King of fuji music, Adewale Ayuba has described artistes like D’banj and Davido as fuji artistes too and not hip hop.,

He spoke with entertainment magazine;, Global Excellence, the saying:

‘If you are conversant with the happenstances in Nigerian entertainment industry, you will find out that all my brothers that claim they are doing hiphop like D’banj, Davido and the rest are all fuji singers. When you listen to the way they sing, you can see that the voice is fuji’.

‘The beat they put behind it is what changes it to hip hop and R&B. What they are doing here is ‘tungba’ because immediately you press play, you start dancing all the way’

@ayatola don't get my laughter wrong, I hv always said it to myself that most of this our nigerian musician no nothing about music, fuji music is miles better than the lack of rhythm noise they make sef. The confirmation by Ayuba is an attestation of my point of view, that is wht is funny to me.

I ll call D'banj's music Afro-hiphop. Songs like Fall In Love & Pere are pure Fuji music.
