I feel so bad for the people who have to live in fear and trauma everyday,fear of war and trauma of lost relatives... especially the people in Gaza. that is the inspiration for the poem below. THE GAZA BOY
The door burst opened
My heart tightened
That’s a gun he holds
Entering into the women’s folds
From behind the thick curtains
I watched with breath curtailed
Abba dragged out by the collar
His strength can handle any colour
But five to one he had no chance
Bullets permeating his head caused a trance
He rolled and writhed into the fireplace
As mother hastened her pace
Its me she seeks, this I know
The long nosed soldier has seen her show
Her black abaya failed to hide
And to her back he forces her to lay
I watched as he exposed Ahmed’s food
The milk rushed out as he pressed
Ummi’s chest constricted with fear
And exposed her below
But Mama said its private
None shoulda beheld it
He lay atop my Ummi
Oh how she wailed and writhed
Run my child! Was all she cried
With arms flailing into the street,
To the deafening sound from the skies
A different rain has come today
A hot rain indeed of metal pelts
Limiting me to this chair of wheels
A Gaza boy without a will!
