How NAPS And NANS Can Save This On-going Strike Come 27th May by OgeneDom(m): 5:59am On May 24, 2013
As Children’s Day celebration is coming up in earnest, the democracy day celebration is not left behind. Without doubt, the President of Nigeria is preparing his democracy day speech, if not yet completed with the usual “dead” promises. I suggest the presidents of National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) in conjunction with National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) should prepare their own speeches for children’s/youth day celebration.
This is how it should go:
The two associations should call for press conference at 8.00am on 27th May. The presidents should prepare their own speeches for presentation as follows –
NANS: Thank Stakeholders in education sector.
Appreciate the federal government effort to make education the best and remind them there are still rooms for improvement.
Make their recommendations not forgetting frequent strike in higher education.
NAPS: Cry-out bitterly how the press and the stakeholders in education sector have kept silent over the on-going strike in Nigerian Polytechnics across the country.
Blame the federal government in failing in their promises to make Nigeria education the best in Africa pointing out their lapses.
Highlight the dangers of keeping students/youths at home considering the security challenges facing Nigeria at the moment.
Beg FG to give fair consideration to ASUP requests and also beg ASUP to reconsider their stand on the strike action as they press home their demands.
Finally, wish the nation the best as they celebrate children/youth day and wish the president happy democracy day celebration in advance.
Who knows, this might contribute a lot in the president’s speech on the 29th of May and equally facilitate the negotiation between FG and ASUP.

Please, make your recommendations towards achieving this proposal. You can also add more points for the speeches. Anyone who has these presidents’ contacts can call their attention to this.
I wish them Good luck

Thanks.
