For me personally, I won't judge merit based on entrance examination score, ssce score and even jamb score, I will only judge merit based on the academic report card from your school. A lot of money exchange hands before and during these exams and exam malpractices is is shocked shocked shocked shocked, I can't say more, check this thread for some stories

you are wrong bro, the examination cut-off marks shows that some people are favoured in this country even though is glaring clear that such people were never on merit in the first place.

This is indeed laughable! can't believe what i just read! Yobe has cut off of 2? In case some of you don't know, majority of the northern unity schools admit students whether you wrote NCE or not! I can attest to that. NCE is irrelevant in almost all unity schools in the north. it's the people of the east and west that takes it seriously. smh

So wat exactly did d northerners achieve with 38 yrs??
In Benue, if u agree to read medicine in d univ, u receive 100k per yr wherever u are.
If An eastern governor promises that, d state will be looted dry of funds.

Kudos to kwarans. Y den no go go school wen be say na Yoruba state dem be.
I can only SMH for almost all d other states in d north, chaiiiiii, imagine, 2, 4, 9, 34 or 60 as cut off mark. Chaiiiiiii, oma se ooooo. North shld wake up abeg.

lets think deeply for a moment:

how come states like benue, kogi and kwara rcv high cutoff than more populouse state like kano and kaduna?

what if it is federal alocations that is up to grap?
will the core north ever blv that kano and kaduna will rcv lesser than kogi kwara and benue?

food for thought. cutoff mark is a scam we need to stand against it.

Are those cut off marks below 100 for real Haba..Imagine 2, 4, 9 e.t.c being allowed and why ask them to take such exams cos its just a waste of resources. They should have been given free admission.

Op are u sure u got this right

High cut-off mark isn't enough hypothesis to justify that some Southern States are better than other Southern States. A lot of 'miracles' happen at some of these exam centres, both at JAMB and common entrance. And yes...this is just a sampled population, it doesn't justify na-da. But why is Bayelsa State having a low cut-off mark like this?

since a lot of miracles happen can we put everyone on equal cut off? Just saying..

Unity Schools should not mean mediocre schools. The unity schools should be graded (categorized) so that the best from each zone (not necessarily state) will meet at a higher category. Kwara and Benue are doing quite okay, better than or at same level as some southern states. So why not Kwara and Benue students meet with the best from the south, while students from Ebonyi, Ekiti, Bayelsa and Cross River who are doing poorly meet with the poor students from the North at a lower category? That way, the bright students are not dragged back while the challenged students are not overstressed.

Yobe seems to be improving. Their cut off for last year was '0' and that has increased to '2' this year. With more encouragement, they might hit '5' next year.

It means if a certain Emeka from Imo that was born and schooled in Yobe sat for the exam and score 136 (the highest in Yobe) he would not be admitted while Ahmadu with a score of 2 and Aminat with 3 marks, who both were taught by the same teachers with same curriculum as Emeka gain admission on merit.
Something is wrong with that system
