shut up@ OP, the guy didint hack anything, he simply used a bulk sms website to send the text. I just tried it now. He simply got the Governor's number (luckily) and went to a bulk sms site and used the Governor number as the sender name to send the text. The VC just f fell for a scam.

successking: Thorough investigated is expected here to determine the authenticity of this story, just to avoid mistakes before landing the sledge hammer on the culprit, to serve as a deterrent to others who have chosen the path of corruption at early stage of life.

Come, you this fellow. You quoted the entire article just to add a mere two lines of text? WTF is wrong with some folks on here?!

Some of you ain't even thinking at all.

Spoofed Messages, He used some bulk sms site to send the message. . .blah blah.

Did you read this part?

igbsam:

Thinking that the text message was actually from the governor, as it came from the number with which he saved the governor’s name, Uduaghan 1 in his phone, Prof Arubayi replied, asking for the student’s name to which the hacker replied: “His name is Imala W. Kelly. My able VC, all I want is the boy to pass. Chief Tony Anenih has been calling.”

How did he receive a reply and know what to send back? You all need to take a close look at this and not post randomly.

This is well beyond a mere custom sender id sms from some online platform.

You be more imaginative. The sensible thing is follow up on a previous message with more details even if you haven't received a response. That's all that is to it. He didn't respond to the VC's message; he merely followed up on his previous message. The VC may have thought he responded to him; it's nothing but blind follow-up.

What do they have to hold him? absolutely nothing. He should be freed in my own opinion.

This is not a Bulk SMS, have you ever heard of anything called Cloning Of SIM? The way ATM Card is being Cloned! Either the guy cloned the sim or the reply must have been sent from governor's phone maybe he is associated with the Personal Assistant who holds the Governor's phone! Bulk sms don't and will not receive a reply!

meipsum1: May be you should read the post again very well. What of the part where the VC replied the message by asking for the candidate's name and instead of that message to go directly to the governor's phone, the boy received the message and responded accordingly. Atleast, when the VC replied to message he got, uduaghan should have received the message not the boy, but the boy received it instead of uduaghan. WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT THAT?

EXACTLY.

The phone was hacked, the guy directed the text message to his.

It's amazing how little understanding people have about technology

This kind of thing is so "2003ish"

It is faaaaar from being a hack

First it is from a bulk SMS site and like others rightly pointed out the VC must have "replied" to the same message received. You can send and receive SMS from bulk SMS platform depending on the technology you have in place . I have pranked friends with this as far back as 2004/5 and these is what an "iD.iot" out there can achieve

To detect the fraud the user only needs to check the message center associated with the text ID once it doesn't start with "234" you know straight away that it was from a bulk messaging service
