kalunomics: If only you are savant enough to comprehend my post... and a mofo already liked the thrash you spewd? God help this country! Mr. Smart Guy, a thread was open to discuss an illegal and unconstitutional action, and all you can talk about is ACN/APC and food. How do you want me to comprehend that fatuous nonsense? Talking about an illegal act makes everybody a member of the opposition? Another advise, don't let your kids see what you just wrote. "God help this country" 2 Likes |

Okija_juju: You need to go back and peruse this news painstakingly 'cause twas boldly stated that she carried the seal bearing the nation’s coat of arms and the national colours along with her! 1 Like |

dplomaticVal: This is technically a matter of jurisprudence.. That article is laced with malice and any discerning mind can see it from the tone of the writer. Her podium carries a symbol, the Nigerian coat of arms which one is constitutionally required to obtain a licence to use. Wether she has indeed obtained one is yet to be as retained by any of us including the writer. You can choose to exercise your right under the Freedom of Information act of 2011 and demand this information from the authorities. Now the matter of it being a 'seal' is also debatable. Hers just says 'the First Lady, Federal republic of Nigeria', which she indeed is at the moment. Now maybe under article 6, section B that talks about the use of the coat of arms, if the licence given to her by the minister (assuming she has one) allows for her to use it in such a manner, the I'm sorry she has no case to answer.. It's only a crime when; 1. She does not have any licence to use the coat of arms. 2. She has a licence, but it does not allow for it to be used in such a manner as she has.. Until this is confirmed, I suggest we adjourn this matter and await further evidence.. 2 Likes |

The first lady is going beyond her limitation as a first lady.she need to be caution so that she will realize that she is wife of president not president. And she should try to respect nigeria constitution. |
Re: Patience Jonathan On An Illegal Podium - Guardian Editorial by Nobody: 5:03pm On Jun 24, 2013 |
Okija_juju: Please read paragraph 6 again, the First Lady or any Nigerian at that does not require a license from the Minister to use the Coat of Arm as long as it is used lawfully except in certain citcumstances. Note the conjunction 'or'. |
Re: Patience Jonathan On An Illegal Podium - Guardian Editorial by gulfer: 6:59pm On Jun 24, 2013 |
J12: On another note. What are the laws guiding the use of the Nigerian coat of arms? Is it illegal for an ordinary citizen to use the national symbol on a personal capacity? Did patience Jonathan commit a crime? You J̲̥̅̊u̶̲̥̅̊s̶̲̥̅̊t̲̥̅̊ wake up? |
Re: Patience Jonathan On An Illegal Podium - Guardian Editorial by Okijajuju1(m): 7:20pm On Jun 24, 2013 |
percipi1: Basically, that law says anybody that uses it contrary to the agreed terms of the licence. Now.. What are the trems of the licence given to Dame for the use of the Coat of Arms, assuming she has obtained one from the relevant authorities 1 Like |

Okija_juju: This is why I deliberately used the word 'counterfeit'in my earlier post. The question here is; why would anyone embellish the coat of arms in two concentric circles to give the appearance of a seal, if the plan is not to project a more powerful image subliminally? @ballabriggs actually picked out an event from the same article that could easily be construed as an abuse of power, which so many posters failed to notice. On another occasion, she sent the Minister of Water Resources, Mrs. Serah Ochekpe, to represent her at a book launch in honour of President Olusegun Obasanjo at the latter’s Presidential Library in Abeokuta. On a lighter note, what do folks make of this guy's expression of patriotism? "Nice Tattoo there, it look so nice but before you say it's photoshopped, i'll advice you to look closely.... It's real and definitely not photoshopped. Madness or a Patriotic Nigerian?" - Source

Okija_juju: Section 6 provides that “Any person who, otherwise than in conformity with the terms of a licence granted by the Minister or under other lawful authority, uses or displays¬” Going by the above section, we can safely assume that Patience Goodluck assumes the use of the Coat of Arm on the authority of the President which falls under “ other lawful authority” Therefore, she does not need to apply for a Minister’s licence. I think this should settle the controversy. The First lady, I regret to say, is perfectly in order |

percipi1:if the first lady is in order,I guess the president is out of order for giving her the authority to use a "counterfeit"seal, state Governors wives must not be allowed to do same, what the are doing is belittling their spouses offices. |

Drop the pretext and stop using a counterfeit seal, simple! “We may as well insist that America must separate Michelle Obama from riding on Air Force One, because her office is unconstitutional! It is our view that the First Lady’s office derives from the Presidency, and has responsibilities to discharge, whether ceremonial or official, to smoothen the operations of the President and the Presidency. ^^^Since the first ladyship has vowed to continue riding roughshod over the sensibilities of Nigerians, e-warriors have also resolved to document all her inanities, for future studies. |

J12: You folks should let this woman be for Christ's sake. So what if the office of the first lady is unconstitutional and she uses the nigerian coat of arms as an emblem? Does it change anything? No it doesn't. block head, guess you don't know what those insignia stand for, waiting in line for the next round of free education to take your ignorance to the next level |
