I thought that the idea behind innovation is to make something better. Sorry, I have tasted this Cassava bread and just dont like it! Cassava is good as Garri and will rather soak garri than eat cassava in bread! I dont see tis going far. Not in Nigeria. May be Tanzania.

Where in Nigeria is cassava bread?
On March 11, 2013 · In Sobowale On Business 12:10 am

“We don’t have enough cassava to make…….

Even a fool, in Nigeria, now knows that the last thing anyone should believe is anything announced by the Federal Government of Nigeria, its Ministers, agencies and especially the President’s Special Advisers on Media and Publicity. When Abati or Okupe appear on television, people switch to other channels.

Nothing good can come out of listening to deliberate falsehood.

One Minister, whose pronouncements have almost driven me up a wall is the Federal Minister of Agriculture – Dr Adewunmi. His pronouncements about our agricultural productivity, last year, is similar to that of those who told us that a woman, who was kept alive by machines and artificial oxygen, was dancing the night away in Dubai. Adewunmi, as we know, is a great champion of cassava bread.

Almost two years ago, he persuaded the President, who can be persuaded by anybody speaking excellent English; especially in borrowed accents, that substitution of cassava for wheat, for bread baking, within two years, was a feasible venture.

The gospel of cassava bread, as preached by Dr Adewunmi was, in actual fact, good and original. Unfortunately for Nigerians, starting with President Jonathan, the part that was good was not original; and the part that was original was not good (to paraphrase Dr Samuel Johnson, 1709-1784, English lexicographer).

IBB’s government had the patent for introducing cassava bread to Nigeria and the Federal Institute of Industrial Research at Oshodi, FIIRO, was the technical partner at the time

If eaten fresh it's ok but gets dry, hard and sour quickly. If actually exported...I strongly believe it would leave Nigeria as cassava bread and arrive in Tanzania as cassava bricks.

Because the dullard only recycled an already institutionalized idea. We need better vision and idea to move us forward, nit going back to pick up old ideas that others have worked on and still working on including even the IITA.

We know the dullard and his advisers are short of ideas, but no need to keep recycling other peoples ideas and stealing glories..

As the President of Nigeria between 1999 and 2007, Obasanjo promoted a 10 percent cassava inclusion policy in wheat bread in an effort to promote agricultural growth and diversify the economy.

The policy, backed by improved agricultural practices from IITA and national partners, increased cassava production in Nigeria by 10 million tons within 6 years, making Nigeria the world’s top producer of cassava.

GEJ has zero original ideas and visions. Even cassava bread so far his best vision for Nigeria wasn't his original idea..smh

While the Aso Rock dullard was stealing the cassava bread policy, OBJ the man that formulated the policy and initiative was and is still busy promoting and selling the initiate all over the world...

Much as we are developing the cassava bread initiatives which is worth commendable. I also want us to think like the Israelis who turned their dessert country into an agriculturally viable land.

We should developed an Israeli-model type of technology where by we can grows fruits and other crops all year round.

We should also grow wheat for bread making, apple and some foreign crops that does not traditionally survive our tropical weather situation.

Federal Government of Nigeria should support the initiative of former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on the cassava bread revolution.

Cassava is our own God given wheat we must develop it.

It is really disturbing to see Nigeria as a Nation importing rice from Thailand, Malaysia etc when we have the riverine environment for rice cultivation in abundance.

Rubbish!
As a military ruler Obasanjo used $2bn from the nations coffers to start his Ota farm in 1979 when he handed over power to Shagari
He came again and looted at least $120bn and institutionalised corruption we are experiencing till today.

Dozens on high profile individuals we politically assassinated (one wonders how many more unreported assassinations occured.

Gave away oil-rich land in Bakassi to Cameroon without a referendum (in a deal that probably further lined his pockets).

Devalued Naira by 500% and increased fuel prices 5 fold

Liquidated our national airline Nigeria Airways and making thousands jobless.

Pension scam started during his rule.

He closed/liquidated banks that he borrowed money from so he could steal their money.

Ohh , How about the massacres he ordered in Odi and in Benue state?

Thief Obasanjo was an unmitigated disaster.
He is kleptomaniacal animal that has no shame.

Our democracy has never worked because Obasanjo was involved in setting them up and the elections both in 1979 and from 1999 to 2007

Thief Obasanjo I hail you angry

All this yet he his never once condemned by the Western nations.

The US and UK seem to only criticise and sponsor overthrow of pro-Nigeria leaders such as Buhari and Abacha

But how are you reasoning sef? Obasanjo does not intend to export cassava bread. He toook some samples of the bread there so they could taste it and so be encouraged on the use of cassava flour in that country. If other Nigerian leaders are promoting Nigeria this way things would not be this way.
