Middlesbrough Vs Chelsea - FA Cup (0 - 2) On 27th February 2013 by Havilah93(m): 9:40am On Feb 27, 2013 |
Rafael Benitez takes the west London side to the Riverside Stadium to face the Championship outfit with a last - eight clash at Old Trafford awaiting the victors. Tony Mowbray will be without defenders Justin Hoyte and Stuart Parnaby, meaning Andre Bikey should start at right-back with Stephen McManus alongside Rhys Williams at centre-back. Josh McEachran, currently on-loan from Chelsea, is ineligible to play against his parent club. Up front Lukas Jutkiewicz (ankle) is a doubt for the game, and so Curtis Main is on standby to support Scott McDonald. Meanwhile, Rafa Benitez should continue with Petr Cech in goal ahead of second-choice keeper Ross Turnbull, despite his tendency to rotate goalkeepers in the cup. Ryan Bertrand is likely to replace Ashley Cole at left-back, though, with John Terry set to partner David Luiz at centre-back and Branislav Ivanovic to start at right- back after Benitez ruled out Gary Cahill (virus) and Cesar Azpilicueta (leg). Juan Mata is likely to be rested for the tie to give Oscar a chance whilst Fernando Torres should also return to Benitez's team. Middlesbrough have not scored in their past five meetings with Chelsea and the last time the Blues visited the Riverside Stadium, they thumped Boro 5-0 in the Premier League. The Teesiders have only lost three of their last 22 FA Cup games at home. This will be the fourth meeting between Middlesbrough and Chelsea in the FA Cup. Chelsea have won two (including the 1997 final) and Boro have won one. Chelsea have kept a clean sheet in nine of their last 11 matches against middlesbrough in all competitions. The Blues have only lost one of their last 52 FA Cup games against lower ranked sides;losing 0-1 to Barnsley in March 2008. |

Chelsea will win this match granted middlesborough is a mediocre team but they are not. Ever since they were relegated to the second division, they've been roaring like wounded lions and we all know what wounded Lions are capable of. I just pity Chelsea sha. |

I hope that footless striker is not going to be fielded. And make the coach not collapse the midfield again o like he did after removing mikel @ Etihad stadium |

Youngster Nathan Ake is handed his full debut in midfield after making a brief cameo in the Boxing Day win at Norwich City. In defence, meanwhile, John Terry, Paulo Ferreira and Ryan Bertrand come in for Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Ashley Cole . Yossi Benayoun makes his first start of the season for Chelsea, while Victor Moses and Oscar, both late substitutes at the Etihad, also start, tucked inbehind Fernando Torres . Josh McEachran, currently on loan at Middlesbrough from the Blues, is ineligible to play any part. |

Oscar sends a teasing ball across the face of the Boro goal just inches away from the onrushing Victor Moses. Early warning sign from the visitors there. |

Friend does well to prevent Moses from getting his cross in and the home side comfortably deal with Oscar's poor ensuing corner, before Torres flashes another low cross across the six-yard box but no- one was there to help it in |

Scott McDonald is narrowly flagged for offside when it looked as though he had eluded the clutches of John Terry. 1 Like |
