abivic: I have a mature friend of 30+ years of age who has never been to university before but has been searching for an affordable oversea admission for quite sometimes now. He has only his WAEC result. What is the possibility of him getting admission abroad without his age being a barrier? If possible, what are the requirements? Anyone with similar experience? No abusive or provocative post please. Thanks.

Sorry
But as 30 yr old with only WAEC you face an up hill struggle to gain admission.
Even if admission is given there is likely to be extra tuition to be done and paid for, incresing costs and time.

At 30 yrs do you not think it would be better to invest in buisness rather than going back into education?
Even if you get degree it does not automaticaly lead to better job!

When has age become a barrier in seeking education and knowledge? If education is costly, try ignorance. No place in the world where you will be denied opportunity to educate yourself because of age barrier as far as he or she is a genuine student. Don't be discouraged, you can make it if you want to. So far you have the requiremments and what it takes.

Sorry you are wrong
There are many places that are suspicious of taking older Nigerian students.
The older people have a poor reputation for getting school visa and then dissapearing to work.

Also AS I SAID with such a long gap in education there will probably be extra courses to take and pay for.

No school can deny you admission on the basis of this. Though it could be a red flag at the embassy; but if you have the financial capacity involved and you can proof that during the interview, then I don't see any reason why he can't scale the hurdle . Unless if he is not sound or at normal level academically. Those people (vo) are human too.

30+ yes..... He will be taken in as a mature student depending on what program he is going in for! Since he has a waec I presume he will be going in for an undergaduate degree(level cool in ireland. Most schools allows that. But enuf reason must be stated (outlined) why the gap. I'd est what ur friend was doing since all dis yle.. If job(work) let him state it .if into fulltme ministry(church) let him state it. Age is no barrier bro

All accredited schools in ireland gives u the opportunity of getting a good job after graduating. it all depends on ur performance. id est wen you come out well and also ur star too(i know ur star will shine in Jesus name) Just believe, carry on and God will see u through. its all about completing ur program(u be on the third level graduate scheme) then by this getting ur green card or work permit...

I have admission for postgraduate study in Australia(can't afford the fees) and Ireland (National College of Ireland- MSc Fintech and DBS- MSc Int'l Accounting & Finance) for January start.
I would want to know how cool Ireland is for study and work (I intend to stay back), the prospects of getting a job, if their certificates (awarded by QQI) are accepted in Australia(i intend to move after a while) and childcare.
P.s i will be going with my 1 and a half year old son.
Before you guys suggest research and writing to the schools- I have done all that. I just want other peoples experiences and opinions.
Thanks
