BENIN — ABDUCTION of persons by suspected kidnappers has taken a new worrisome dimension in Edo State following the kidnapping on Wednesday morning of five Lagos-bound passengers by gunmen on the Lagos-Benin road near Ogbemudia farms.

Vanguard gathered that the passengers were among occupants of a Greener Line space wagon Siena bus travelling from Warri, DeltaState to Lagos when they ran into a barricade along the Benin-Ore- Sagamu-Lagos road.

The suspected kidnappers were said to have blocked the highway with a truck, and the bus driver on sighting the barricade, slowed down.

Soon after, some gun-totting men were said to have emerged from the bush and took the passengers hostage after allowing the driver and one passenger to go and give information about the incident.

It was further learnt that one of the victims who lives in Lagos, was said to be returning to the state after a naming ceremony of his new-born baby in Warri when he was abducted along with other passengers.

The father of the victim, a retired army colonel, told Vanguard that the kidnappers had made contact and demanded N3 million ransom to set his son free, even as he pleaded with them to release his son unhurt, saying that it was difficult for the family to raise the amount they demanded.

When contacted, Edo State Police Command Acting Public Relations Officer, Awhara Ejiroro, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.

When ℓ̊ look back on how it all went down, and how ♍e and M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ elder brother were abducted, and how it all ended ℓ̊ give God the Glory. M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ elder brother was on his way to Benin from Lagos on Sunday when he had an accident b4 Ore. S̶̲̥̅Ơ̴̴̴̴̴̴͡, on Monday we went to Ore to recover the car.
We were driving slow, he was in front while ℓ̊ was driving in M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ car behind him.
Few minutes after Okada, a gang of 3 armed Robbers blocked the way and we were forced to stop.
They marched us into the Forest, walking for close to one hour. On getting to their camp in forest, we met about four Victims lying down already. The Robbers/ kidnerpers are a group of 4 young Boys, non more than 30yrs of age. And they had 3 Cut to size, Locally made Guns. At a point they took M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ BB fone, and where asking ♍e questions. Please note that this is an abridged version of the story. At a point, they asked ♍e and M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ Bro, to lie face down, and they used a wrapper to cover us. At this point ℓ̊ noticed they were taking the other 4 victims away, Leaving 2 of their members with us.
ℓ̊ told M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ Brother, speaking in M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ dielect that we hv to Run away, that ℓ̊ can't be here, until after M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ wedding. He adviced that we shld wait until it was dark. We were actualy abducted at about 5pm.
U̶̲̥̅ can imagine what M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ wife to be was going thru when she lost contact with ♍e, because all the while we were constantly talking on the fone.
Luckily for us, they decided to move us to another place. Now only one of the 2 kidnerpers had a gun. When we got to a graded Road in the forest, a pipeline passes thru there, that's why ℓ̊ believe it was graded, the one with a Gun, walked to the middle of the road to view, if anybody was around before they will cross us to the other side of the road. That was when we made our move. Will continue shortly.

Continues..
B4 we left, they gave M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ brother and i a bag each to carry, S̶̲̥̅Ơ̴̴̴̴̴̴͡ as we were standing with one of the Robbers not carrying a Gun, remember the one with a gun, was a few feet away from us, satnding in the middle of the graded road. S̶̲̥̅Ơ̴̴̴̴̴̴͡ ℓ̊ told M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ brother in our dielect that this is it. Its time, that if ℓ̊ run to the other side, he shld run in opposite direction. ℓ̊ used the Bag ℓ̊ was holding and ℓ̊ hit, the guy standing with us and ℓ̊ took off. Ran for hours in the forest, avoiding any Trail. At a point ℓ̊ completly, lost track and bearing. Was supposed to be heading for the expressway. Note that, at this point ℓ̊ didn't know if M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ Brother also ran or what has happened to him.
In the forest, ℓ̊ met a lunatic, who ℓ̊ begged to show ♍e the way to a village, that was another long walk, for close to 2 hours he was just taking ♍e from one point to the other. ℓ̊ had no choice but  stick with him.
At a point we met a Fulani man, luckily for ♍e, ℓ̊ speak housa. ℓ̊ started begging and explaining to him what happened. Told him to take ♍e to their camp, which he refused. Long story short, he showed ♍e bush part that lead to village. Got to the village, met the vigilante group, that almost shot ♍e.
But thank God, was able to make calls. And ℓ̊ was rescued the next day.

OP, what about your brother? Did he eventually escape successfully? I find it hard to believe that these beasts have resorted to kidnapping random travellers. Lord.

tyson55: Op, did your brother made it out of the forest safe? Just a lil bit curious.
Yes he did, when ℓ̊ made calls from the village, ℓ̊ was told he had already made it out and made contact. When ℓ̊ saw him the next morning, he told ♍e how he escaped.
Said immediatly ℓ̊ ran, the guy with the gun ran to him, and asked him  sit on the floor, or he will shoot him. He sat on the ground, the guy with the gun, now asked his gang member to watch, M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ brother,.he now started chasing ♍e. S̶̲̥̅Ơ̴̴̴̴̴̴͡ M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ brother was left with the guy without a gun, to watch him.he said he just stood up and walked into the bush, and started Running. Looking at all this happenings, U̶̲̥̅ all might call the Bandits Stupid, but ℓ̊ will say its the Handwork of God.
If not, they could have decided to shoot M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ brother, or could have cut their losses, by sticking with him. But No, the guy with the Gun, Ran after ♍e, and left M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ Brother with his unarmed compatriot. S̶̲̥̅Ơ̴̴̴̴̴̴͡ M̶̲̥̅γ̲̣̣̥ brother said he made it to the express road, walked some distance, b4 he met a police check point. They now took him to Okada Police station.

That was one hell of an escape, that both of you made it safe and alive from the den of kidnappers, it can only be God's doing. May God continue to protect his children.

It should be possible to track the money if the victims are serious about seeing justice done.

Nawa oh, Lucky you, you must thank God oh, you guyz where smart and you also had a lot of luck on your side, has Nigerian police even tried to find the hide out of those people, that gang will start growing and breeding all kind of bad ideas, God help this nation, our police has no clue how to go after criminals they would not even try to investigate the case and locate those boyz believe u me if easy to track those boys down because they are mot likely from that community.
