Lost your Windows 7 login password and totally got locked out of your Windows 7 PC? You may find that some Windows XP password reset solutions does not work on you Windows 7 computer? Why? Refer to the questions on how to reset Windows 7 password, there seems to be a number of solutions to solve this problem. But in reality, most of the recommended methods cannot work. Users may forget to create a password reset disk in advance, or do not have another administrator account since they have only one accessible guest account. To see if the first 2 methods work for you.

Method 1: Reset your forgotten password from the command prompt

In the Command Prompt you can monitor all the user of the computer by typing some commands.
1: Press Win Key+R and type cmd in the Run command box and hit enter to open command prompt. And then type net user in the command prompt and hit Enter. The Command Prompt will show you all accounts on the Windows 7 PC.
2: Type net user xyz (xyz is the locked admin account's name and 123 is the new password) and press Enter. Now you have successfully created a new password on the locked admin account.
3: Type shutdown -r -t 00 and press Enter.

Method 2: Reset your forgotten password with control userpasswords2

1. Click the Windows 'Start' button. Windows 7 has the command text box directly in the 'Start' menu popup. Type 'control userpasswords2¡å and press 'Enter' to open the utility.
2. Click the user name you want to edit. Click the 'Reset Password' button at the bottom of the user list. This button opens a new window where you type the new password.
3. Type the new password in the 'Password' text box. Type it again in the 'Confirmation' text box. Click 'OK' to save the settings. Repeat this step for each user you want to change.
