. dont miss the hospitals who pump people full with medcations for a horse. and have no clue what the problem is, dont miss the gun fights between armys and youths killing other innocent people, dont miss waking up one morning and half the street is burnt down, yall can praise that God forsaken country, but till everyone can start living an avrage life, that place is still bleeped up, all can say its good because you are somewhere where you enjoy good health, but i stand for those who are still suffering the very very dark side of Nigeria, who are fighting despiratly to leave. and dont even care what anyone says, my opinion is my opinion, you can take it leave it, or beat yourself to death because i say that country is bleeped, ( it is bleeped).

Re: Pictures Of Nigeria - Show Us Nigeria Through Your Pictures by Houstony3k(f): 7:40am On Jul 28, 2008
Ruby_Pearl (f) there is no grammer in my post just simple english, if you dont know what grammer is then you need to pick up a dictionary, and to be honest, i dont even care how many of you here pee your pants from my post, only make my points clear that that country Nigeria is wacked, and all you trying to be pumpus and proud, showing off to the outside world that nigeria is good heck, because you cant stand to say you come from a third world country? dont you know?, nigeria is one of the most poorest country in the world, all the oil it earns, even from the delta where i'm from nothing is being done to help, why you think the boys there have to take hostage of expert workers just to make thier living, and you all sitting there and talking shit. Woe on you

Re: Pictures Of Nigeria - Show Us Nigeria Through Your Pictures by Houstony3k(f): 8:16am On Jul 28, 2008
yeah good night fuckhead, you bored thats why your dumb ass have to jump into insult because you cant stand the fact that my own point of view is diffrient from yours, cant get everyone to think your right. and thats just a fact, nice pictures of nigeria everyone being proud and poumpus makes me sick, because i have seen people get shot, seen people get robed, seen people get harrased by the nigerian force and more, seen peoples homes and shops get burnt down, seen people sleep on the street, (alot under lagos bridge) i only saw one post who thinks diffriently ( which is the truth), so pardon me if i dont think that Nigeria is the same paradise as you think, Thank goodness for diffrience of opinion, but if you think my opinion is bad, one thing for you to do is beat yourself up and spare me the arrogance.

Sammy107_d (m) Even in Abeokuta where i stayed, and passing through any of the other states, there were lovely LOVELY places. From Ekiti to Jigawa.
and as a reply to that post,  the country where i currently live in now,  i don't need to drive very far to see nice places,  these says,  from my garrage to anywhere i want to be,  is good roads street lights power 24/7,water and so much more to count, in a country where everyone potray that nice,  only posting pictures of the nice places and trying to say Nigeria is not as bad as people say it is,  well i don't believe i have to travel 300 miles to find anything good,  and travel to other states to find anything good,  in case you don't know from oil alone Nigeria earns more than 18 billion a day,  yes ( over 18 billion a day),  means makes more money than many other countries with good roads and lights, water, health care e.t.c and if all that money don't go to Swiss bank accounts aboard,  if half could just be spent in That country,  you wouldn't need to travel distance to look for good roads and power, or nice building,  and not till every Nigerian citizens starts getting the benefit of that oil money, which is simply,  good roads, steady lights, good health care, good education, till then,  all those fancy buildings and roads you all posting from Abuja means nothing to me,  Abuja is just a show off built by the government to make Nigeria look like a better place,  Lagos is been forgotten( i mean the real side of Lagos not only VI) ,  capital moved to Abuja because they don't want to spend cost on making Lagos look as beautiful as Abuja,  Lagos will always be the capital of Nigeria,  and Abuja is counterfit.

Ruby_Pearl (f)
yes i am such a bore to you,  1 because i am not here for your entertainment purpose,  and its the last thing i will want to do post anything nice for you,  my post aren't meant to be nice are just meant to say my difference of opinion,  so its up to you to try finding it entertaining or leaving it the way it is,  i don't lick peoples a$s due to how many posts they have posted or try to impress to make them feel better,  i post what i think which is way different from what you think. i present it the way i want it,  just as you present it the way you want it,  everyone got their right,  to how they want their presentation.,. i have read this post,  the only person who say Nigeria is not as nice as you all make it seems the only thing you got to say to him was,  shut up,  so i was prepared to hear all that when i posted my opinion here,  and trust me it doesn't bother me,

