lobito 007: Attention Entomologists: Why Do Mosquitoes Buzz Around Human Ears?

This baffles me as much as it annoys me. They seem to never leave until you wave your hands @ 'em, which suggests that they are not just passing by, but deliberately buzzing around your ears. Is it because they derive pleasure doing it or they just want to make their host increasingly uncomfortable after sucking their blood?

The simple reason why mosquitoes do that is the favourable and adequate carbon di oxide concentration around the ear region. More often than not they tend to 'buzz' around their because the peripherally positioned Carbon-di-oxide seem more enjoyable than that closer to the nostrils putting proximity and concentration as factors.

It is not carbon dioxide(gas), it is carbon. The ear is darker due to higher concentration of carbon and not carbon dioxide.

Its not a intentional/deliberate action. Their wings make the noise and so when they fly to the head region, you just hear it. Why will the mosquito want to wake you up and stop eat it from enjoying its meal. If it had its way, it would stop the wings from making such harmful noise.
