Job Summary


•Oversee the management and maintenance of company’s installations, plants and outlets to ensure optimalutilisationand maximum contribution to corporate goals.
•Coordinate research and development initiatives to promote real-time innovation, design, refinement and upgrade of company's products to meet market realities and the ever dynamic customer taste and needs.


•Participate actively in the articulation and development of operational plans, strategies and programs for the division.
•Recommend specific strategies for the Engineering function covering research & development, capital projects and maintenance in alignment with the overall divisional goals.
•Take ownership for communicating agreed operational plans and programs to subordinates ensuring mutual understanding of roles, responsibilities and accountabilities.
•Oversee the implementation of the approved departmental strategy and operational plans and programs.
•Oversee the organisation’s research and development function and ensure adequate provision of tools, equipment and enabling environment to facilitate design and development of innovative new products, and enhancement of production processes.
•Establish organisation-wide engineering standards in line with industry regulations and ensure compliance with defined standards.
•Monitor operational status of all company machinery, equipment and infrastructure and ensure optimal running in line with business requirements.
•Liaise with supply and distribution and provide technical input into the procurement of materials/equipment to ensure maximum value is obtained by the company.
•Direct and oversee maintenance activities (turn-around, preventive, routine etc.) to ensure consistent availability, reliability and efficient operation of company equipment and infrastructure within requirements and agreed costs.
•Provide broad guidelines for supervising the work of third party service providers to ensure quality service delivery, compliance with technical specifications and adherence to contractual terms and conditions.
•Approve engineering drawings and designs and provide technical input to ensure delivery of high quality, cost-effective outputs on all capital projects and initiatives.
•Stay abreast of latest thinking, innovations and trends; identify, and recommend leverage opportunities to the GCEO
•Court and manage relationships and strategic partnerships with key technical partners, regulators, vendors and other third parties.
•Periodically review departmental policies, procedures and processes and recommend improvement opportunities to the GCEO
•Champion the implementation of approved policy amendments.
•Oversee the preparation of the department’s annual budget and monitor its implementation.
•Review and authorise key expenditures/transactions of the department in line with the budget and organisation’s manual of authority.
•Coordinate, direct and supervise the day-to-day activities of the department and ensure alignment with the overall goals and objectives of the division and the company as a whole.
•Motivate, guide and ensure knowledge transfer and capacity building of subordinates.
•Assign responsibilities to subordinates and monitor them to ensure timely delivery of high quality results.
•Prepare and submit periodic activity/management reports to the GCEOon the activities of the department.
•Perform other tasks/serve in other roles as required by the GCEO


•In-depth knowledge and understanding of the downstream oil and gas sector and the impact of engineering practices on operational and business processes.
•In-depth knowledge of trends, innovation and advances in engineering applications including project management and engineering economics.
•Significant exposure to research and development concepts, methodologies and approaches.
•Excellent appreciation of health, safety and environment principles.
•Ability to think strategically and holistically and to appreciate the systemic impact of various policies, issues and solutions.
•Good and holistic understanding of the business operations, inter-relationships and dependencies.
•Excellent leadership/supervisory and people management skills.

•Second class degree or its equivalent in an Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Civil) /Technical discipline or related field.
•Relevant post-graduate/professional qualification.
•Preferably a COREN registered engineer.
•Twelve (12) years relevant experience, of which at least five (5) must have been at a strategic management level in downstream engineering operations. Please applicanta with salary of 8 million per anum need not apply.