Ruby_Pearl (f) it looks like you give a shit more than you try to show,  if you did not give a shit,  you will not even reply to my post in the first place,  you will not comment me to shut up because i think differently than you,  so the headache is yours to bare not mine, when you come back knock yourself out and tell me how you feel,  one fact still remains,  i think Nigeria is whacked, miss managed, and bleeped up,  you feel so sad about this? i am a Nigerian you are a Nigerian,  at least i can admit what is wrong you can't,  you need to grow up

Re: Pictures Of Nigeria - Show Us Nigeria Through Your Pictures by londoner: 11:45am On Jul 28, 2008
Houstony3k,
I don't think there is anyone who is Nigerian that doesn't know the ills of the country. We all know there needs to be serious change. However, there are also nice places in Nigeria, whether we like it or not. Yes, there are people who struggle to eat, who are afraid to go out, who hear gun shots everyday. I don't despute what you say at all, but these positive  pictures are also true pictures of Nigeria.

I think instead of saying the person who will change Nigeria is not yet born, those who are born need to think about what they actually do to produce the changes they would like to see, even in a small way or to one person.

The truth is that many of us don't go any further than complaining and we aren't willing to either. Afterall if we all do nothing, what change will occur?
Re: Pictures Of Nigeria - Show Us Nigeria Through Your Pictures by Arnold1(m): 2:30pm On Jul 28, 2008
Houston3k,

Houstony3k:

After watching all these nice pictures of nigeria, i got very sick to the stomach

You just seem so disgusted that people are posting (mostly) nice pictures of Nigeria. Why is that ?

Aren't they pictures of Nigeria ? When one visits Nigeria, you would see the nice parts and "not so nice parts"
of the country. True or false ?

Would the pictures of the ghettos like ajegunle have made you happy ?

What kind of person is not happy to see nice pictures of her country embarassed

Houstony3k:

why are the rest of the 99% of nigerians living in daily struggle and poverty been forgotten?

And please, I don't know of the Nigeria that you are referring to where 99% of them are living in daily
struggle and poverty. It is true we have poor folks in Nigeria, but definitely not to the tune of 99%.

You are making some incorrect blatant statements here, and that is what many of the people here don't appreciate.

Simply put:Nigeria is the RICHEST-POOREST country in the world, nuff said.
Re: Pictures Of Nigeria - Show Us Nigeria Through Your Pictures by doitall: 4:00pm On Jul 28, 2008
Well,

I've been reading this forum quite a while, i never felt like writing anything untill now.

I am not a nigerian, not even an african but i had the luck to have a good friend that is a nigerian. I went so many times to nigeria with him for holiday's, and yes we had a good time overthere,

I really think Houstons comment is correct. The first time I arrived in Lagos I was really shocked by what I saw. I've travelled all around the world but what I saw in nigeria was unique.  The majority of these pictures isn't a representation of what i saw in the places i've visited (Lagos, Warri, Benin City, Auchi, ). Sure, these nice places exist in nigeria, but if they are a blessing to the people is another thing.

It's like a mirror reflecting the materialistic character of nigerian society.

Materialistic you say ?

Let me give you a typical funny example:

The bigger your mobile phone the more respect you get from people, nobody care's you're using a 500 usd blackberry to flash your friend instead of calling him, just to save credit, it's putting the 500usd phone on a table in a drinking parlor what counts. I even saw guys carrying a mobile phone not even containing a sim card,

I also find nigerians wealth very unequal divided: What do you think that a foreigner as myself thinks when he sees a governor driving in a 150000usd SUV filled up with flatscreen tv's escorted by police driving in 250usd peugeot 504 wrecks made in the 1970's. Shouldn't it be more fair if that governor drives a car of 30000usd and buys the police some descent equipment with the remaining 120000usd ?

This is just an example on small scale, but if you put this example in perspective with the few very nice buildings and the rest of the poor infrastructure you might be able to get my point.

I find Houston's comment the comment of a potential people's leader instead of the comment of a fool.
Well i can write so many things of my experiences in Nigeria that you all get tired.

To finish my post one last thing. Does this mean that i didn't find anything good overthere, absolutely not. I think nigerians are one the most loving  people in the world. The nightlife in Lagos is great, your Suya is wonderfull and you're beer taste's ok but many important things concerning its citizens are terrible.

Maybe i'll write down more of my experiences here one day, if i'm not hated by my comments allready wink
Re: Pictures Of Nigeria - Show Us Nigeria Through Your Pictures by Sammy107d(m): 4:09pm On Jul 28, 2008
Doitall. you are safe and your comments are true and not as extremely condemning and judgmental as houstonys

"I find Houston's comment the comment of a potential people's leader instead of the comment of a fool.
Well i can write so many things of my experiences in Nigeria that you all get tired."

