My latest naija project is almost done. Please review the home page (I haven't linked it yet, pending client approval).

Check out: http://www.eburutu.org/test.html and tell me what you think. By the way, you may criticize any part of the page other than the nav section: It is 100% CSS - no images whatsoever LOL

I look forward to your comments/suggestions.

Thanks

Nice restructuring -- definitely better than what was there before wink.

I don't know if you'd mind me making a suggestion or two:
[li]Do you think it'd be better if the bottom links hve a different color from the ones in the main text?[/li]
[li]If you placed a top border above your footer and used different formatting [maybe making it smaller] it would be easier to distinguish from the body of the page[/li]
[li]Putting your e-mail in the text makes it easier for spam-crawlers to add you [except it's a spam-only address[/li]
I hope I'm not sounding antagonistic?

LOL,

I actually liked your constructive criticism Zahy smiley

It seems that for the most part, you and prodgalson are on the same page. He gave me his suggestions earlier and even mocked up the corrections for me. I will be implementing those friday and should have it done by 5p.

As for the email address, I was thinking the same thing. I have decided to yank that out and in its place, link my name to my online resume.

Thanks for the pointers. They have been duly noted and shall definitely be implemented.

honestly. i have been looking for what to critisize but found none, darn.!
I even ran it through 6 online XML/CSS/Html validators just to crack at least one line of errorneuos code (gave up)

Online validators http://www.oasis-open.org/cover/check-xml.html

Finally, i found one, that leaked a few warnings

http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.eburutu.org%2Ftest.html&usermedium=all

Brilliant job,

I especially like the idea of linking to your resume for website crawlers to chew,

lagerwhenindoubt LOL,

It seems you were bent, like the proverbial professor, on finding a reason not to give me 100% LOL

In university, one of my professors said that by the time we finished his class, he wanted us to be "paranoid dellusional, anal retentive programmers". I thought of course he was joking, but that is what I am. When you couple that with the fact that I have been critiquing others' sites here, I figure why not practice what I preach? wink

Hopefully with this job under my belt, I would have put one foot in the naija web dev door. I need to help out over there - the place is a virtual virgin, as far as putting out pages that conform to standards. Now that we are good at putting up pages, we need to focus on putting up efficient pages - well architected, accessible, standards conforming, and lightweight. I look forward to working with my brothers across the pond smiley

I will ignore the warnings, at least for now, as those are more semantics, than anything else. Once I am done with the actual site, I may go back to those.

Once again, thanks for your reviews. Much appreciated.

hi my2cents did u pull it down? i followed the link and got a 404. what is the problem i loved the way u critisize emekaifez.com before it was hijacked, (its now www.emekaifez.net and its not porn). i thought i should see one of ur work, probably learn from the masters. give some more links to other of ur work. i would love to see them.
Re: Website Review by my2cents(m): 4:05pm On May 19, 2006
Sorry phantomcat (and to others):

In order to maintain the same architecture when the site goes live, I decided to move it to another folder. I have also added more content, so you and others get to c the site in its entirety first hand. Some links are still dummy links though, so beware wink

http://www.eburutu.org/work/index.html . Let me know what you think. As for me being a master, I no sabi about dat one o grin

I will also check out that updated emekaifez site and provide insight.

phantomcat:

The emeka site, I have seen before. I don't know if you took the pointers I gave out last time. The left, I see, is now text which is good. You have flash in the header. If you are concerned about search engines crawling ur site, bad idea. They read from top to bottom, so you may want to take it out and use CSS menus instead. The site still loads in 18 secs on a 56K modem. Bad, unless you are sure the site will be viewed only by pple using a certain speed. The background image you have on the site cd b implemented via CSS and put in the CSS file. That way, you take out some weight from the page.

Check out the site I sent out. Only 3 images and they are all CSS background images. Try that. You will be impressed.

Let me know if you need any help. I will be happy to offer smiley

Masters dont say they are masters. i checked it out its cool, i will try the css image thing. and try reducing the flash on my site. sometimes its hard walkin the thin line between beauty and effectiveness. thanks Bro
