85% of Nigeria's oil is not controlled by the North! 100% of Nigerian oil is controlled by the federal government of Nigeria with a man from the South as the current helmsman! States in the South-South or oil-producing States as they are called, get the lion share of resources derived by the federal government from the sale of Nigerian oil!

Bayelsa State gets one of the highest share of these funds from "our oyel" and is still one of the least developed States in Nigeria. Would you blame the Northerners for that too?

What is this one talking about? . Am talking of oil block licenses and you are here blabbing.

I thought we practised Federalism. Nigeria can only exist as a country if we practiced Federalism. Nigeria's foundation was on the premise of federalism and that is what can restore peace. That was the agreement between the founding fathers.

I believe states and regions should control 60% of their resources and send only 40% to the Federal government. It will force each region to become hard working and not depend on Oil money. You can imagine this man who has done nothing to develop his own state laying claim to Niger Delta Oil. Just sad.

Naa 40% wetin? The states should control 90% and give only 10% to the federal government every body should answer im papa's name. Those states or region that doesn't produce much, by the time hunger nack dem they'll sit tight.

It's confusing how you people are constantly saying "let us return home to Biafra", but your migratory pattern says otherwise i.e. the Luxurious buses are always full when travelling West, South and North, but barely full when travelling east. Do you actually/sincerely believe it when you say it, or is it just a calculation to gain political leverage? I'm just trying to understand?

mobuch:

I see blood, blood, blood everywhere.
Pls my fellow Biafrans, let us return home to Biafra. The center is about to be torn apart.

It is unfortunate Nigerians tend to debate issues based on ridiculous assumptions. Nigeria is practicing unitary government. So it is baseless talking about federalism when issue about Nigerian government shows up for discussion.

In addition, Niger Delta is an inconsequential geographical expression and does not hold any water in intellectual debate. Crude oil struck in Nigeria belongs to the government at the center period. There is no amount of idiotic noise that will change the picture very soon.

I actually think 25% should go to the Federal Government while the remaining 75% to the state/region. This is fair. After all, the Federal institutions are bunch of useless buildings full of useless people doing useless things.

I am actually supporting the scrapping of Nigeria.

My brother, we dey for 2013, why you dey sound like Ojukwu in 1966

Bayelsa as we speak is being turned to Abuja of sort! Can you see tha gej has moved Julius Berger and other big companies to bayelsa? This southerners have only one thing in their minds irrespective of the status or political positions: Hatred for us.

But when northerners were at the helm of affairs in this country, their people are part and parcel of the various administrations in power and we helped them in various ways, even against our interest. See how unpatriotic they are and biased even against the Yoruba people. Just go through what the igbos are saying against the most respected Yoruba leader - Awolowo.

He said, “We in the north believe that the oil in Bayelsa or Delta belong to us in Jigawa or any other state in the north. We shall therefore do anything humanly possible to defend that our oil in Bayelsa or anywhere else in this country.

“As long as we remain as Nigerians, we shall stake claim to the oil resources just as other Nigerians are benefitting from the mineral resources found in Jigawa or Sokoto State.

Instead of the man to call upon his fellow northerners and find ways to tap into the resources thar are resident in the north, he is busy shouting "our oil". Many of our so called leaders on this nation are just lazy intellectually and lack vision. What stops them from turning the same northern Nigeria into the mining hub of Nigeria? Lazy set of people, fighting for their own selfish interests; why not carry your bucket go Bayelsa go fetch your oil?