Well, i dont want someone who gets sick to the stomach at progress for a leader.
It's not like im rich, or iv not been robbed or i dont see people get shot and stuff, but I cant wait to go back to Nigeria. I just love the place. Houstony just hates it. ALL GUD.

Re: Pictures Of Nigeria - Show Us Nigeria Through Your Pictures by Houstony3k(f): 4:38pm On Jul 28, 2008
The kind of person who is not happy about those nice pictures, is the kind that have seen all the bad there is about the place,  i have made my point clear  and thats enough,  not looking for praises,  i just disagree with what those pictures represent,  because if everyone in Nigeria could live in those type of environment they will not be hanging on boats trying to escape the poverty.

Yes i help Nigeria by trying to get my family out of that hell hole,  as long as they are there my mind is not at rest,  because of the bad roads ( unwanted accident) bad health care, ( get sick go to the hospital and can't make it because they are not treated properly), can't get good educations and only a few can make it even in the hardship,  if i could help the whole Nigeria i would,  but those who gets the daily cash and transfer them to swiss accounts,  need to start doing something,  the only connection i have with Nigeria so far is my family down there,  yes i help them because government doesn't provide any help,  hard to understand? your problem,  i have lived Nigeria hardship,  and the only thing i am proud of to say is,  that hardship make you learn about life the hard way,  and appreciate the good.

If i see pictures of burnt houses, and dead bodies, yes thats reality in Nigeria i can accept, the day it all changes for the best, i would love to see the overall changes not the nice presentation of a country that does no good to its growing population, the richer gets richer and the poor gets poorer, i don't even want to go deep about Nigeria here from what i know and have seen with my own eyes, because i know the truth is hard to take in, everyone wants to see paradise, thats upto Nigerian Gov to start spending some hard Earned Nigerian cash on the country, instead of making some sides look nice why the major problems still lies within.

Well, i don't want someone who gets sick to the stomach at progress for a leader.

True, but i don't think she is against progress, she is just against the unequal divided wealth. Most leaders in your country just want to fill their pocket as fast a possible before their term has past.

What's the use of a picture where they are selling a BMW X5 in some kind of shop, and how did the happy few able to buy it get their money you think ?
What's the use of a picture of a guy with some kind of Hotrod car, and a over pimped SUV ?

This is the other side of the nigeria I saw http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=uz5khkRJJhA, and a few nice buildings and a working traffic light doesn't really help those guys molested by the autorities, or a new football stadium far away.
Anyway, if a politcian in my country would build such kind of stadium while the people in the streets do not have descent access to power or health care he wouldn't be a politician for long,

Far away from the molested okada drivers, in the youtube video. Sorry if my sentence wasn't clear.
Re: Pictures Of Nigeria - Show Us Nigeria Through Your Pictures by Houstony3k(f): 5:03pm On Jul 28, 2008
http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=uz5khkRJJhA thats reality,  now that reminds me of the Nigeria i know,  okada is another means of public transport in Nigeria,  was coming home one evening when the army asked us to give 20 naira,  and even before they said we have to give them 20 naira each they had us kneel on the ground,  the bike man, myself and my friend,  after how many minutes before they asked us to give them that money,  now sorry guys if i just don't agree with you on this so called paradise ,  but reality is what i care about,  that youtube video i just saw, is the life i know.
and i have seen thousands of others in Nigeria go trough  same thing.

my presentation is bad yeah,  i love it,  thats how i learned to live,  hard and cold,   and i am proud of the way i present,  i make my point clear,  and not looking for good comments, nothing anyone says can make me change the way i think or what i believe,  its one way,  take it or leave it,  i don't care.

i am not into politics,  i talk about the life i know and if thats hard for anyone to understand,  beat yourself up,  your call,  i comment, you get pissed. works for me.

what we're saying is that you're diverting the whole thread with your negative attitude -  please tell me who does not know about the negative part of naij, personally i do not want to see it here. Why do u want to see burnt houses and dead bodies when there are over 1 million different sites online that is already focused on showing the negative side e.g CNN or BBC

To make u happy, here is something for you: http://www.viewnaija.com/video-2839.html

yes, thats the real side of the paradise everyone talks about here, happens daily, if nigeria is so well organised and managed, law enforcement well organised, these things wouldn't, happen, so is nigeria this so called paradise? everyone gasping to all those nice pictures, time to ask your Nig Gov to start doing something about those brutality, instead of talking here like the world you come from is the best.
