IMO,it is not appropriate  Do you expect the bride's dad to pay for the whole wedding as well?i think that this is crazy. Its backwards. Maybe Im old school  but a man should be the one providing the ring. If I am a male and dating a woman,then she buys her own ring I dont think I could be with her. There are just somethings you just let a man do and this is one of them. If she is buying me the ring makes me feels like she is rushing me and if she is rushing me is she truely the one? The saying is a man should seek the woman. |

sanb: If a guy proposes to his fiancée without an engagement ring due to his inability to afford one at the moment and she accepts; is it then appropriate for her to go ahead and buy herself an engagement ring cos she probably can afford to do so? The reason for such an action; was mainly to avoid people asking why she hasn’t got an engagement ring on.... Well, to me there is no cause for alarm. I believe she might have done that just because she truly and genuinely accept my proposal and also trying to re-affirm her conviction. |

A woman who goes to buy a ring for herself is a thirsty bi0tch. She is so eager to show off that she is engaged. If the dude proposes and he didn't have a ring or can't afford a ring then probably he shouldn't have proposed. Better yet he could tell her that he would love to propose but he doesn't have the money for the ring. if she then says she has money for the ring they can go buy it together. |

Where have you been girl? Hope you're good. @topic. I think the purpose of a a ring is to seal the deal of marriage ie, an offer has been made and accepted. If a man can't afford a ring for engagement. I think he can use anything else. Rings are just conventional, bracelets won't be bad at all .But seriously, i don't think it's appropriate she gets herself a ring. Traditionally, it's a man's role to do that when he's coming to propose. If he can't afford to buy one that's expensive enough, something within his pauper means will do till he can upgrade. The woman he loves will certainly understand...hopefully. Outside that, if they are open minded enough n she's certain he'll eventually marry her, i guess it's okay. So long they have an understanding and she lets him do the shopping himself  . A man still needs his pride intact... |

Unfortunately, I'm rich enough to buy a ring for any girl I deem fit, if she thinks it's cheap then there is a problem, a big one at that. So if a guy is ready to date someone, he shouldn't be that broke not to be able to afford a ring, if he can't then he doesn't deserve her and he is unprepared for a relationship with her. Finaly, If she is desperate to get a ring, she can get one for herself and when the guy is rich enough to buy one she can then accept his'. Afterall for her to be desperate about a ring it shows that 'Owo lo po ni owo e'(she has enough money to want to spare on a ring). |
