Nigeria Army Wednesday
said it found hoard of arms
which were hidden
underground at a house in
Kaduna. Addressing
newsmen in Kaduna,
Commander, Internal
Security Force of 1
Division, Nigerian Army,
Brig. Gen. Tagbo Ude said
that numerous other
weapons and explosives
were recovered following a
raid by the army on
Tuesday evening on an
account of intelligence
report it got.
Speaking further, Ude said nine
people including two men, two
women and five children were
apprehended at the house
belonging to one Honourable
Hussein Dei Dei, a CPC
Lawmaker from Kaduna state
and grassroots organizer of the
proposed merged party, the All
Progressive Congress (APC).
The army said that the house
where the arms were hidden
was located along Sabon Birni
road, Kawo new Extension
near a Dalet military barrack in
Kaduna.
Items recovered include 1,098
rounds of various
ammunitions, six AK 47 rifles,
125 pieces of detonators, one
light machine gun and one tear
gas launcher. Also recovered
were one FN rifle magazine,
five sub-machine gun
magazines, four pistols, one
loaded light-machine gun
magazine, and two reels of
detonating cords.
Others are 10 prepared
improvised explosive devices,
nine-volt batteries, three bags
of white chemical substance,
five pieces of remote control
switches, one reel of firing
cable and six car number
plates.
“As a matter of fact, the
explosive contents can bring
down the whole of this
headquarters (1 Division head
quarters). Our normal process
of demolishing the house is in
progress. We are taking our
time because we want to make
sure that the general area is
safe before we demolish it,”
Ude said
